《The ThickGirl and The Badboy》Chapter 29: Nerves

I wasn't sure what to think when I told my mom about homecoming.
That she'd congratulate me?
Be proud of me for even getting a date?
Or shower me in love like the loving mother that she is..
Yeah, right.
Her reaction was pretty much the second choice.
"Did you really?!" She shouted at me surprised when I was litteraly 2 feet away from her.
"Yes! Mom I've already told you like five times and you keep answering with the same response Five Times."
"Oh Leeny that's great, I remember my first homecoming dance. It was miserable, with my date having constipation every second but overall it was amazing!"
I gave her a gorss face.
I really didn't need to know that.
"We need to go dress shopping, and shoe shopping, and makeup shopping!"
"Mom it's not that big of a deal, I just wanted to let you know so when he comes over you won't be clueless."
"When is he coming? How does he look like?"
"That, my dear mother,is for you to find out tonight."
"But it's already 4:00pm aren't you gonna get ready? What are you gonna wear? Can I at least help you?"
I rolled my eyes," I think I am capable of getting ready by myself. I'm not in kindergarten where you'd always put pig tails on my head. Besides, the dance doesn't start until 7:30 so I'm just gonna be chillin until 5."
She sighed with a hint of aggression peeking through.
"I suppose you are old enough to do that.."
"Yes. Yes I am."
As I went back to my room and tried to relax before the time came, I thought of all the possible outcomes that can go wrong tonight.
Like what if he cancels after I get ready?
What if he changes his mind about coming with me?
What if he treats me like crap during the whole night?
What if- Ok ok, I might be overthinking about it just a little, but what girl wouldn't right?
I'm all jittery that my stomach is fluttering in a nervous reaction and I hate that feeling.
So I distracted myself by looking up makeup ideas to prevent from being a nervous wreck.
*several hours later*
"Leen, your date is here but he still seems to be in his car-Oh honey, you look wonderful!"
"Realy? Thanks mom it means alot to me. Do you think it's too much?"
"Absolutely not, if you got it, flex it!"
I laughed, "I guess, should I go to him? Or should I wait until he gets out and then go to him?" I asked biting my lip.
My stomach was fluttering again, and I had to sit down and move my leg to calm it down.

"Wait until he comes out, I'm sure he's just as nervous as you are."
"Who says I'm nervous? Pft, I'm not nervous. Noope, I'm cool down here. It's, it's all cool." I faked a confident smile.
She crossed her arms and stared me down, then looked towards my moving leg and arched her eyebrow up.
I stopped it then smiled at her again reassuring.
"Ok, im gonna go see if he's out."
"Ok! I'll, I'll wait here I guess."
I looked around my room sighing frustrated, I don't know why I'm nervous for some stupid dance, I've never felt nervous about anything! Not districts or tournaments, or even state.
I mean I've always felt anxious before my performance, anxious to just get it over with, but nervous? I didn't want to go. I didn't want to go at all! I'd rather lay in bed, and wrap myself like a cocoon with a soft fury blanket, and watch Big Time Rush episodes on TV.
"Yes, she's upstairs getting ready." I heard my mom respond loudly, while a murmur was heard not so clearly.
That's probably my cue to come downstairs.
I took a deep breath, gathered my stuff, and headed downstairs slowly.
With my nerves and luck, I might as well fall of these stairs in front of him.
As I walked closer down to the living room, I saw him sitting there.. and my heart couldn't help but do alittle flip once I recognized him.
He looked so handsome in a tux, and his hair?
Gosh, I almost died in the spot.
He looked perfect, almost too good to be true.
"Oh, just in time. I'll go get the camera, I wish your father was here to see this Leeny."
I smiled at her then looked at Bryson, who's eyes were fixated on me. My face felt hot.
I couldn't tell what his eyes held, amusement? Amazement? But what I did know, is that I couldn't possibly be feeling the sparks alone.
He smiled at me, and I smiled at him..awkwardly.
"You look..nice." He commented with a gleam in his eyes as he still stared me down.
I raised my eyebrow and crossed my arms, smiling at him flirtily,"Nice? Don't you think I deserve a compliment with the word beautiful instead? Because I spent hours getting ready and I won't settle for nice."
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "Ok you look beautiful ThunderThighs."
I couldn't help but blush alittle as the words came out of his mouth and his cheeks turned a tinge of pink too.
"I got the camera! Now pose over there by my fancy wall art." My mom chimed, pushing us towards the direction she wanted us in.

