《The Alpha's Silent Mate》3

Three weeks have gone by and no leads have been found.
The high ranking wolves are convinced that the incident was a mere prank by a group of rogue witches.
I think I believe that theory too. I'm pretty sure that there are no resurrection spells any witch could conjure.
A knock on my study's door brings me out of my thoughts.
"Enter." I say.
A girl about my age enters. Her sleek black hair brushes her shoulders in a bob. She is dressed in a black long sleeved dress that stops at her knees with black stockings. Her black lipstick contrasted with her deathly pale face. Ruby red eyes bore into my own sky blue ones.
"Princess Chloe of the werewolves." she says monotonously.
"Princess Lisa of the vampires." I say in the same monotone voice.
We hold eye contact for a minute before her lips started twitching.
"Okay stop! You win!" she says with a contagious laugh and plops into one of the seats across from mine.
"If only Darcy was here to see you lose !" I say in between laughs.
As princesses of the kingdoms, it was required that Lisa, Darcy and I become acquainted with each other.
Luckily, we all got on like a house on fire.
"Speaking of Darcy, she is pretty lonely during lunch and wolves don't warm up to her as easily as they do to you. Are you coming back soon?"
Poor Darcy. She and I have made it a routine to go around the cafeteria and sit with the omegas and try to get them to open up and find friends. It is thanks to this and a new law passed by none other than Mia that the omegas aren't treated like scum anymore. Though some still haven't stopped isolating themselves.
I wonder if the omega boy I met a few weeks ago has any friends. I have a feeling he goes to my school.
I wonder if I should tell Lisa about him. Nah. She, Anastasia and Kaden aren't so open minded about socializing with lower rank people.
Sure, Kaden and Anastasia care for them, as future leaders should, but I possibly can't imagine any of them with the patience and understanding that comes with interacting with the reserved, shy omegas.
"Chloe!"
Lisa snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Yes?"
"You zoned out again. You always seem to distance yourself when somebody talks about serious matters. What kind of a queen are you gonna be? Maybe I should take the spot as Alpha Queen, dontcha think?" she smiles at me, displaying her sharp fangs.
My eyes widen at her bad attempt at joking around. Honestly, Lisa has little to no sense of humor.
"Just kidding, I was saying that you have no reason to worry. Kenneth was defeated years ago and when the time comes again, you'll have the vampires' full support."
"Thank you, Lisa. And the vampires." I say with a genuine smile.
"No problemo. It's time for us to depart. Antonio just linked me that the meeting is adjourned. Farewell!"
She gives me a quick hug before speeding off.
Vampires and their super speed.
Why can't we be that fast too?
I am much faster than that. Kasey piped up.

What a quiet and modest wolf I have. (insert eye roll here)
Stupid human. she says before returning to the back of my mind.
~
()
Crud. First day back in almost a month and I'm late.
What an impression of the werewolves you're giving. Kasey scoffs.
At least we'll be seeing Oh! Well, maybe. I say with unexpected enthusiasm.
Oh? Kasey questions.
Omega hunk. I say dreamily.
Okay, weirdo.
I block her out and contemplate on whether I should go by car or wolf form.
"Princess Chloe?Beta Kaden and Gamma Anastasia left for school an hour ago. Should I make your breakfast to go?" Annalise, a maid asks as she pokes her head into the open door of my bed chamber.
"Yes please, Annalise." I say.
She bows her head and scurries out.
I stare at myself in the mirror, not able to decide on a hairstyle. Nothing seems to go well with my baby blue blouse and white sequined jeans.
A ponytail didn't work out, neither did a braid.
"Chloe! That mirror isn't going to teleport you to school!"
I jump at the all too familiar voice.
"Here doofus!"
I whip my head around to see my annoyingly stunning best friend leaning on the bed post. Her curly blonde hair and her green highlights bring out her emerald green eyes that are twinkling in amusement.
"Darcy!"
"Chloe!"
We run to each other and I take advantage of my strength and give her a good squeeze. She may look heavy with her thick thighs and overall chubbiness, but she is as light as a feather to me.
"I missed you so much! Why didn't you visit?!" I growl at her.
"Sheesh I dunno. Maybe it's because of your royal pains in the ass elders that pointed their long wrinkled fingers at us for 'threatening the future Queen'." she says using air quotations with her hands.
"Okay, sorry. Wait! We're both late and there's so much I need to talk to you about!" I say while quickly grabbing my school bag from the floor.
"I'll teleport us to school duh! Lisa told me you're coming today and I knew you'd be in this kind of predicament. So come on, hold my hand." she says talking at a fast pace.
"Wait! I need to do my hair and get my breakfast!"
She snaps her fingers. "Done. Let's go!"
A brown bag labelled "Alpha Princess - breakfast" lay on my dresser and my waist length brown hair was in a simple ponytail with a single small braid in it.
Wow. I didn't even feel it.
Darcy grabs the brown bag, grips my arm and utters a spell.
Suddenly, we were spinning rapidly and our surroundings blurred. I start feeling light-headed and dizzy, then we abruptly stop.
I jerk forward, but Darcy's death grip on my arm anchors me. My eyes regain focus and I take in our location.
We are at the majestic Anjelica Halo High. I glance at my watch to see that we have only seven minutes before our first lesson.
We head off to a nearby bench and I quickly eat the rice cakes and crumpets.
"So, anything new, except for the incident while you were gone? Like I mean, important stuff that we never discuss on the phone?" Darcy asks.

