《Broken-(A Loki Fanfic)》Chapter Twenty-Three

We formed a little plan. This time, I actually knew about it. We had to plant some science stick things into the ground at certain points. I went with Darcy and who I guessed was her boyfriend. The others went to place them in the other spots. Darcy reminded us to focus, but none of us really knew what we were doing.
"They're taped together!" the other guy said.
"Do you even know what these things do?" Darcy asked matter-of-factly.
"No?" he said.
"Neither do I." We started trying to shove it in the ground when we heard a loud noise. I looked up and saw a giant alien ship that I assumed belonged to Malekith. "Holy shit!"
"I... I have to go," I said.
"What?" Darcy asked. "Are you crazy?"
"Maybe." I knew I needed to help Thor. I started running in the direction I knew he would be. "Thor!" I yelled. "Where are you?" I was running as fast as I could. I couldn't be too slow this time. I would not let that happen again.
I tried desperately to spread my wings. "Come on. Come on!" I almost had it, but something was stopping me. It was like a wall. "Come on, damn it!" I tried to fly, I even tried to summon my daggers. Both were failing. I had never felt so useless. "Please!" I would not let Thor do this alone. I lost one, I can not lose another.
I began to stumble. My feet were going so fast, but I couldn't make them stop. I didn't want them to stop. I can't fail again. All of a sudden, I felt a cold embrace on my back. I felt a familiar sensation where Loki's hands had once healed me. I gasped at what felt like his hand. I glanced back but no one was there. The tears falling from my eyes became more joyful than sad. "Loki," I whispered. He would help me one last time.
My wings came free. It was painful, but worth it. They pounded through the air loudly. It had been so long since I flew.
"Holy shit!" I heard Darcy say from a distance.
I landed next to Thor, who was slamming Malekith into a building.

"Lilith, you broke the binding!" he said with a smile. He turned back to Malekith and the smile faded. He got up and lunged at Thor. I felt my daggers in my hand as I stepped aside. I shot towards Malekith from behind. Right as I was about to strike him, the surroundings changed. We were back on the other planet.
I looked around to see Thor and Malekith a few yards away from me. I sighed as I used my wings to give me a boost. I landed beside them. Just as I got there, they both disappeared. "What the hell?"
I looked around, not seeing them anywhere. "Great! Just fucking great!" I just stood there, unsure what to do. I recognized the area. We must have been near where we had been before.
I turned around and saw some weird wave in the air. I walked towards it, and I was suddenly back in London. I ended up being a few feet in the air somehow, but luckily I landed next to Jane and Erik. "Ow," I said. I looked up to see them staring down at me. "Hello." I realized that it wasn't exactly me that they were staring at, but it was my wings. "Yeah, I have wings. Now focus. We have things to do." Jane snapped out of her daze.
"Right," she said. She pressed a button, and Darcy and the other guy showed up, kissing. "Darcy?"
"Jane!"
"Ian?" Erik asked, letting me finally figure out his name.
"Selvig!" Thor's hammer zoomed past us.
"Myeh myeh!" Darcy yelled.
Darkness grew in the center of the courtyard. Thor returned, and Jane told us how we were too late.
"The convergence is at its peak," Erik explained with a gadget in his hand.
"Can those things stop him?" Thor asked, pointing at it.
"Not from here."
"We can't get close enough," Jane added. Thor took the devices.
"I can," Thor said. He took off towards the darkness. "Malekith!"
"Thor, you dipshit!" I yelled as I took off after him. I flew into the giant black and red cloud after him. I heard him speaking to Malekith, but I couldn't see or understand either of them.
"Thor! Where are you?" Before I knew it, I was back on the other planet. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I tried to run back through the field, but something pulled me back and launched me through the air. I landed on my back and heard a crack. I sat up to see my wings resting slightly abnormally behind me. "Come on, man." I looked around to see my attacker but saw no one else.

"Who—"
"Hello, child," a deep voice said.
"No. Not you. You can't be here."
"Well, I'm not. Not quite."
"What the hell does that mean?" I said, readying my daggers.
"I may not truly be here, but I am here through you, child."
"Like, in my mind?" I felt his presence come closer.
"Your mind is merely a vehicle," he said before I felt a slap to the face. The hit was powerful and sent me to the ground. I pushed myself up on my knees and hands. I wiped my bleeding mouth. I turned around, but this time, I could see him. He wasn't fully there, though. He appeared more like a ghost. He stood there, translucent, watching me struggle.
He walked towards me. I felt myself cower. He grabbed my wings and pulled my up. I screamed out in pain, but no one was there to help me.
"Let me go!" The pain shot through my wings, most definitely broken now.
"Why should I?"
"Well, why shouldn't you is the real question." He laughed at me as I struggled in his grip. "I'm sorry, do you think I'm joking?"
"Not at all." Thanos slammed me into the ground face first. I tried to push myself up, but he held me down. He pulled me out and threw me away from him. I slid through the dirt, which was the only thing that slowed me down. I forced myself to sit up, even though it felt like death. I spat, seeing a mixture of dirt and blood hit the ground.
"It's a shame," he said. "That you will have to die today. I had plans for the two of you. But at least," he looked at me mournfully, "you will share the same deathbed."
"How dare you," I said. "How dare you even talk about him." I stood up, summoning my daggers. "You don't get to say anything about him."
"Is that so?" he asked with a smile.
"You took everything from me. I had a family." I slowly walked towards him. "I had a home. I had people who loved me, and I loved them more than you could imagine. But you took them from me. You slaughtered them, but you wouldn't even do it yourself. No, you pulled some strings. You took an innocent man and made him your puppet."
"Silence child."
"No! I'm done being silenced by assholes like you. What were you going to do to me that was so important? Hmm? Was I supposed to be your next puppet? Was that it?" He didn't answer me, but a new look crossed his eyes. "And what about when you were done with me? We're you going to have Loki kill me knowing how much it hurt him? Is that what all those dreams were? Well guess what, dickhead? You failed."
I lunged towards him, aiming my blade at his neck. Instead, he grabbed mine, but I pushed myself away by kicking his face. He tried to grab me before I landed, but kicking him in the eyes messed up his vision for a moment. He refocused as he balled up his fist. He shot towards me. I just barely dodged his punch as I rolled to my left.
"You're a real dick, you know that?" I threw my dagger at him. It landed in his stomach, but such a small blade did little harm to him. I used my broken wings to give myself a small boost. I basically did a super jump since I couldn't actually fly with them.
I landed on his shoulders. I opened my wings around his face so he couldn't see his surroundings. I was about to jam my blades into his eyes when he suddenly vanished. I fell to the ground, hearing another crack beneath me. My vision was going in and out.
"This isn't over," Thanos said, his voice sounding distant.
All of the pain rushed through me. I couldn't move. It was too much to bare. I laid there in silence, knowing that death was coming for me.
My senses went numb and everything around me went black.

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017].
