They gazed at each other like each was the only thing the other desired in life. For a precious moment in time, perhaps they were all that they needed. The first had fiery eyes, pure determination and a heart filled with ambitious desire. The second was gentle in essence, valuing bounteousness and noble acts of selflessness. They completed each other so flawlessly that it was as though neither had been incomplete in the first place.

They were not broken, nor were they insufficiently fragmented; they were—and had always been—simply a two-piece puzzle. When they came together, the grooves between their two pieces disappeared and they were smoothly, effortlessly one.
