Jungkook's eyes locked onto the screen of his own phone and sighed, thinking Jimin would have texted by now. He knew deep down if Jimin did send a message, it would show on his notifications. However, he couldn't dare to imagine that Yoongi would swipe away the notifications so suddenly. Because of class, Jungkook had to set his phone away and pay close attention. Even during the lecture, Jungkook kept his hand locked over the phone to await a text message from Jimin for the afternoon. But by then, he was still waiting for nothing.
After class, Jungkook walked out with Yoongi by his side. The sun was already close to setting now in the late afternoon and all that was left was to finally go out and celebrate Jungkook getting into a hard internship program. The boy was excited about it, but his mind still focused on Jimin. Jungkook checked his lock screen once more to read the time that flashed ‘7:40 PM' Now, so Jungkook thought that maybe he should talk to Jimin. “Jimin hasn't called me all day, I should call him…” Thought the boy as Yoongi caught up with him and threw his arm around his shoulder.
“What are you doing? You don't want to go out and drink with me?” Yoongi questioned and let out a chuckle. “I won't drink much so we won't get into any accidents.” The man mentioned with a smile over his face as he looked down at Jungkook's phone. “Thinking about him?”
“I shouldn't wait for his texts or calls…” Jungkook replied and looked down on his phone. “But it's weird that he didn't contact me at all today.”
“Normally, Jimin would be a clingy guy to you, hm? Call him… Text him… Video call…” Yoongi then backed away from Jungkook and took his car keys out. “I'll wait for you… Hopefully your boyfriend wouldn't mind you missing out on one lesson for a drink with me.”
At that moment, Jungkook just knew calling Jimin would lead to the man wanting to tutor him, so at that moment Jungkook hesitated and looked down at his lock screen. “Maybe… I shouldn't do this…” Jungkook battled on in his head as he pointed his attention over to Yoongi. “Drink for me, I have to go home and video chat with Jimin.” As soon as the boy said those words, Yoongi tilted his head and let off a scoff. “Yoongi?”
“Alright, set your interests for Jimin aside and think about what you want. You were so positive about going out to drink with me, where is that now? You don't always have to do what Jimin wants so he can like you. You're his friend now, isn't that what you wanted? You can take a break from the lessons.” The older student claimed and let out a laugh. “What's wrong with you?”
“I feel like… Jimin isn't going to like it when I'm out drinking instead of focusing on my school work… He'll get mad and he'll ignore me!” Jungkook fretted getting on Jimin's bad side because at the end of the day, those feelings he had towards Jimin; grew bigger than just any old infatuation at first sight. It was such a strong crush towards the man now and making Jimin upset, worried Jungkook.

“You make it sound like he's your master or something.” Yoongi teased and kept eyeing Jungkook's phone in his hands. “We won't even take that long drinking! We'll drink and have grilled barbecue there too, so we won't be completely wasted. Surely, Jimin wouldn't mind that since you are taking his tutoring lessons for one week already and there's no need to pay for it.” Yoongi continued to talk to Jungkook; not focusing on trying to get Jungkook to drink, but show Jungkook to feel okay with doing things he alone wants to do without fearing he'll lose Jimin to the smallest things. Yoongi didn't think this would happen, but seeing the way Jungkook panicked about Jimin thinking otherwise, showed Yoongi how crazy the boy was begging to fall for his tutor.
“Y-You're right… I want to go out and drink for once. I don't pay him, so I can take a small break for today.” Jungkook said and then gave Yoongi his phone. “If he calls, give it to me, but if he doesn't, I won't send him a message..” Jungkook claimed and folded his arms watching Yoongi set the phone away. Within seconds, Jungkook blinked his eyes and held his hand out. “Yoongi… Let me text him I won't-”
“Stop, you said if he calls, I'll give you it. Until then, let's go out to eat and drink something. I know a great barbecue place where we can get cold Soju along with it!” Yoongi mentioned and with that, Jungkook walked out of the campus with the older student. Jungkook actually felt good he was with his friend for the rest of the time and as soon as they arrived, Jungkook didn't worry about the fact that it was already 8:00 PM and Jimin still didn't call for tutoring. This alone set off alarms in Jungkook's head. But he had nothing to worry about… At least, that's what he thought.
The two friends arrived at a barbecue restaurant where the grill was set in the middle of the dark tables. The whole look of the restaurant was a calm and modern look. The colors of red cherries bloomed over at first glance; walls were painted a pale red and the floors were wooden. However, the tabletops were a black counter color as well. As Jungkook walked in with Yoongi, they were guided to their seats and given a menu to be tend to as soon as possible. Jungkook however, felt horrible that Jimin was silent now and wanted to check up on the man to assure him that the lessons won't be necessary, but either way, Yoongi wasn't going to allow that.
So the boy sat there in silence, watching Yoongi order while his eyes fell onto Yoongi's bag where he kept his folders and laptop; along with Jungkook's phone. “Two bottles of cold Soju and the grill special with seafood, grilled beef, sausages, and kimchi too. Make it the spicy kind as well.” Yoongi mentioned and looked up at the waitress take down the order. “And when it comes to the bill; don't let him get it, I'll be paying for it.”

