《Falsely Yours, Arthur》4.

My brain was going haywire, so here I was standing beside the girl that scared me shitless on the rooftop.
"Aren't you too young to be here?" Arthur asked out of nowhere and I furrowed my brows.
"I'm 18" I said, mentally rolling my eyes before looking at her again to see amusement flashing her features.
"Aren't you too young to play here?" I ask, we were standing by the rails, her behind me. I was now turned around and looking at her. The wind blew at my short layered hair and I tucked it behind my ear.
"I'm 19." She said, I raised my eyebrows and she rolled her eyes.
"I missed a year due to juvie." She says and I inwardly shiver.
"Oh," I mutter turning around to look at the view.
"My sister said there's good music," I muttered the answer to her previous question and she stepped beside me and nodded. Taking out her flask she offered me some but I shook my head.
"Drink, you're fucking shaking." She said, her voice flat. I rolled my eyes before taking the flask in my cold hands and bringing it to my lips.
The whiskey burned my throat as it travelled down and I winced before making a disgusted face and giving it back to her.
"Not much of a drinker I take it." She murmurs before looking at the mouth of the flask and then bringing it to her lips and chugging it down like water.
For a fraction of a second, I let my eyes wander down her body, I took in every tattoo and scar. The pants clung to her waist like a second skin down to her ankles.
I never realised it but she had stepped closer to me as I examined her tattoos seeing a snake eating its tail.
"It's called the Ouroboros." She answered reading my mind. My eyes snapped hers and I nodded. My face was flushing but due to me being brown she didn't know I was blushing.
"What were you doing there?" She asks and my insides quiver again.
"Don't panic." She said quietly, her face still void of any emotion.
Had she gotten me out here so I wouldn't panic?
"My sister Val was dancing with a guy, and another guyssked me if I wanted to dance with him I said no but he asked again and so I ran." I trailed off and Arthur had an amused look on her face.

"So you decided to come up? Alone? Where anyone, and I mean anyone can hurt you." She murmured, her eyes locking onto my features as she took a step towards me. Just one step and her body would be pressing into mine.
"Why would anyone hurt me?" I furrowed my eyebrows tilting my head to the side as I stared at her in confusion.
"It's cameo baby." That was her answer, her voice raspy. Her arms came up to settle on the railing beside either side of my body, caging me in.
"Cute outfit." She murmured, her dark eyes sliding down my body again. Her lip was tucked between her teeth as I started at her serene face.
"Thanks," I muttered softly, her eyes were back on me. I could hardly breathe. My stomach was erupting into chaos.
"Next time I see you around a suspicious place, I won't hesitate to hurt you. Understood?" Her tone was flat and my eyes widened. Her right hand left the railing and settled on the hem of my shirt. She hooked her finger on the hem. I looked down at her hand and then up at her just as her finger ran over the hem. Her knuckle touched my stomach once in a while.
I nodded in response but her dark eyes narrowed into slits.
"Silence doesn't fly with me, Marnie. Words." Her voice was as cold as a stone and I internally shivered at her speaking my name. I couldn't focus when her hand was touching my body and her eyes were meeting mine. Words defeated me.
"Understood." I gulped and she cocked her head starting at me. Her gaze unflinching, I was half hoping for her to step away and let me go but she didn't. I looked at the ground to see my heels in between her red boots.
"Understood, what?" She said leaning down so her serene face was in my view. My breath hitched in my throat and my hands clenched on my overalls.
"Understood Arthur," I muttered, her name feeling foreign on my tongue. She didn't say anything just kept staring at me with her dark eyes. Until she flashed a grin. That grin was anything but warm. It was cold and to make me understand that she stood by her words.

"Good girl." She whispered, my stomach did backflips at her tone and how her face was slowly inching towards mine. I gritted my teeth as the chilled air that once felt refreshing was now suffocating me.
"MARNIE!" Val's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I pushed Arthur's body away from mine as she flashed me an amused look when she didn't even budge.
"My sisters coming," I whispered and her amused expression brightened.
"Is she now?" Her voice was nonchalant as I started to freak the fuck out.
"Mer, where the fuck are you?" Val yelled, I could hear her heels hitting the cold tiles heading towards us.
"Please. I'll give you my favourite action figure!" I promised and she laughed before stepping away.
"Really? Action figures? That's all it took?" I muttered to myself and she chuckles just as Val slammed her hand on the locked door. Her expression was that of annoyance and anger.
Oh, I'm so dead.
Arthur looked at me with an amused expression before striding over to the door and opening it wide open for Val to walk through.
Val didn't even spare a glance towards Arthur and walked right over to me.
"What the fuck Marnie? I was looking for you! You're fucking 18, you just think that you can wander off wherever you want? Well, let me tell you, I think the fuck not!" She huffed out a breath, my eyes widened as Arthur slowly walked over to us, an amused expression on her face as she looked me over.
"Val, you were dancing with a guy. And if you want to yell at me, not now." I muttered and she furrowed her eyebrows before turning around to look at Arthur who just stood there with a flask of whiskey in her hands.
"Is that liquor? Did you drink? Marnie, I told you no drinking without my supervision." I glared at Arthur who with her hands up in mock surrender put the flask back.
"No no no, I didn't drink," I mutter but Val nears me with a pointed look.
"Your mouth smells like whiskey." She glares and I almost want to kill myself.
Almost, because first I want to kill Arthur and then myself.
This is so embarrassing please, I'll do anything to get out of this situation. I'll give you my firstborn, just- just get me out.
"I was drinking." Arthur clarifies, her face void of any emotion. Val looks her over and then at me.
"She still smells like liquor." What a fucking hypocrite! She let me take a sip of her beer but doesn't want me to drink? When I'm fucking 18?
"Like I said, I drank. And we kissed." Arthur says and I look at her with wide eyes. Amusement flashes through her obsidian eyes.
"What? No! No, we did not." I gape at her and she shrugs.
"Whatever dear Marnie says," Arthur smirks and I want to smack it right off her face.
"You're in so much trouble." Val sneers and I can see the mom she's turning into.
"I'm sorry," I say, God, this is soooooooo embarrassing. Did I mention that this is embarrassing? It is.
"Let's go home," Val says before grabbing my hand and dragging me away. She suddenly stops in her tracks and turns towards Arthur who is leaning against those rails and looking at us amused, sipping on her flask.
"Stay away from her." Val sneers and I look at the tension between them. Does she know Arthur prior to this?
"Whatever dear Marnie says." Arthur repeats sneering back at her. Her eyes narrowed, her grip on the flask tightening.
"Fuck you." Val spits before dragging me away.
"Oh and Marnie..." Arthur calls out, I turn around on my heels seeing her walk towards us with an amused grin on her face.
"I would like to see those action figures in person." She grins before leaning down to peck my cheek and walking away. I stand with my mouth agape. I would've lost complete track of who I am and where I was if it weren't for Val who makes an annoyed sound before dragging me back home.

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
