"Dammit Monokuma!"
When I had woken up this morning, I had the shit scared out of me by a teddy bear that was rested in my arms. It was like a teddy version of Monokuma; the thing had the same colour scheme and everything. I wasn't expected to have a stuffed animal resting with me, so I had tossed it across the room first thing in the morning.
Now it laid on the floor in the corner of the room seeming to stare longingly at me, almost asking me to pick it up. I walked over to it and glared at the plush. "Don't look at me like that."
"Look at you like what?"
Letting out a scream of surprise, I turned around to face the visitor in my room. Monokuma laughed at me before picking up the plush that resided on the floor. He held it like a baby, patting the teddy bear's head. "Wow, (Y/n)! You are so cruel to this plush...I thought you would like it!"
I scoffed, "yeah right. It's basically a teddy bear replica of you, how could I like it?"
Monokuma flinched, letting out a small gasp. "Wow! You really are cruel! How could you say that...?" He began to cry, burying his face into the plush. I was about to say something until he lifted his head, tears no longer falling from his eyes.
"Oh, I think I get it. Maybe it's just an act to hide the way you really feel for me?"
I chuckled. "Yeah right! Like I would have a crush on-"
I stopped midsentence when Monokuma held my hand, using his other arm to hug my waist. He brought my hand to his lips, kissing my knuckles.
"H-Hey! What are you-"
"So do you really feel nothing for me at all when I do stuff like this?" Monokuma questioned. There was a slight frown on his face as he spoke. His expression changed quickly, letting go of me. "Just kidding! Anyways, lemme tell you why I came here in the first place!"
He sure can change character fast.
"I just wanted to let you know that something absolutely horrendous happened to one of your dear classmates!" Monokuma announced in a cheery tone. He clapped his hands and giggled as if he was receiving some sort of gift.
"Something...happened? To who? Where?!" I grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him closer in desperation to get info from him.
"Woah, woah! Being kinda pushy, aren't we? I won't tell you the exact details, but I suggest you check the second floor, my dear~"
I let go of his shirt and walked over to the door. I twisted the doorknob and exited the room, leaving Monokuma behind. He wasn't my highest concern at the moment; finding out what happened on the second floor is.
I ran through the halls and up the stairs in a rush. After scurrying up the stairs, I could see that the door to the pool room was slightly ajar. After running all the way from my dorm to the second floor and up the stairs, I was out of breath; I took a moment to catch my breath before walking over to the pool room.

Upon opening the door, I could see that the locker room doors were also slightly open. Holding my breath, I walked over to the girls' locker room first. Pushing the door open, I let out a scream when I had seen the sight before me.
Suspended by some sort of cable, Chihiro hung by the arms with blood dripping down their face. Blood was splattered onto her clothes, dripping onto the floor below. Behind the corpse was the word, "BLOODLUST," written in what seemed to be Chihiro's blood.
Dread settled within my chest and my stomach became upset. I wanted to vomit at the sight before me. Another body had been discovered.
More students began to pour into the room, my scream most likely grabbing their attention. The other ultimates let out screams or gasps at the discovery of Chihiro's corpse. The body discovery announcement rang through the monitors, officially announcing that Chihiro was dead.
"C-Chihiro?! How could this happen again?!" Taka screamed.
"Such a brutal...no, beyond brutal way of killing someone," Byakuya spoke rather calmly.
"Of course it was brutal, dumbass! Chihiro was killed, how would it not be brutal?" I snapped at the blond.
He clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes. "That's not my point. What I'm trying to say is the murder seems way too bizarre to be something an amateur to commit. It's different from Sayaka's murder, it's almost like the murderer did this for fun."
"What are you trying to suggest, Byakuya? If you want to say something, just spit it out already."
"This is strange," Kyoko said before he could reply to my statement. "This is definitely not some sort of dying message..."
"Bloodlust...wait, doesn't this sound familiar?! Genocide Jack?!" Hiro yelled.
Genocide Jack...
"Is this some copycat trying to copy Genocide Jack's murder style...?" Hina questioned. "Why would anyone do something like this?!"
"Perhaps...it's the work of the real Genocide Jack," Byakuya suggested.
"The real Genocide Jack? You are trying to say that Genocide Jack is here in the school?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
"Going as far as to write bloodlust on the wall...it seems a bit too obvious," Celeste mumbled.
Our discussion was interrupted by a bloodcurdling scream emanating from the entrance of the locker room. I turned my head to see Toko standing there, her face as pale as a sheet of paper. She was the last one to see the murder scene and she seemed to be affected by it greatly.
"N-No...w-why?" Toko mumbled as she trembled. "Why?!"
