Qi Le An cleared his throat and said, “It’s just... I wasn’t expecting you would get me so much stuff, thank you so much, Chen Ge.”

“We have talked about this no more thank you this thank you that,” Chen pretended he was annoyed, then he resumed the poker face, “All righty, I’m starving, shall we get some food?”

Qi Le An nodded, he grabbed his key and left the room with Chen.

Qi Le An didn’t have a proper kitchen in his apartment, but there was a canteen and also a gym, a lounge, and a small library on the ground floor.

They went to the canteen and selected a few dishes using Chen’s employee card, Chen handed Qi Le An a card after they were seated, “Here is your new card.”

Qi Le An took the card which said actor, Film, and Television Cooperation Department, with his name and photo on it.

Then Chen grabbed a folder from his bag, “This is yours as well, I hate beating around the bush, so I’m just gonna put it bluntly, we both know I’m assigned for you to follow up your audition with Director Chen. I have prepared some documents for you to learn, please have a look.”

Qi Le An nodded, he started to appreciate Chen’s attitude towards him even more, Chen didn’t show the slightest trace of flattering after he knew Qi Le An might have a chance to work with Director Chen.

And Chen didn’t pester him with even one question that why a trainee like him could have a chance to do an audition with Director Chen. There was only one drama, To Perish Demons, in Qi Le An’s portfolio that was not enough! But Chen didn’t pry into Qi Le An’s personal life at all.

Qi Le An appreciated Chen’s work attitude.

Chen rose to his feet and bought two drinks while Qi Le An opened the folder and had a look at the documents.

“Are we ready to dive in?” Chen put a drink on Qi Le An’s side of the table.

Qi Le An put the documents away and nodded.

“Right, I almost forgot to tell you, you will get a monthly subsidy starting this month... ... your situation is indeed complicated.”

Qi Le An knew what Chen meant, he was transferred to a different apartment now, Mr. Li would suspend his monthly allowance for sure. But he was underage now, the new apartment should come up with some special means to pay him.

Qi Le An just smiled at Chen apologetically in silence, he wondered whether Chen was aware of his economic situation or not.

They went back to Qi Le An’s new apartment after lunch, Chen told Qi Le An that the audition was on that Sunday so he had to watch all of Director Chen’s work before the weekend.

Qi Le An nodded, daunting it sounded for Director Chen was quite prolific, but he knew Chen was saying that for his own good.

Chen was a bit surprised that Qi Le An didn’t protest, he added, “Read all the documents I just gave you, they are the highlights in Director Chen’s interviews.”

“Don’t worry, Chen Ge!”

“I’m taking you to see a stylist the day after tomorrow, and a photo shoot in the afternoon. Boy, you need a makeover and some serious shopping to do! Tomorrow, tomorrow you are free though.” Chen cast a meaningful look at Qi Le An when he said Qi Le An was free the day after.

Qi Le An heaved a sigh of relief for he was still so sore from the punishment.

“I won’t nag you or anything, I’m sure you know how precious this audition is, just let me know if you need anything, all right?”

Qi Le An nodded seriously, he wanted this more than anyone, not only to not let Wei Chang Feng down, but also he didn’t want to be trampled on by Mr. Li anymore

With that Chen said goodbye to Qi Le An, and Qi Le An insisted on walking him to the elevator.

Qi Le An slumped on the sofa right after he walked back to his apartment, he took a few deep breaths and started to read the documents that Chen had prepared for him.

He highlighted all the parts that he found particularly helpful and he felt so lucky that Chen had gone for the extra mile and prepared him this folder.

Time passed by quickly when you were occupied by something you enjoyed doing, Qi Le An realized it was getting dark when stretched his arms. He made the bed using the new bedding that Chen bought him and went for a shower.

He took the folder to the bed and read more before sleep, the shadow of him thumbing through the documents added a soothing vibe to the room.

There was a synopsis of Better Days at the end of the documents, Qi Le An smiled, he knew Chen must have had contacted a lot of friends to get this synopsis for him, but the thing was he had already read the whole screenplay from Wei Chang Feng.

Qi Le An finished reading all the materials Chen had prepared for him and he turned off the light contently. It was a new bed, but he fell asleep in just a few seconds.

It had been so long since the last time that Qi Le An had slept like a baby, he had been an early riser for so long except for days when he felt unwell. He didn’t wake up around noon the next day, he checked the time several times and still couldn’t believe it. He blamed the soft bed for that.

The next thing Qi Le An did was checking his cellphone, there was a text that he got around ten o’clock, “Hello, Mr. Qi, Mr. Wei asked me to send you something, when are you available today?”

Qi Le An felt sorry, he called the number immediately to apologize.

“Hello, this is Qi Le An.”

“Hi, Mr. Qi.” Qi Le An was surprised it was a girl’s voice.

“Are you free today? Mr. Wei asked me to send you something.”

“Yes, I’m free the whole day. Please don’t trouble yourself and come to me, just send me an address and I will pick it up! Please!” Qi Le An insisted.

“No need to stand on ceremony with me, but I will send you an address if you insist.”

“Thank you so much, see you later.” Qi Le An heaved a sigh of relief.

“No worries, see you later.”

Then Qi Le An got a new message from the girl asking him to meet her in the library near Glory at noon.

Qi Le An had some breakfast and walked to the library. It was a quarter to 12 when Qi Le An arrived, he walked inside the library and checked a few books.

Several minutes later, a girl in a pink hoodie approached him and smiled at him while waving the screenplay in hand at him.

“Hi, I’m Tong, this is the screenplay Mr. Wei asked me to give you.” Tong smiled brightly at Qi Le An and said, “I watched your show, I like Bell so much, you did such a great job! Can I get an autograph please?”

With that the girl named Tong handed a photo of Bell to Qi Le An, Qi Le An was caught off guard for a brief second, he didn’t expect a person who knew Wei Chang Feng would become a fan of him. Qi Le An took the photo and scratched his head... ... he didn’t have a pen.

Tong was amused by Qi Le An’s reaction, “You are even more adorable than Bell.”

Qi Le An blushed crimson, and Tong let out an ‘aww, Qi Le An rushed to the receptionist and borrowed a pen.

Tong took the autographed photo with two hands and she said, “You’ve got this, my idol!”

Qi Le An beamed with smiles, “Thank you so much!”

Tong winked at Qi Le An.

Qi Le An felt so delighted that he had met a fan this day, for he expected Wei Chang Feng would send Gary or some other assistant.

Qi Le An texted Wei Chang Feng after he got the screenplay and said thanks, Wei Chang Feng replied with a smiley face after a long time.

Qi Le An noticed Wei Chang Feng had added a few notes about his understanding about the character of Xing’s younger male cousin Cheng, the character Qi Le An was going to audition for.

Qi Le An read through the notes over and over again like it were a love letter from Wei Chang Feng, he slept so well that night as well.

Chen gave Qi Le An a morning call the next morning, he told Qi Le An that no way they could be late for the stylist they were going to see was always fully booked.

Chen waited for Qi Le An under his building in the car, he looked Qi Le An up and down before Qi Le An got in the car.

Qi Le An felt a bit self-conscious under Chen’s gaze, he got in the car, feeling so shy.

‘Chen Ge, please don’t look at me like that. I know I need a makeover.’ thought Qi Le An.

“Have you read the material?” Chen started the car and asked Qi Le An.

“Yes, I finished it yesterday, thank you so much Chen Ge.”

The two didn’t talk much on the way, for Qi Le An was a quiet boy by nature and he didn’t want to appear as ‘trying too hard.

Soon they had arrived at a fancy salon, “We are here, just follow me now.”
