《Love and Despair || Human! Monokuma x Fem! Reader》|| Chapter Twelve: Proof of Friendship ||

The sound of the noisy school bell awoke me from my slumber. I groan as I hear Monokuma's voice boom from the monitor. "Good morning, everybody! It is now 7 a.m., meaning nighttime is officially over! Rise and shine!"
I rub my eyes and sit up, swinging my legs off of the bed. I stand up and head over to the bathroom. Once I freshen up, I head to the door. "What should I do today?" I wonder as I unlock the door.
As soon as I open the door, I am greeted with a loud, "good morning, (N/n)!" I yelp in surprise when Junko hugs me tightly. She pulls me out of my dorm and closes the door. "It's been a while since we caught up! What's going on with you? Has that stupid Monokuma been bothering you?"
"U-Um, well yesterday I was hanging around Sayaka for a while-"
"Sayaka? You better not think about replacing me with her!"
"No! Junko, it's not that. She just wanted to talk to me."
"Ah, okay. Then go on!"
I shake my head before continuing, "after we talked for a while, Monokuma showed up. He claimed he wanted me to hang out with him, so I did-"
"What?! Why would you do that?!" Junko shouts. She grabs my shoulders and shakes me.
"I did it so he would leave everyone else alone! S-Stop shaking me! I'm getting dizzy!"
"Haha, sorry (N/n)..." Junko lets go of me. "Anyways, that seems fair, I guess. It's whatever 'cuz we are gonna hang out together today!"
I nod and chuckle. "Alright then, should we go get some breakfast? I'm starving!"
"Yeah! Let's go to the dining hall! I am totally in the mood for some breakfast!"
The two of us then head to the dining hall, making small conversation as we do so. We pass by some of the other students and give them a small greeting as we walk by. When the two of us reach the dining hall, there were a few students there as well. Hina was there along Sakura, the both of them conversing. I could also see that Leon was also here eating breakfast.

Junko and I both head to the back to retrieve some food, the both of us then sitting at a table with Sakura and Hina.
"Morning Junko and (Y/n)!" Hina exclaims before shoving another donut into her mouth. Sakura mumbles, "good morning."
"Mornin'!" Junko shouts. She then looks down at her plate and begins munching on bacon.
"Good morning," I greet before I dig into my plate of food. All of us eat in silence, enjoying our food. Only once we finished did we begin to speak again.
"I'm stuffed!" Hina shouts. She rests a hand onto her stomach, patting it. Sakura nods and lets out a statement of agreement.
"Are you sure eating donuts for breakfast was a good idea, Hina?" I question the girl.
"Oh, yeah! Definitely! Donuts are the best! I can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! It's no biggie," Hina responds with a smile. Junko lets out a laugh and I smile.
"Yeah, you really like donuts!" I laugh in which Hina nods.
"You bet! I love 'em so much that I could marry them!"
"That's a bit extreme, don't you think?" Junko asks with a laugh.
Hina crosses her arms and pouts. "No way! Donuts are just so awesome, who wouldn't wanna marry them?"
"I'm sure lots wouldn't want to marry a food," Sakura comments with a smile. Hina pouts and lets out yelps of protests.
"Oh, yeah! I remember now! (N/n), I gotcha something!" Junko says to me. "It's in my dorm, let's go get it!"
"Ah, alright! We'll talk to you later, Sakura and Hina!" I say to the two sitting across from us. They both nod and wave as we arise from the table and leave the dining hall.
We begin walking down the hall to Junko's dorm. I then question, "what did you get me?"
"It's a surprise, dummy!" Junko answers, grinning widely.
"Ugh, fine. Where did you get it anyways?"
"Well, there was this school store thing and there was this machine called a MonoMono Machine. Monokuma told me it dispenses prizes or whatever, so I tried it out. I got a prize and it even came with this little note about what it stands for or whatever. I thought it was perfect for you, so I saved it!"

"Oh, I get it...thank you Junko."
"Eh, it's no problem. Anything for my bestie, ya know? Ah! We're here!"
We reached Junko's dorm, the door having Junko's name on it and a pixel version of herself. She unlocks the door and lets the both of us in. Her dorm looked just like the rest, as expected.
"Alright! Now, I think i put it here somewhere!" Junko exclaims as she begins looking around the desk. She opens the drawer, letting out a yelp of delight. "Found it!"
She scurries over to me with a small box. The box fit in the palm of her hand perfectly as she held it out to me. "Here! This is for you."
Junko grabs my hand and plops the box into my grasp. I let out a statement of gratitude before I open the box. Inside the box was a ring with the Hope's Peak symbol engraved into its metal. Along with the ring was a small piece of white paper. I pick up the paper and read what was written onto it.
"A school ring emblazoned with the school crest. It stands as proof of friendship between those who spent their youth together," I read off of the paper. I then look up at Junko with a smile. "Thank you! I love it!"
Junko laughs. "You better like it! It stands as a proof of friendship, so it was perfect for you."
I nod and slip the ring onto my finger. With the light hitting it, you could see the Hope's Peak symbol perfectly carved onto it. It was a truly beautiful ring and it was gifted by my best friend.
"This is so pretty. Thank you. I have to give you something in return-"
"No, don't worry about it! There's no need to repay me! It's fine, (N/n)!" Junko cuts me off. A grin adorns her features. "We are best friends after all! It doesn't matter if you pay me back or not, being friends is good enough for me!"
I laugh at Junko's sweet statement. "Yeah...thanks Junko."
"Eh, it's no problem! Anyways, I said we would hang out together today, right? So let's go explore the school or something!" Junko shouts, grabbing my arm and dragging me out of her dorm.
The rest of the day was spent with Junko, as promised. It had been a while since we had a fun day like this and it was refreshing to be able to hang out with my friend for the entire day. Luckily, Monokuma had not disturbed our time today. It was odd, since I was expecting him to do so. It didn't matter though because without his interruptions it allowed Junko and I to spend the day together peacefully.
I wonder why I felt a bit disappointed about the fact that he didn't visit.
When the nighttime announcement was made, Junko and I had already made it to our dorms. I lay down on my soft bed, staring at the ceiling. Today was a day where everything felt...normal. Despite the killing game, we managed to have fun. It seemed wrong to have such fun during a stressful time, but it was probably for the best. Without a few fun days, all you would feel is despair.
A yawn escapes from my parted lips when I turn my head to look at the ring Junko had gifted me. A ring symbolizing a proof of friendship. Junko claimed she got it from a school shop around here? Maybe I could look at it later on to see if I could find something for Junko.
The third day of this killing game has come to an end already. When will we be able to escape this? I wonder if we will even be able to escape.
Before I knew it, my eyes closed and I fell into an uneasy slumber.