The girl soon fainted. Hina yelped and rushed over to the unconscious female. "T-Toko! Are you okay? Wake up!!" Hina exclaimed, shaking Toko slightly.
"I doubt she'll wake up from that, Hina-"
I was proven wrong when Toko suddenly shot upward. She stared blankly ahead of her as though she couldn't see any of us. "Toko...are you alright?" I asked her, lightly tapping her shoulder.

"I'm...okay. I was just....shocked...yeah. Kyehaha," Toko mumbled.
"Woah! I think she bumped her head really hard when she fell!" Hiro shouted.
Toko began mumbling nonsense that concerned us all. Sakura suggested that someone would take her back to her room. Hina volunteering and dragging Taka along with her, the two began to bring Toko back to her dorm room, leaving the rest of us.
Not long after they left, Monokuma walked into the room, letting out a gasp. "Oh no!! Dearest Chihiro Fujisaki is dead! What a shame!"
Almost everyone sent Monokuma a harsh glare, causing him to chuckle in response. "Alright, alright! I'll get to the point, both locker rooms are unlocked for the sake of your investigation! Also, here is the Monokuma file!" He pulled the Monokuma file from his pocket, Byakuya snatching it from his hands moments after.
"Hey, you can't just steal the file from my hands!-"
"Do you have anything else to inform us of?" Byakuya cut him off.
"I- no I don't..."
"Okay then, leave us to investigate then."
Monokuma looked as though Byakuya's attitude hurt him deeply. Monokuma sniffled, turning his back towards us and walking over to the door. "Do your best investigating then...I guess." The male then left the room. After that and a bit of bickering among everyone in the room, we began investigating the scene of the crime.
"The victim was Chihiro Fujisaki. The time of death is estimated to be around 2:00 a.m. The body was discovered in the girls' locker room on the second floor of the school. The cause of death was a blow to the head with a blunt object. They were killed instantly," the Monokuma file stated.
Before checking out the corpse and such, I had went around the room and asked people if they had any information. After hearing their statements, I had made my way over to Chihiro's corpse. Her eyes, once gleaming with life, now stared blankly at the ground under herself. The scent of blood was stronger than ever now and I couldn't help but gag a bit.
I couldn't stand to look at Chihiro's expression any longer. I turned my head and investigated what she was suspended by, identifying it as some sort of extension cable. I wondered why they used this cable instead of some rope? Maybe they just couldn't find any, I suppose...
Next, I had looked more closely at the words written on the wall behind Chihiro. BLOODLUST.
According to Byakuya's statements, this was the signature that Genocide Jack would sign at all of their crime scenes. It was indeed written in blood, the most logical answer being Chihiro's blood. On the same wall as the message written in blood, there was a post of a girl in a bikini. Splattered on the poster was blood, presumably from the murder.
Backing away from the wall, I stumbled over something on the ground. I looked down by my foot to see that there was a dumbbell with bloodstains painted among the surface. Chihiro was killed by a blow with a blunt object, so this must have been the murder weapon. By that dumbbell was a bloodstain on the carpet beneath it.
I looked around the room a second time to see if there was anything else to investigate, but I couldn't find anything new. Now leaving the girls' locker room, I quickly checked out the boys' locker room.
There wasn't much to investigate in this locker room. The only things I took notes of were the poster of a popular boy band on the wall and a strange stain on the carpet. After investigating there, I stepped out of that area and walked through the hall.
I headed over to the library next. I wanted to check if there were articles about Genocide Jack to gain more information on them. Byakuya seemed to be sure it was the work of that serial killer, so if they are the main suspect, it was best to read up on them.
When I had entered the library, I saw that there were many books scattered across the desk. I walked over to it, finding a large, black book with silver words spread across its cover. "Murder Cases of Genocide Jack. TOP SECRET."
I figured that someone else had also been looking into Genocide Jack and had just left the book there. I didn't have time to look into why the book was conveniently placed there. Instead, I had picked up the book and opened it.
Upon opening it, pictures of Genocide Jack's murders were littered across the page, each picture featuring a paragraph with details of the murder. Each murder was committed in the exact same way: death from multiple stab wounds then attached to the wall using custom-made scissors.
Flipping the page, there were more details about Genocide Jack's crimes. Skimming through the paragraphs, one detail stuck out to me most.
"The suspect may potentially suffer from dissociative identity disorder."
Processing the information I had just received, I closed the book and laid it back down onto the table. What if the culprit behind this murder was suffering from dissociative identity disorder? What would happen then?
I was pulled from my thoughts by the sound of Monokuma's voice booming from the monitors. "okay, so I'm really impatient. Let's get this trial started, shall we? Everyone, please head to the red door on the first floor! See you there~"
Ah, it's finally time to uncover the truth of this case.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
