Derek had brought the kids home last night and it had caused a lot of problems. Ellis refused to sleep, refused to put on her night braces and eventually Bailey and Zola had to help.
Derek woke up several times as Ellis started crying because she wanted milk or Meredith
When Derek's alarm went off, he sighed. He needed to get up and get changed as quickly as possible before the kids woke up but it was too late. He heard footsteps in the hallway. He quickly changed his clothes and entered Ellis' bedroom where both Zola and Bailey were sitting next to her
"Hey guys" Derek smiled as he walked in
"D-addy, s-ee m-ommy!" Ellis yelled
"First breakfast, then getting ready and then we'll go to the hospital"
"N-ow!" Ellis started to throw a fit
"Breakfast first baby" Derek said and sat down on the bed, strapping her out her devices
"Do we still have blueberries?" Bailey asked Derek
"I don't think so. We still have strawberries"
"It's okay" Bailey whispered
"Can we bring the cards we made yesterday? For mommy?" Zola asked
"Of course! Let's make sure we don't forget them" Derek smiled and helped Ellis out of her bed "Let's go downstairs" Derek announced
They made their way downstairs and Derek grabbed cereal for them and placed it in front of them
The kids seemed to pick at their food instead of eating. This made Derek a bit nervous "Guys, please.. Just eat your food so we can go see mommy"
The kids started eating but stopped halfway, claiming that they weren't hungry
"M-ommy now!" Ellis yelled as she pushed her plate in front of her
"Ellie, don't. Please" Bailey told her
"N-oo" She started whining
"Come on baby" Derek lifted her up so he could change her

"P-o.. p-o-tty" Ellis whispered
"Let's help you" Derek smiled and helped her doing her business before cleaning her and changing her into a comfy outfit
"Dad, Bailey and I are ready" Zola said as she walked in
"Thanks Zo. Love you" Derek smiled and finished putting on Ellis' shoes
Ellis ran off and fell but immediately got up again as she followed Bailey to the front door
"Wait guys" Derek warned them to wait
"Hurry dad! We gotta show mommy the cards we made!" Bailey told him
Derek grabbed Ellis' bag, a few drinks and his keys and wallet and helped the kids in the car before driving off towards the hospital
...
"Mommy!" Meredith could hear the kids' running in
"Hey guys" Meredith smiled as Bailey and Zola climbed on top of the bed
Derek followed a bit later with Ellis in his arms still fuzzy from barely sleeping and throwing fits
"Hi" Meredith smiled as they entered
"M- M.. mo-mmy" Ellis whimpered
"Hey baby" Meredith looked concerned at Derek who just shook his head
As he placed her down, Meredith started to worry and checked Ellis out when she noticed she was overstretching her back again
Meredith's heart monitor started to beep as it was too high again
"She's okay. Just tired"
Meredith still looked worried and then Derek noticed something on the monitor. He quickly paged Maggie and Teddy without telling Meredith
"You paged?" They asked as they ran into the room at the same time
"You need to run a full history on that machine. I saw something when she started to worry" He told them calm to not worry the kids
Maggie nodded and printed it out and took a look at it with Teddy
"Mer, we'll be back soon" Teddy said and both surgeons left the room again
"Did you see this?" Maggie pointed something out
"Yeah.. do you think-"
"Yeah" Maggie answered before Teddy could finish her line
"Shit" Teddy mumbled
"Yeah.. shit" Maggie sighed
"We'll need to run some more tests" Teddy stated
"We'll do them now" Maggie said and stepped back into the room to inform them while Teddy was going to show the results to Bailey
"Mer?" Maggie's voice was heard in the room
"What's it?" Derek asked concerned
"We'll run an EKG to check your heart again" Maggie stated "We think you're having a heart defect"
