"Meredith, we're gonna discharge you today" Miranda said as she walked into Meredith's room
Meredith, Ellis and Bailey sat on the bed, watching some clips on YouTube while Derek helped Zola with her homework
"Yes! The kids yelled "Mommy's coming home" Bailey said and did one of his dancy dancey's.
Meredith chuckled, happy to receive this news and happy with the thoughts of being home with her family.
"Which house are you gonna stay in?" Miranda asked
"Our house" Meredith instantly replied
"Hmm" Miranda doubted this
"We actually haven't decided yet" Derek said
"Mommy? Why would we go to the old house?" Little Ellis whispered
"We won't" Meredith replied and rubbed the girl's back
"We'll put a portable oxygen tank ready for you" Maggie said
Meredith nodded again
"And you're on strict bed rest. I only wanna see you move from the couch to the toilet and no stairs when Derek isn't around" Teddy added with a stern face, knowing that Meredith will do everything to break the rules.
"I'll take care of that" Derek said
"We'll help" Zola said proud
Meredith sighed, feeling bad for them. "I'll be fine" She whispered
"Both of you are doctors, you know the signs of infection. If anything happens, just come in, we'll be prepared for you, okay?" Maggie said
They all nodded
"We'll expect you on monday morning for your oxygen therapy" Teddy added
"We'll get everything ready for you" Miranda said as they all left
Meredith sat up a bit more and swung her legs off the bed
"Hey, already trying to escape?" Derek laughed
"I'm gonna help you pack and I wanna change my clothes"
"Mer, sit down. Packing will be fast and I'll help you change" Derek said and pressed a kiss on her lips
"We'll help!" Bailey and Zola sprung up while Ellis cuddled closer in Meredith's embrace

"I can help" She sighed and tears sprung in her eyes
"Mer, I know that but we just wanna take care of you, please let us" Derek begged as he walked closer to her, holding her in his arms as she broke down
"I'm so sick of being sick" She whispered
Zola and Bailey got in the bed too and hugged Meredith "We love you mommy" Bailey said
"We want you to get better" Zola added
"I know.. I.. I love you so, so much!" Meredith whispered as Derek siper her tears away
"Now let's pack." Bailey said as he jumped off the bed "I wanna show my new toys to mommy once we're home"
Meredith and Derek had to laugh. Even now, when Meredith was being life threateningly sick, her family could make her laugh.
...
Derek helped Meredith up while Maggie grabbed the oxygen tank and hooked it up on the wheelchair. Meredith's lungs had a hard time recovering from this last infection so Teddy wanted her on oxygen at all times to not put a string on her lungs
"Mommy, can I sit on your lap?" Ellis asked
"Of course" Meredith smiled, out of breath just because of getting out of bed and taking a seat.
Derek's eyes were full of worry. He was a bit scared to take her home. 'What if she stops breathing' kept going through his mind.
"I'll carry the bag!" Bailey offered
"No need to, bud. I'm gonna walk with you to the car" Alex said and grabbed Meredith's bag
The family and Alex made their way to Derek's car. Alex was putting her bag in the trunk of the car and went over to help Ellis buckle in the car seat. Derek placed Meredith in the passenger's seat and got in himself. "Thanks Alex"

"No problem, Shep. I'll come over once my shift has finished. Should I bring some food?"
"Would be nice, I don't think we have much stocked at home since we've been here all week" Derek answered
"I'll go do some grocery shopping then" Alex said and waved them out before returning back into the hospital
"Hmm.. I've missed this" Meredith said once they got on the ferry "I wanna go out"
"Maybe it's better if we don't, I don't want you to catch a cold" Derek said with sad eyes
"Hmm.. you're right" She admitted and rested her head against the window
As the kids were playing some games during the car ride, Meredith had dozen off. Derek kept concerned when he was listening to her taking heavy breaths, scared that they would stop.
A bit before they reached the house, she woke up again and burst into a coughing fit. Unable to catch her breath. Derek immediately noticed and pulled over the car.
"Shh, shh" He said as he stroked her hair
"I.. Der"
"Shh, don't talk. Focus on breathing" He whispered
The kids got concerned and slightly started to panic. Ellis was crying but tried not to worry her parents even more
"I'm.. I'm.. okay" She panted a couple of minutes later
"Once we're home you can change the nasal cannula for the mask. That'll help" Derek said and started driving. He checked on the kids in the mirror, noticing their scared expressions "We'll be home soon guys" He tried to smile
The final minutes were spent in absolute silence. When Derek parked the car he got the kids out before moving over to Meredith.
"I'll grab your oxygen. Just get up" he said while helping her. She stood up, needing all Derek's support to make it to the front door to be helped to the couch when Zola and Bailey helped her get comfortable. Ellis ran off, crying. Meredith didn't notice and fell asleep right away "I'll go see Ellie. Can you tell dad?" Zola asked Bailey
"Daddy?" Bailey called out as he got out back to the car "Mommy's asleep but Ellie ran of crying" he said
"Thanks Bails for telling me. I'll check on her" Derek said, locking the car and walking in with all the stuff. He placed it next to the door. He had to check on Ellis first

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. Embers in the Ash
Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!

Eve's Guide to Ghost Removal
Eve isn’t interested in anything remotely spooky -- especially not that Paranormal Bullshit. She’s had enough of that already, thank you very much, and now that she’s on her own in a new town, all she wants is to be left alone. She just wants to study the Blackwater Henges, do her job, and have absolutely nothing to do with other people’s problems. Unfortunately, the town of Blackwood seems to have other plans: Eve's new apartment seems haunted, a missing girl is all anyone in town will talk about, and Eve draws perilously closer to getting dragged into people's problems. So much for living a life unbothered by Paranormal Bullshit. Eve is nothing if not stubborn, though. If Paranormal Bullshit wants to drag her into something, she’s going to make it regret that decision.