I didn't know how to pose, so i just stood there awkwardly, and he must've thought the same thing because he did too.
"Oh c'mon, are ya'll strangers? No, you're together now Bryson put your arm around my daughter and bring her in close."
"Mom..." I scolded her with my eyes, she only smiled and looked towards Bryson who surprisingly did what he was told.
He pulled me in by the waist and slightly leaned on me. My nose inhaled his cologne and clean smell and I sighed happily inside.
'He smells soo good.' I thought dreamily.
"Now Leeny, you lean in towards Bryson. Put your head on his shoulder."
"But I'm too short-" I protested.
"Honey with those heels you're not, now do what your mother tells you so."
I bit my lip and leaned on his shoulder awkwardly, I could feel him looking towards me and smiling smugly.
My mom took the picture without warning, "Perfect! Now another one. Look towards the camera this time!"
The photoshoot my mom was having took at least 30 minutes long, she wanted to take more to have choices to post them on her Facebook, but I insisted we were running late.
"Oh okay, you kids have fun." She looked towards Bryson then winked at me. "It's a pleasure to see you again Bryson."
"The pleasure is all mine. Have a good night." He shook my moms hand then took mine.
I jumped in surprise but didn't let go, I'd never admit it to him but I liked holding his hand.
It made me feel safe and secure.
But he suddenly broke the hold to open the door for me on the way out, making me feel a tad bit disappointed.
"She likes you." I spoke through the silence between us.
"Huh?" He questioned me while opening the car door for me.
I gotta admit, I could get used to the gentlemaness.
"My mom likes you." I told him again once he was inside.
"Oh, I know. Some parents love me for my dad's
background, or some hate me for my background. I'm guessing your mom likes me because of my dads background."
"It's that obvious huh?"
"Not that obvious." He winked at me. He moved his hand as if he was gonna place it on my leg, but instead it seemed like he changed his mind, and acted it out to just put it on center console.
I raised my eyebrow at him.
'Im just gonna pretend i didn't notice that...'
"Soo..you took a long time to get ready for me huh?" Bryce interupted the silence between us.
I scoffed,"It's not always about you Anderson. I'm really slow when it comes to getting ready for an occasion."
"The fastest runner? Slow at something? Well there's a shocker."
"Joke all you want Anders, but I'm still faster than you." I teased.
"Yeah right, remember our last competition? I smoked you!"
"It was beginner's luck!"
"Sure it was, you keep telling yourself that ThunderThighs."
"I will."
"Just let it fill your ego."
I gasped," I do not have an ego. If anything, you do!"
"I know I do, it doesn't bother me. You however.."
"I don't have an ego Bryce.." I crossed my arms and looked towards the window, we were almost to school and my stomach flipped.
I started to get that nervous feeling again.
How could I forget about the dance, I haven't even thought about it once while chatting with him.
I just wanted to stay in here and talk without getting judged, because I know damn well people are gonna be staring and talking.
We were soon down in the students parking lot area, where it was filled!
No sighn of any space.
"Great, are we gonna have to park far away in order to get in?" I complained loudly.
"Hell no, I'm not gonna park my car somehwere where there's no cameras. And we can't have you walk the distance with heels on. We're gonna park in the luxury parking lot called:The Teacher's Parking Lot.."
"What?" I panicked slapping his arm lightly," We can't park there! We'll get in trouble!"
"ThunderThighs, as Student Athletes we can get away with anything." He smiled smugly.
"No you can't! Did I get away with beating Sean's ass? Or what about Kimberly's? If we get in trouble I'm gonna blame it all on you."
"Wow, snitch on your guy why don't you."
"You're not my guy..." I mumbled quietly blushing.
"What was that?"
"Nothing. Just nervous."
Which was true.
He looked at me for a moment then got up to open the door for me.
"Ready for the night of your life?" He asked me with his hand held towards me.
He wore a boyish grin with a sparkle in his eyes, and I swear my heart almost stopped by how good he looked.
"Definitely ready for a night with you." I responded to him putting my hand in his.
I may not know him that well, he was a boy with mysteries, but I was finally prepared to face whatever was gonna happen tonight with him.
