《Two Wastes of Space- J.C》Effy leaves

I woke up next to JJ, Emily, and Naomi. It was hard to sleep, being cramped up in that tiny tent with three other people.
We couldn't find Thomas, Pandora, or Katie at first. Freddie found Pandora, and she said that Thomas went home, but we still didn't see Katie.
After a few minutes of calling for her, we just assumed she went home. I went home to find my mom and Sid at the kitchen table.
"Hey, sweetheart. How was camping?" she said.
"It was fine," I said flatly. I was about to pour myself a cup of coffee when I got a call from Emily, "Hello?"
"Bri, they found her. She's in the hospital. I'm leaving right now."
"Wait, what-," I said, but I was cut off by her hanging up. So I grabbed a travel mug and poured the coffee, cream, and sugar in.
"What's wrong? Where are you going, Bri?" my mom said.
"My friend's in the hospital. I'll explain more later. I have to go," I said. I ran outside and hopped in my dad's car that was mine after he died.
I reached the hospital and saw Emily, Pandora, and Freddie at the receptionist's desk. After the lady told us which room Katie was in, we walked in the direction towards it. She had nine stitches in her head, and it was from Effy hitting her over the head with a rock. When did it even happen? Why would she do that? Was she still tripping when it happened?
Just as we walked out of the hospital room, we saw Effy looking at us, and a guilty look plagued her face. She had visible bags under her eyes as well.
"She woke up then?"
"Yea, she woke up," Freddie said, trying to push past her.

"Fred, listen! She... pulled my hair!" she said with a tone of desperation, one I had never heard her use before.
"So what? She pulled your hair, so you smashed her head open??" he said, disgusted.
"It was an accident! I was tripping! She choked me, I couldn't breathe."
"I can't see any bruises. I can't see nine fucking stitches. When did it happen?"
She muttered something else, but I couldn't hear what it was. Whatever it was, it couldn't have been good. She turned around to face the three of us, "Em, it was an accident, I promise."
"You hit her with a rock. And you just left her there. She could've died," Emily said as Panda followed her out of the hospital.
Effy then looked at me, "Bri, please, just hear me out. You have to believe me,"
I wanted to believe her, I wanted to, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, "Eff, you fucked him, didn't you? You fucked him right after you hit her?"
Since I'd known her for so long, it was easy to read her mind.
She looked at me like she was about to cry, "Bri, I didn't mean for it to happen-
"But it did! Eff, you are so selfish, and you don't even realize it. You've been playing this headfucking game with Cook and Freddie, and if you had just picked Freddie from the start then this could've been so much easier, and Katie wouldn't be in the hospital."
"I'm sorry."
"So am I. But if you think that I'm going to defend you after what you did, you're crazy."
I pushed past her and walked out and back to my car. My mom was pulling out of the driveway to go to work when I got home. I opened the door, and Sid was in the TV room. My face was blotchy from crying, which he noticed.

"Are you ok?" he said.
"No, I'm not. I just yelled at my best friend," I said, tears falling down my face. This was the first falling out we had ever had in our entire friendship.
"Hey, it's ok. Tell me what happened," he said, hugging me. I told him everything that had happened in the hospital, and he listened.
"Tony and I had our fair share of fights, as all friends do, Bri. You guys will make up, and I know you'll forgive her. She'll redeem herself, and you love her, right?"
"I do," I croaked out.
"Everything will be ok, hot chocolate?" he offered. Whenever I was sick or upset, Sid would make me hot chocolate to cheer me up.
"Of course, and I love you too, Sid. Don't ever leave again without telling me," I said, hugging him.
"I won't. I'll stay right where I am."
I smiled as he left to go boil water, I wasn't even going to bother texting her. I had to study for exams also, which were coming up fairly soon...
I hoped Katie was ok, she could be a bitch most of the time, but she certainly didn't deserve that.

Apex Immortal: a LitRPG system rampage
"Across the multiverse where the contest for power is the only constant, only a handful have succeeded in reaching the ultimate heights of ascendency and gained the title Apex Immortal. Dominus is one of them, unsurpassed in overwhelming violence, feared across universes. Now, memories locked and stranded far away from everything he’d built, Dominus will face enemies that will challenge even his powers and discover that change is more difficult than destruction." I’ve been writing fiction on and off for the last decade and I’ve always wondered how a peak immortal (or an OP superhero) would single handedly conquer a world that mirrors our own in all of its complexity. As a politics nerd, this is my attempt at answering that question using Machiavelli’s “The Prince” as the primary playbook. The “monsters” are entire political systems with entrenched culture. Expect many versions of real world political systems (and cultures) to be on the hit list. The MC has to successfully institute regime and cultural change without engaging in wholesale genocide and causing the state to fail. Expect things to go wrong pretty quickly as escalating and cascading political and economic effects rapidly go out of control. Methods deployed are not for the faint hearted.
