When I first saw Marnie at Ashley's house party, I couldn't believe the girl I saw standing in front of me. She looked hot. Her clothes were skin-tight, showing off her hourglass figure, and her makeup brought out her features and she glowed.
I think I stood there staring at her like a creep for a while before Matt came over telling me to get ready for our performance tonight.
Instead of setting up, I looked at the tempting blonde on the other side of the room. I couldn't help it, I just had to go over and talk to her.
When I called her name, she twirled around and her dazzling blue eyes connected with mine. She quite literally took my breath away, my eyes trailed down to her outfit -- the tight black clothing hugging her curves beautifully.
Her skin was creamy, I just wanted to run my hands over the soft flesh while kissing her full red lips. Although she looks like the girls I tend to hook up with -- I didn't see her that way.
This was a girl I wanted to devour slowly, taking my time to truly appreciate her.
This girl was driving me insane.
After I told her I had to go and perform, my eyes still never left her. I was worried something might happen to her since the incident that day in the girls changing rooms. So my eyes stayed on her like a magnet.
When we performed our latest songs, I watched her the entire time, like she was the only girl in the room. Her blue orbs were bright with curiosity and excitement.
The second my gaze left hers, she was already near the stage looking up at me. I could see she was under the influence of alcohol. I don't know what she was thinking, yet, it didn't stop me from pulling her up on stage.
She told me she wanted to sing and I couldn't believe my ears.
The day I heard her singing, I knew she had pure talent. I didn't think she would have the confidence to perform in front of a crowd.
So I stood there with furrowed brows, deliberating.
Should I let her do this? What if she regrets this tomorrow?
She's had a few drinks tonight, but maybe this is what she needs to be heard. Let everyone see how good she is. I could help her get noticed. I wanted to help her.

I still remember the song she sang, it was a song that deserved to be heard. I asked Marnie if she was serious with what she was about to do and when she gave me her approval -- it was enough for me to continue.
I started playing her song on my guitar while she proceeded to walk over to the microphone.
Of course, I remembered her song. I couldn't get it out of my head the day I heard it. And like the asshole I am, I also looked through her music journal. Sorry, not sorry.
The room fell silent.
Her angelic voice coursed through the packed room. Everyone's eyes were on her. I tried to keep my cool and keep up with her voice. It fascinated me so much how she could hit every note so perfectly.
You could feel all her emotions and I'm guessing everyone else in this place could feel them too. She was the shining star in the night sky. She was a butterfly, growing her beautiful wings for the first time.
I knew the song was coming to an end and when it did, the entire room went exceptionally quiet, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
I watched Marnie with pride. Her chest heaved up and down as she stared at the plain wall opposite her.
The room paused in awkward silence as they took in the blonde on stage -- awestruck.
I'm starting to think this was a really bad idea. Fuck, this is all my fault.
Just when I thought Marnie was going to get shouted offstage, a small brunette started cheering her on, which only caused more cheers to spread like wildfire throughout the entire room.
Soon enough the whole place roared with uncontrollable cheers as I glanced over at Marnie, grinning wide.
She did it.
Her eyes were glassy, her cheeks tinted an adorable pink.
My bandmates glanced at each other, wondering what the hell just happened here.
I'm thinking the same thing.
This was history in the making. This girl is a huge star in the making and we all just witnessed it.
After another moment of soaking up the excitement, I pull my guitar over my head and lay it down on the floor. I didn't think twice when I take Marnie's hand in mine and lead her out of the room.
Many eyes watch us as we walk from the room. A lot still cheered and clapped for her. Marnie glows like a shining star and I grin down at her.

I lead her through the house and up the steps, searching for a quiet place. There is an empty closet which I creak open and pull Marnie inside with me. I lock the door and we are left alone in the dark.
I reach the wall for a light, luckily I found one. Bingo. With a click, it illuminates what looks like a small supply closet that might fit maybe two or three people inside.
My heart is beating like a drum in my chest, I'm pretty sure she can hear it from here. Marnie looks up at me through her long lashes, probably wondering what I'm doing.
What am I doing right now?
I just wanted to be alone with her. I wanted her to myself. I'm so selfish.
I reach out my hand to feel the soft skin of her cheekbone, trailing my fingers down her jawline. She never blinks once but I can see how nervous she is.
"I can't stop thinking about you. You're driving me crazy." the truth slips from my lips and her eyes widen at my admission.
I'm shocked myself.
My hand cups her neck, brushing my thumb near her throat very gently. She leans into me, waiting for my next move. Suddenly, something inside my mind clicks, telling me how wrong this is.
I dragged this girl away after that amazing performance, into a stuffy little room, confessing that I'm crazy about her. Not to mention she's possibly intoxicated right now, leading her to think I'm hitting on her.
Fuck, I'm an asshole. She doesn't deserve this, she doesn't deserve a guy like me.
I pull back as she leans in. I clear my throat. "You were amazing up there."
"So were you," she whispers, "Thank you, for you know, playing my song."
I smile, "You don't have to thank me, it's a great song." her blue eyes brighten a shade and my pulse races. She's beautiful. I want to kiss her so bad.
A faint knock is heard behind the door and we both freeze. "Marnie, are you in there?"
Marnie yelps, it's the most adorable sound I've ever heard. She pushes my chest away before pulling the door wide open to come face to face-with the small brunette.
The girl frowns when she sees Marnie and then her mocha-coloured eyes grow like saucers when she notices me standing directly behind her.
"Oh, I see. I'm so sorry." the girl steps back as Marnie steps forward.
"No, we weren't doing anything." I hold my laughter at Marnie's flushed state. "Are you okay?"
The girl smiles. "Yeah, I was just wondering if you are ready to go home?"
Marnie nods her head quickly. "Yeah of course."
She looks back at me. "Thank you again, for everything."
I nod, "Are you sure you're okay getting home?"
How are they even getting home at this time?
"Yeah, my brother is driving us home." the brunette explains and I nod again.
Marnie and I say goodbye and then she disappears down the hall and I'm left staring after her. I walk back downstairs to find my bandmates in the kitchen drinking shots.
I grab a bottle of beer as Matt approaches me.
"Holy shit dude, that girl can sing."
Everyone else agrees while Harley scoffs in the corner. I hardly care about her opinion.
"Maybe she should join the band." JJ jokes.
I start thinking about the crazy, impossible idea of Marnie and me singing together.
No, it's a stupid idea. It would never work.
Maybe my attraction to the girl has made my head fucked. I'm only thinking with my dick and I need to shake all thoughts of her out of my head before I end up doing something stupid.
I need alcohol and forget about the blonde constantly haunting my thoughts.
A hand wraps around my waist and I don't even turn at the squeaky voice next to me.
"Hey, Reese." I grimace.
"Hey, Harley."
"Have a drink with me?" her floral perfume overtakes my nose. I need to stay clear of Harley tonight, but after a couple of drinks I always end up in bed with her.
"I already have one, thanks." I hold up my beer bottle and then lift it to my mouth, taking a slow drink.
"Fine." she sighs, walking over to Roxy with a dramatic hair flick in my direction.
I spend the rest of the night drinking with my friends. A few girls glance over at me and a least two come over to flirt. It is the first time I've turned down a random hookup. Matt and JJ couldn't believe it and neither could I.
My mind was elsewhere -- a certain pretty blonde with an angelic voice.
I'm screwed.

The Hazards of Skinny Dipping
This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.
