《Never grow up [1/2]》33

"Your dad is a brainless man" Maggie said as she entered the room
"I hope he's coming home" Zola sighed
"It will be okay" She rubbed Zola's shoulder
"N-No!" Ellis started stirring "N-o!" She raised her voice
Before Zola or Maggie could react, Meredith woke up and her heart rate monitor started beeping
"Mom-" Zola jumped up
"Shh Ellie" Meredith wrapped her arm around her daughter that was curled up around her and Ellis fell back asleep
"Hi Mer, how are you feeling?" Maggie asked calmly as she noticed Meredith's heart rate slowed down a bit once Ellis was comfortable again
"I'm okay" Meredith mumbled "Zozo, go home, you don't have to stay here"
"Mom, it's okay. I can stay here" Zola smiled
"Love you baby" Meredith whispered before she closed her eyes again
...
"Is everyone ready?" Alex asked as he grabbed Meredith's stuff
"H-Home!" Ellis giggled
"Home" Meredith echoed
"H-Hun.. Dinn-er!"
"In a bit Ellie" Meredith giggled and got up on her feet. She had made Maggie clear that she didn't want a wheelchair as it would upset her youngest daughter even more
Zola grabbed her mom's arm as Ellis was holding onto Meredith's other hand
"F-Fast!" Ellis started pulling onto Meredith's arm
"Ellis!" Zola lost her patience "We'll take it slow and when we're home, mommy needs some rest and you and I will make some dinner
"Zo, you really don't have to make di-" Meredith started but Zola interrupted her
"Mom, you need to look after yourself, please" Zola begged
"Zozo, I have to look for plane tickets with her, I have to prepare her for flying, you weren't there last time she flew without any preparation it was awful! People were awful!" Meredith was fighting back the tears "Your dad and Bailey miss her, she misses them and I don't wanna hold that back" She quietly added

"But dad can come here!" Zola argued
"Nana's sick-" Meredith started again but got interrupted by Zola
"She's in remission which gives them time to come over even if it's just for a bit" Zola said sternly
Meredith sighed and dropped it as she saw Ellis' frowning at them
"M-Mean!" Ellis yelled
"ZoZo isn't mean honey, she isn't yelling at mommy" Meredith tried to explain
"Yes!" Ellis quickly replied
"No Ellie, I love mommy as much as you do" Zola quietly explained
"N-o y-yell" Ellis frowned
"You yell too at mommy when you're angry or when you're tired. You've been yelling since daddy's in New York" Alex jumped in
"M-ommy?" Ellis frowned
"That's true honey, you weren't nice to me" Meredith said as a tear escaped her eyes. She tried to wipe it away as fast as possible but it was too slow. Ellis had noticed and her lower lip started to tremble. Meredith quickly pulled her youngest daughter in her arms before Zola joined their hug
"S-Sorry" Ellis kept sobbing "S-Sorry m-ommy"
"It's okay baby but try not to do it again, it really hurts me" Meredith rubbed both daughters backs
"I t-ry lots!" Ellis promised "Zo?"
"I'll try too" Zola winked and kissed both Ellis and Meredith's head
"Let's go home now" Meredith said and followed Alex outside as she tightly held onto her two daughters
...
Meredith was laying down in her own bed. She could hear Zola and Ellis' laughs in the background which caused her to smile
She was thinking about what had happened all these past years. She loved everything about it. She loved Zola who they adopted after her miscarriage, then they had gotten Bailey during a super storm and quickly after they had Ellis. Despite the brain injury, caused by the heavy story of how the birth of Ellis went, Meredith loved every single moment of it. She can still remember holding all three of her kids for the very first time. She could remember the smile she and Derek shared through all their memories together

Meredith was pulled out of her thoughts when someone knocked on the bedroom door
"Yeah?" She replied
"Mom!" Bailey ran in and quickly ran up to hug his mom
"I missed you so much" Meredith pulled him closer
"I missed you too mom! I'm gonna say Hi to Zo and Ellie!" He announced
"Hi" Derek smiled and walked in
"Hi" Meredith smiled back, not really knowing what to say
"I'm so sorry, Mer." Derek sat down next to her "I didn't realise how much pain I caused all of you, I-" Derek started to apologize but Meredith interrupted him
"Don't. It takes two Derek" She sighed
"No, I never should have expected you to give up everything and fly over to New York" Derek grabbed her hand
"I'm so happy you're here now" Meredith said as she grabbed Derek's hand
"I love you Meredith" Derek said and kissed her
...
One year later
Meredith and Ellis were laying on the couch together as Derek walked in
"How is she?" He asked
"She's good now" Meredith smiled softly "This was her first seizure in four weeks"
"I'm so glad we found something that works for her" Derek sat next to Meredith and brushed his hand through Ellis' hair
"When will Bailey be home?" Meredith asked
"I think around 3pm" Derek smiled before kissing Meredith's lips "Zola's coming over for dinner" Derek told them
"So happy she lives in our dream house" Meredith giggled
"I'm happy that house got a good purpose now instead of using it just for our own vacations" Derek smiled to his wife
"Do you regret it? Do you regret moving out for Ellie?" Meredith asked Derek
"Not at all. All I ever wanted was my family, this house is perfect for us" Derek squeezed her hand
"I love you so much Derek. Thank you for all of that" Meredith smiled and rested her head onto Derek's chest as she listened to his steady heart beat, realizing none of this is a dream

