It's been two days since the incident in the changing rooms and when I got home I was pretty shaken up. I went straight to my room and cried the whole night. I just don't understand what I did to deserve all of this? I should feel grateful that I had someone there who saved me.
Out of everyone in this school -- it had to be Reese Black.
I was surprised by how caring and compassionate he was towards me, he even gave me his shirt that I still have with me. A selfish part of me doesn't want to give it back, I have no idea why? It's just a piece of clothing. The navy blue material is soft and warm and has the faintest smell of soap detergent and musk aftershave. It smells of him.
I was scared when I saw the fury in Reese's eyes, the last thing I wanted was Reese to kick Jaxon's ass and then Reese to be expelled. Everyone would no doubt blame me for the beating of the star quarterback and the star of the town's hottest rock band to be thrown out of school.
I kept my head down. Luckily no one mentioned anything and Jaxon never even looked my way during school. I did see Reese watching me during English class and at lunch. I gave him a genuine smile, trying to tell him how grateful I am for him saving me and finding my journal full of songs. I've been stressing for days. I'm glad I have it back with me.
Reese smiled back, revealing a small dimple on his right cheek. My body jolted, like an electric current travelling down my spine. Oh God, why does he have to be so handsome?
The bad boy's always are, I think to myself.
"Are you smiling at Reese Black?" I jump up in my seat, having been caught by Sky.
She smirks at me, her eyebrow raised in question.
"Umm... no, I wasn't smiling." she looks back over at his table where he's sat with his bandmates.
"Well, he's staring at you, and he was smiling. What's up with you two?" she giggles.

I open my mouth to answer when a guy with a short buzz-cut head sits down next to Sky, my eyes grow wide and my jaw hits the table. He slings his arm around her and she blushes at least three different shades of pink.
"Hey, Sunny Sky." I grin like the Cheshire cat when I see Sky's expression. She looks flustered and a little annoyed.
"Marnie this is Kyle, Kyle this is my new friend Marnie." Kyle gives me a boyish smile and I return a smile of my own.
"Nice to meet you." he says politely.
"Why aren't you sitting with your friends?" his sterling grey eyes look down at her.
"Can't I sit with my favourite girl?"
My body lights up with excitement. They are so cute together.
"I feel like you're going to ask me something, what do you want?" he chuckles and Sky crosses her eyebrows, giving him a pointed look.
"I was going to ask you and your friend if you wanted to come to a party tomorrow night?" A party!? I never thought I'd be invited to a high school party.
"You know I don't go to parties." Sky mumbles.
Kyle sighs, turning his body towards her. Those sterling eyes looking at her with... adoration.
"Please. How long have we been friends?"
Sky smiles, looking down. "Since kindergarten."
Swoon.
"You know that I would look out for you no matter what. Pretty please with a cherry on top, come to the party?" he pouts his bottom lip.
Sky sighs, "Fine, but you have to buy me and Marnie an ice cream every day for the next week."
He beams, his sterling eyes turning silver. "Done."
"Your room is amazing!" Sky spins around on the spot, her eyes wide with interest.
I smile, heading over to my walk-in wardrobe. "Thank you."
I turn at the sound of my baby calling for me, I crouch down and scoop up a small furball, kissing her soft hair. "Aww so cute, what's its name?"
"This is Baby," I coo.
Sky giggles, "Why Baby?"
"Because my favourite movie is Dirty Dancing," I put Baby down on my bed and she closes her blue eyes, purring in contentment. "So what do we wear tonight?"

Sky's brown eyes sparkle and then she follows me into the wardrobe, her hand trailing along the clothes hanging up. I have a few different options, but I thought I'd invite Sky over to help me pick the right outfit. She jumped at the chance to come over.
"Holy shit, is this Prada?" I chuckle, Sky looks like a kid in a candy store.
"Yeah, do want to try it on?" her eyes brighten, though she shakes her head, looking down at the short gold sequin dress in her hands. "I couldn't."
I take the dress off the hanger, placing it over her arm. "I think it would look amazing on you. If you don't like it you don't have to wear it." I shrug my shoulders.
"Are you sure?"
I smile. "What are friends for?"
Sky grins from ear to ear. "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
I laugh hugging my new best friend, but then my face turns serious. "One condition. I need your help picking something to wear."
Sky nods her head, looking around my closet. "Well, I think you have that 'rock chick princess' vibe which is hot but... I think you need to step it up tonight."
"What do you mean?"
Sky holds up a black, crop tube top and I blush. "Hot to... sexy."
I don't even know why I purchased that top, I know I would never wear it in public. She then grabs a pair of black faux leather slim pants which still have a price tag on them.
"Okay shoes..." she taps her index finger on her mouth as she gazes at the wall of shoes. She smiles wide when she spots the black leather boots with diamonds around the heels.
"They are stunning." I stand motionless, looking at the boots tucked at the bottom shelf.
I bite the inside of my cheek, "They are. They belong to my mother." I remember when I was little, I would sneak into my mom's closet and wear these exact boots, thinking I was the hottest supermodel in the world.
I admired my mother when I was a small child.
"Oh. I can pick something else--" I wave her off, picking up the boots. "These are perfect."
After we change, Sky suggests I wave my blonde hair, giving it that messy mermaid effect. The dress looks amazing on Sky, it compliments her olive skin tone and dark features. She ties her hair up in a sleek ponytail and she wears a small amount of makeup, leaving her glasses behind and wearing contacts instead.
When I apply the finishing touches to my makeup in the bathroom mirror, I decide to ask Sky about the boy in the cafeteria yesterday.
"So you and Kyle seem friendly."
She looks down, the apples of her cheeks burning up. "Yeah, we've known each other forever."
I apply a small black wing liner on top of both my eyelids, steadying my hands so I don't mess up. "Do you like him?"
Sky scoffs, "Kyle has always been sweet to me, but he's in a science club and I'm just me. I'm not in any group, I'm not sociable. It's always just been me."
"It doesn't mean he doesn't like you, he came over to our table just to speak to you Sky."
She straightens her soft brown hair, thinking deeply. "Do you think he likes me?"
I smile, "I think he wanted you to be at that party tonight."
Sky giggles while I finish applying my ruby-red lipstick.
"Oh my, Marnie..." Sky walks behind me. "You look so pretty. Your eyes look so.... wow, your lips look lovely and your hair is gorgeous."
I smile, "Thanks."
Half an hour passes by after we snap a few pictures and leave my house. Nanny Grace is home with my mom so I won't have to worry about her tonight.
When we approach the big house only a couple of blocks away from mine, my heart beats like a drum in my chest. I'm so excited about my first house party. This is exactly what I wanted to experience since my first day at high school.
I can't wait to tick this off my list.