I swallow and mutter under my breath, "Oh nothing besides a kind-of crush."
If Darcy was a normal witch or a human, she wouldn't have possibly heard me, but because she's a royal with magically heightened senses, she heard me clearly. Unfortunately.
"What!? Chloe Gratuity Halo, excuse me!"
I cover her plump mouth with my hand and whisper, "Don't shout! Nobody else knows."
She gives me a look of understanding. I remove my hand from her face.
"I'm guessing this crush of yours isn't your typical Alpha?"
I shake my head.
"He isn't high ranking at all?"
I shake my head again.
"Let me guess. You're crushing on an Omega." she says with a straight face.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and nodded.
She gives me a warm smile and a hug. I love Darcy's hugs, they're so warm. Chubby people honestly give the best hugs.
"My best friend's first crush!! I wouldn't care less if she was an omega."
"No! No! It's not a girl, it's a guy. But he's an omega." I whisper the last sentence out.
"A male omega? Wow. That's..." she trails off.
"Strange? Unusual? Rare? Yeah, keep the list going." I say.
"We've gotta find him at lunch break, Chlo. Your very first crush, Chloe, your first crush!! We have a free period before lunch, so you are definitely spilling the deets." Darcy gives me a sly smirk.
We get up and head into the school as bell rings.
~
"So, where do you think Oh sits? 'Cause like, everyone has to eat."
I told her everything during our free period. And because we don't know his name, we stuck to calling him "Oh", an acronym for Omega hunk. (starts blushing madly).
So here we are, scanning the entire cafeteria trying to find a certain male wolf who most likely doesn't want to be seen.
"Keep your cool, Darce. Don't forget who we are. He might run away if he thinks we'll hurt him."
"Puh-lease Chlo. Like we'd ever hurt a innocent people for no reason. Besides, I'm sure we blend in perfectly with everyone else here."
"He's obviously not used to high ranking people talking to him. Speaking of blending in, nothing screams "princess coming through!" than that shiny tiara on your head. Take it off!"
She reluctantly teleports the tiara away.
We walk the perimeter of the cafeteria, carefully eyeing every male in the rather large space.
To my dismay, he isn't here.
"Let's check outside then." Darcy suggests.
Of course! He has to be outside. I feel my hopes rising!
We walk past the basketball courts, and receive many respectful bows from both players and cheerleaders.
I scan every face in the court and find no Oh.
Darcy and I keep up our faces blank and nod at the people who bow to us.
After a long walk without finding Oh, we plop down on the floor and drink some orange juice Darcy conjured up.
"Wait! Do you see that over there?" Darcy asks me, pointing at some bushes.
"What?"
I don't see anything. Just bushes.
"No, okay hold on."
She holds my hand and I once again feel the spinning motion of teleporting. My heart races as our surroundings blur to nothing but greens and browns. I start feeling dizzy again and feel my lunch threatening to spill out.
Like before, the rapid whirling stops. I am thankful that we are sitting, otherwise I would have fallen on top of Darcy.
Darcy nudges me.
I open my eyes and see that we are sitting just behind the bush Darcy was pointing at before. She is looking over the bush though. I decide to do what she is doing.
My jaw drops at the beautiful sight before me. There was a shimmering blue lake and near the water's edge, sits a serenely silent figure.
I recognize the raven black hair and the hardly unfit build. He looks so peaceful, it would be awful to disrupt him.
"Is that him?" Darcy whispers.
I only nod my head.
"Oh mega hunk." she whispers then smirks.
I smirk at her wordplay before blushing crimson.
We continue staring at him for what feels like hours, with each passing second, I am more drawn to him.
Beep beep! Beep beep!
I let out an internal string of curses directed to my stupid watch. Darcy tries to stifle a giggle and cast a spell to silence it before Oh turns around.
Luckily, she manages to silence it.
Unluckily, he manages to hear it.
His shoulders tense as he moves away from the pond and stands up.
His tight black poloneck reveals some muscle that I had missed during our first encounter. He looks strong enough to take on a pack member or even a warrior.
In fact, he is actually very fit for an omega.
Darcy must've noticed me checking him out because she is making kissy faces. How mature. Especially, for a future queen.
I glared at her before returning my eyes to oh so heavenly Oh.
He slowly turns around like in the movies.
Daaamn! Even I'm swooning.
Kasey, this isn't the time.
Kasey finally shuts up.
Watch it, human.
Satisfied with her reaction, I block her out.
His flawless tanned skin glows in the sunlight. His raven black hair brushes his thick eyebrows.
He clenches and unclenches his jaw as he scans the bushes near the one Darcy and I were behind.
We duck under the bush, and I hope that he doesn't see or smell us.
But I guess lady luck favours a fool (mind you, I'm no fool) because his gaze zeros in on our bush.
After a few moments of cringing, Darcy and I decide to pop our heads up.
He was gone.
I should be relieved, but I am not.
Instead of being happy that I was not caught stalking, I was-
no, let me rephrase that.
Instead of being happy that I, Alpha princess Chloe, future Queen of the werewolves, had not been caught stalking an omega that I ran into in an ice cream shop, I am sad.
The Alpha princess is sad. Because of an omega.
An omega.
What the hell is happening to me?
