After washing up they came down for dinner to see empty table and the guys looked at each other's faces "Oh no I forgot that Maniamma went to her neice's marriage and won't return for a week" making the guys groan as Deva said "And you are informing this now.." making her sheepishly smile.
"Umm...there is one more thing. I don't know cooking and didn't hire a new cook for the week" saying she looked down at her feet making the guys sigh frustrated because of their hunger as Deva walked inside the kitchen and took out the vegetables making them follow inside to see him washing vegetables.
"Do you atleast know washing the grains?" Deva asked making her roll her eyes and pour the grains in the bowl before washing them and put the bowl in the rice cooker and switched it on closing the lid as Prem and Noel cut the vegetables while Deva turned on the stove and started preparing some fry making her raise her eyebrows.
"You are a doctor. A business man and also knows cooking why don't you have a girlfriend then?" Siva suddenly asked making the other two shake their heads at her making her roll her eyes as she continued going towards Deva who is adding spices in the fry and sat on the kitchen counter beside him "You know you should date. You can't be alone for the rest of your life and should find a partner soon. Since I am the only girl in your bro group how about I suggest someone for you?"
Deva looked around and looked at her saying "Girl? I don't see any girl here" and put a lid on the cooking pan making her grit her teeth and boys chuckle "Ofcourse you wouldn't see a girl because all you see is patients and accounts I'm sure you'll love and marry them" making the boys laugh out loud as Deva glared at them shutting them up.

Deva walked towards the fridge and took out an ice pack before placing it on her shoulder making her yelp "You got a sprain in your shoulder" he said turning towards the stove making the trio look at him as he continued after a pause "That doesn't mean you can skip work" making her glare at him as the boys raised their eyebrows controlling their chuckle.
"Hmmmm.... it's so tasty. Why don't you cook everyday?" Siva asked as she munched on the food as Deva glared at her before resuming his eating as she continued "So Prem when are you introducing your butterfly to us?"
Prem choked on his food as the guys looked at him in question as he drank water and glared at Siva who raised her eyebrows "Her name is Jeevika she is a vet. You can meet her on the way to the factory" saying Prem went towards the kitchen and after a few seconds came out washing his hands.
"You should learn to shut up" Deva said making her roll her eyes saying "What if that attacker tries to attack Jeevika so Prem would help him? I'm trying to save you" making the trio look at her.
"Why do you always over think?" Noel asked making Siva say "It's not overthinking it's called taking precautions" and drank her water.
"Fine! Let's think it your way but what if the attacker tries to target you instead of the guys because he already knows they are loyal to me?" Deva asked making her pause her eating and think.
"See you don't have an answer so first you better try to save yourself than me" saying Deva got up walking in the direction of kitchen where Prem stood looking at her when she said "I do have an answer but the thing is why wouldn't I sell you like others when I can?"

Deva stopped mid stride as she continued turning towards him in her chair "You three are like siblings but I am no one to you and I do not benefit from not selling your secrets but what's stopping me? I never had unanswered questions in my life and all the questions about you and your life are always ending with question mark which is scaring and frustrating me".
"That is why you shouldn't search everything it's better if some questions are left unanswered" saying harshly he went into kitchen leaving the trio in an awkward silence.

Madness Led by the Hands
‘Great, no… splendid. It was for naught.’ ‘Naught? Depends. If your desire is to send an army of killers our family’s way, yes indeed. If it’s plain survival you seek, then no.’ ‘They don’t coexist?’ ‘What… don’t tell me you’re still all groggy from the fall. Perhaps in novels, but real life is much tougher–––many more times a drag than anyone can possibly imagine. If dusty history is not a reliable teacher for you, then the pandemic surely took that place. At least that one has the advantage you needn’t be literate to savvy how reality always trumps imagination.’ ‘Whatever you say, whatever you say. So… what now?’ ‘Now? Isn’t it obvious? Now we shall survive. And live a good life.’ ‘Ohh… pretty much everything here has something against this little weird wish of ours. Might you consider?’ ‘Then pretty much everything here is a goner.’ ‘Hm, I don’t like the sound of that. Too much trouble, you see. I’d prefer laying low somewhere safe.’ ‘…nobody told you it’s mutually exclusive, no–––or did you forget about that too?’ ‘Fine, then I wish my future enemies all the best.’ ‘They are undeserving of your pity.’ ‘Of course not. That unlucky bunch won’t ever comprehend the reason behind their demise. Just let me smoke in peace and offer my condolence in advance.’ ‘Idem, let me study alchemy, unobstructed by all, if possible. This also includes you. By the way, are you sure you smoke to offer condolences? It seems like an excuse to me.’ ‘I-it is none. Plain truth, you see?’ ‘Seriously, why did I even ask...?’

In The Tall Grass
Elizabeth Wilson commits suicide. She was the golden girl among her peers in Darkwood, Washington who stood above the pressure of her drug-ridden town. Explore the summer before her senior year that triggered the domino effect of Elizabeth's emotional and psychological breakdown that lead her to take her own life. This is the prequel to the main story, Petrichor and was never intended to be made. I wrote this because I wanted to explore Elizabeth's character and show how the main characters have changed since this event. I decided to release this first because Petrichor is undergoing a full rewrite. In the meantime, I'm writing a side story called Mourning Glory that takes place between the second and third act of Petrichor. Development is going rather fast so I suggest to to read that if you like this story