“Yes, of course. Would that be all?” The woman asked as she made a smile at Yoongi, almost like she wanted to stand there a little longer if it wasn't for her job.
“Yes, that would be all.” Yoongi replied, observing the woman as she turned around. Walking away afterwards. “Jungkook, are you alright with what I ordered?” Yoongi questioned as he still looked at the waitress until she walked beyond the kitchen doors. “I can call her back if you aren't pleased.”
“Don't stress about it, Yoongi. I'm alright with what you ordered. Besides… I see the way you look at her, do you… Want to talk to her?” Jungkook asked and let out a giggle. “You should!”
“No.” Yoongi denied and turned back to face Jungkook. “That's silly, I don't even know her. My taste is different.” Yoongi mentioned and locked his own hands together while the elbows held them up against his lips. “Finally, you aren't going crazy about Jimin! I know you love him, but we are friends too!”
“Love? Such a strong word… I don't take it like that… I see him as someone I like.” Jungkook assured and folded his arms together to hug himself. “I've been so worried lately… What if he already has someone? He never mentions his sexual orientation, he never even mentions his love life! How does he expect me to know how much girls he slept with? How beautiful they must be-”
Right there, Yoongi's eyes widened and bolted towards Jungkook. “Oh you're insane! That's personal.” Laughed the man as Jungkook nervously tapped his hands against the table. “He's probably too busy to love.”
“Too busy to love… So does that mean he's a virgin?!” The boy uttered once more and made Yoongi reach over to Jungkook across the table and pat his head.
“Haha, no. How do you expect someone as handsome as that to still be a virgin? Surely you're not one, right?”
“Right…” Jungkook answered and looked at the older for that moment. “I almost forgot about that night I had with her… Both drunk and stupid back at highschool. I haven't heard from her since. Did you?”
“Not at all. I heard she went to study abroad. Of course… Are we still talking about Kim Juyon? You two were such best friends back then. I wonder what happened.” Yoongi added and let out a sigh. “It's been years, heaven knows where she's been.”
“I didn't hurt her… Did I?”
“No. She just left because she did. No further explanation. But it is odd, isn't it? Maybe she's still out there… With a different life.” The words falling off Yoongi's mouth like that had Jungkook thinking of the girl he had a picture of in his room. That was his old best friend he once shared a passionate night with. After that night, he's never seen her since. Jungkook wanted to think that she found a better opportunity at life and went for it without saying goodbye, or even things got too awkward for her to say it. But other than that, there Jungkook was, still thinking; what really happened to Kim Juyon? No matter what, Yoongi seemed clueless. Almost as if she was wiped out of their lives.
On another note, Jimin sat in his room as always while his eyes were locked onto the screen of the tutoring site. He waited… Waited for Jungkook's icon to pop up and show that he was active, but nothing happened. The man's mind began to wander what happened to the boy since he hasn't returned any of his messages with a reply that would take a paragraph of how sorry he was. Jimin thought on it more, rolled his hair back, and placed his glasses back on. The man then adjusted the neck hole of his brown turtleneck sweater that went well with his black slacks and white socks to his style.
“One… minute and forty-one seconds late… Now forty-two… Forty-three…” Jimin said to himself as he kept his eyes locked onto the screen each minute. “Late… Oh Jungkook, what are you doing? Aren't you the one always rushing and reminding me?” Jimin continued to talk to himself as he stood up and kept his five fingers against his hair. It felt like sirens going off in his perfectionist head; he was used to being on time and getting things done when it came to the lesson over video chat. On the other hand, Jungkook hasn't even texted him back and made the man worry to himself.
“Fifty-one… Fifty-two…” Jimin counted and with that he began to laugh to himself. “That's fine. I shouldn't stress about this anyway! I did offer the lessons for free and here I am complaining. This is a choice to him… I'm a choice to him…. Right?!” His voice echoed in his room as he took one glance back at the laptop after. “Don't bother me for the night then. He's probably out there in a party or with his parents. That's fine. I'll just work instead.” Jimin claimed and began to remove his sweater. “I'll work the night shift to keep myself busy.” With that being said, Jimin placed on a black coat before thinking of heading off to work, but then… he grew silent and bit his lip before taking his glasses off.
His smile suddenly appeared over his own face as he still held onto his glasses. “I'm fine now…” Jimin whispered, slowly applying pressure to his glasses until the black rectangular glasses snapped in seconds. “Oh that boy… the way he's making me feel… It's like sirens barking at me already, isn't it? Red flags just shooting up...isn't it?” Jimin held onto his glasses and crushed it within his hands, yet he kept a calm and soft smile in his perfect and charming face. “Who's...getting… in between us?”

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
