《Meet the authors Showcase Edition #1 (Est. 2/17/2020)》A showcase with @arkynio, author of the marked ones

The Marked Ones was originally an idea for a stage play, but once I got the idea on paper, I realized that it needed to be more detailed than a play would allow, and so it became my first full length novel. It was heavily inspired by me getting my first couple of tattoos while still in high school, as well as the feeling of having no control over my life, which was a constant of my childhood and growing up in an abusive household.
I struggled a lot with staying consistent with smaller details, since it took me five years to actually finish the novel.
I enjoyed switching perspectives and getting to write from the different characters viewpoints.

Overall, people have given me a lot of positive feedback, saying that they were hooked by the plot and story telling. One person gave me the compliment of comparing my novel to "The Hunger Games"
5
As of now, it's going to be the first part of a trilogy, but it could be a stand alone if I decide not to proceed with the other books in the series
You are in control of your life. No one and nothing can determine your fate. This is your life, and you get to make your own path. If a door closes, open it again-that's how doors work, after all.
7
Be confident in your story, but also be willing to listen to advice or criticism.
Yes. Avalon and I share parents that could care less about us, unless it's for their own personal gain. We are stubborn and completely blind to how others see us. But, we both are willing to do whatever necessary to protect the people we love.
The strong heroine protagonist, fast-paced plot, and twists you won't see coming make my novel a great choice for leisure reading.
I do! Other than finishing the "The Marked Ones" Trilogy, I have another novel in the planning stages, and I'm working on my first novella for Wattpad's Open Novella Contest!

A Fragmented Mind
"Hi there. My name is Richard Maddox, but my — admittedly nonexistent — friends call me Rick. I live in a world of superheroes and villains. A world filled with magic and physics-defying powers, and in this world, I'm just an ordinary, completely average 17-year-old boy. My imaginary friends, however, are as far from average as you get. You think you're good at deluding yourself? Well, stand back, because it's time for a master to show you his craft. Welcome to my life, the life of a madman." This story was originally inspired by the 'Legion' novella series written by Brandon Sanderson. If you've read those books and liked them, it might be worth giving this a read. The same goes if you haven't read them either, I guess. (Currently re-writing earlier chapters)

Demon of the Darkest Night
When Mason Nevels is dragged into The Trials, his only priority is finding the means to survive. A single message tells him that he must find the power to ensure humanity's survival before they appear in this isolated plane in several months, and an unknown force equips him with a dangerous artifact capable of making Mason into something more than human: the Staff of Mardun. The Trials are unforgiving. They pit the best and worst of races from across the universe in a magical battle for superiority, ever-fueled by increasingly scarce resources in a land that can transform in the blink of an eye. But for Mason, a single drop of mana is enough to burn his body from within, and the cost of relying on the abilities of the Staff of Mardun may be the very humanity he's tasked to defend. In order to forge the strength and alliances necessary to survive the dangers of the The Trials, Mason must balance a growing need for power with the strength of character to retain his identity. Please Rate this story five stars if you enjoy it! I promise rewards in the form of more content. Welcome to The Trials.
