Meredith and Ellis were on their way to the locas pharmacy to get Carolyn's prescribed medication
Meredith parked the car and helped Ellis out of it, firmly holding her hand in the strange city
They entered the pharmacy and walked up to the cashier
"Good morning, I'm here to pick up my mother in law's prescribed meds" Meredith said
"Let me take a look" The woman smiled and walked to the back
"Ho-pital" Ellis sniffed her nose
"It smells like the hospital, that's right" Meredith laughed
"M-omm-y w-ork?" Ellis frowned
"I don't have to work" Meredith shook her head "We're here to visit nana and your aunts"
Ellis nodded in agreement "Pl-ay -side?" Ellis whispered
"Once we're back home" Meredith smiled
Once they left the store again, Meredith buckled Ellis safely into the car seat and rove back to Carolyn's house
"Bay! Bay!" Ellis yelled as she ran outside
"Ellis, shh" Meredith reminded the little girl as she ran behind her
"What's happening? Can't you just be quiet?" Derek snapped
Ellis looked at him with big, teary eyes
"Oh my- I'm sorry, Ellie.. I didn't mean to snap, I'm so sorry" Derek started to apologize as tears pooled into his eyes
But Ellis quickly ran away
"You don't yell at her, okay? She's having a hard time too" Meredith said with a disapproval look on her face and quickly ran after Ellis, finding her outside in the garden
Meredith took a seat next to Ellis who was rocking back and forth as she was fidgeting with the grass
Meredith took Ellis in her arms and kissed her forehead "Daddy didn't mean to snap at you, he's sorry" Meredith told her but Ellis wasn't listening, she was just staring right in front of her
"Ellie, Ellie baby.." Meredith snapped her fingers "Ellis, look at me" Meredith tried again but no response

Meredith brushed her fingers over Ellis' cheeks but still no response
"Ellie, it's mommy" Meredith's voice cracked
Ellis' eyes started to zone out and Meredith now was warned that a seizure was coming. She held the little girl tight as she helped her through it
"Mommy's here. I love you so so much. Once it's over, we're gonna take a nap and then we can play outside, okay? Everything's okay, baby" Meredith whispered
It took pretty long before Ellis seemed to be responsive again and she was absolutely drained
"Shall we go upstairs? Take a nap?" Meredith suggested
Ellis slowly shook her head
"What's wrong?" Meredith asked her as she cupped her daughter's face
"H-ome" Ellis whined
"You wanna go home?" Meredith asked and Ellis nodded in response "Ellie, nana's sick so we came here to help her get better" Meredith tried to explain "Do you feel that bad here?" Meredith asked, even if she already knew the answer. Ellis slept with them every night, she barely moved away from either her mom or father, she has been in pain every night what caused her to be irritated during the day
Ellis nodded her head and this got Meredith started on finding a solution, she needed to talk to Derek alone but there was barely any moment where she had Derek all alone
She went to bring Ellis up to their room and helped her getting comfortable in their bed before sneaking out once she heard the soft snores
"Derek, I need to talk to you" Meredith whispered as she entered the living room where they were all being quiet as Carolyn was asleep on the couch. The older kids were outside talking.
"Mer, I told her I'm sorry!" Derek started to defend himself once they were in the kitchen

"Derek, I know but I need to go home with her. She just admitted that she wants to go home" Meredith said "And I don't know what to do because obviously I wanna stay here and help out with your mom and stuff"
"But I have to stay here" Derek frowned
"We can ask Bailey what he wants, it's up to him but Ellis needs to go home. She's in pain and she's unhappy, Derek"
"I know, Mer.." Derek sighed and ran his fingers through his hair
"Is this a smart idea? I don't wanna let your mom down and I wanna be here for all of you" Meredith doubted her choice
"This is a smart idea. Our daughter is important to us"
Meredith nodded "Our little girl" She muttered
"You should take her home. i can help you pack and then you can say goodbye to everyone" Derek whispered before kissing her "Will you be fine with her on the plane by yourself and with all her special needs?"
"I got this, I'm doing this for Ellie"

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.

After hours of thought, she's at the verge of giving up hope on it altogether, until she realizes she has a unique edge on her fellow peers when it comes to doing research in a unique environment; A very unique environment. Her father is the kingdom's only magitech substation rounds officer: an incredibly important job that only requires a single person.