City of Mages: Mage War Chronicles Book One
This book is COMPLETELY FINISHED as of 3/10/22, with a sequel currently serializing HERE. Born a fire mage, destined for something greater. For hundreds of years, Sombria has lived in peace thanks to the delicate balance the Council fosters between those with magic and those without. But unrest is brewing under the surface of Sombria, and the Council's tenuous hold may be on the verge of collapsing. All Alara ever wanted was to become a soldier, fighting to protect Sombria from the bruya rebels that threaten its borders with their chaotic magic and lawlessness. In order to succeed, she must first conquer her worst fear--her own innate magical abilities. Quenti, raised to hate the oppressive thumb of the Council, has only ever wanted a life of peace away from those who wish to control her. When her abilities are revealed, she finds herself at the center of a world she grew up despising, where magic is suppressed under the illusion of control. And her only means of escape may lie in trusting those she grew up doubting most. When Alara is given one final chance to prove she's worthy of being called a Mage of Sombria, the key to her success may lie within the untrusting Quenti. And Quenti doesn't plan on making things easy. Though as their two lives come crashing together, trusting each other may be the only choice they have to survive what's coming. -- COMMENT AND FOLLOW! 📕 This story is completely written, but these postings on Royal Road double as a beta run, so please feel free to point out typos or inconsistencies. 📖 Content Guidelines: Mild language, PG-13-level violence

Lemur Goes to Forash
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Rakkel arrives in Forash City with nothing but the contents of xir messenger bag and a desire to see the legendary Forash Marketplace. The only catch is that xir body was long ago converted to that of an anthropomorphic lemur. This sort of thing is commonplace where xe comes from. In Forash, not so much. Will the people of Forash accept xir among them? Will anyone even buy the trinkets xe brought along to sell? And in a city full of stock humans, what sort of attention might xe attract from the handful of fellow body-modders who already live there?

Peerless Hegemon
Warning: Can be quite tearjerking and depressing (or so others say). If you are weak to that and hates that kind of thing, then this story is not for you === Ye Feng lived two lives in one lifetime. First, he basked in the light of Righteousness, becoming an idol of peace and justice. Second, he trod the mired path of the Darkest Path, becoming an object of fear and death. One lifetime, Two Identities, countless experiences, still without purpose. A meaningless existence. An empty husk. In his selfishness of wanting to fill the void in him, he became the catalyst that destroyed Reality. He now controlled everything, ultimate power, uncontestable by none. But he cast it away, to be reborn anew. With a new name and a family, his goal was to understand, his place. To understand how to no longer feel empty. With his family consisting of a Reincarnated Twin Sister and Parents with inscrutable pasts, his desire was not that of grandeur. In this lifetime, he wishes not to hold power, not to gain eternal life, nor control of everything, he only wishes to live, and hopefully look at sunrise with a smile on his face. === Disclaimer: The story focuses on the Main Character’s emotional and personality growth. He is someone who is, obviously OP in some perspectives but almost crippled in others. He is not soft and does not spare anyone because it is “Bad” so expect that there would be genocide and some bloody encounters. I want this instead of just the MC’s search for life and its complication. Where Philosophy and values exist. A story where every action has proper consequences, and not everything can be conquered with a single punch (unless it can be, no need for an unnecessary complication if it can be avoided). Further Notes: This is a story that will gradually increase in word counts and become Chunkier as it progresses and will almost never be below 2000 words, but if the word count will only lengthen the chapter at the expense of a finished tale, it could and would be cut off before 2000 mark), give it a try, it won’t disappoint (I hope). And if by chance that you like it, giving a good Rating and Review will be encouraging to me and possible readers. Schedule: Monday and Friday If you want to read ahead and/or support me to creating this story, you can do it through my Patreon (link below the next chapter button.)
