《Wolfs Bride(bwwm)》Chapter Seven

He chuckled lifting a hand to my face, "So you don't always day-dream during the meetings?"
I frowned, "I day-dream but my ears still work and it's too obvious that my father has been irritated with Warricks growing pack."
His ice blue eyes darkened, "Warrick... is that the one who was bald?"
I nodded, "He's one of the oldest tribe members. I've never known why he and my father don't get along, but he's always been going for the tribe leader position."
"How does one go about gaining that position?" Ewan asked, I pretended to not notice his hands that slowly caressed my thigh.
My brow furrowed as I thought deeply, "Well, there are two ways. One: you could challenge my father for the seat. Of course that's seen as barbaric now and days, and of course you would then have to fight the others."
I placed a hand over his roaming one, forcing his eyes to meet mine. "Your only other choice would be to go after the family business. You would have to buy out the stocks of the other shareholders, as long as you have half owner ship you can force them to vote."
He nodded, his eyes turning cloudy with thought.
"Is that your goal? Taking over the tribes here?" I asked truly curios about his intentions.
He didn't answer but instead lifted himself up, I modestly turned my eyes away. I hated the fact I could feel the stirrings of a blush coming up.
His powerful form left the bed, I let my eyes observe his body from under my eyelashes. He wasn't badly put together, but most Alphas were physically fit. Grabbing his pants off the chair, he pulled them on.
He turned around, sweeping a hand through his hair. "I will marry you, but I promise you it won't get in the way of your desires for your future."
Shrugging, I stood and walked over to the bathroom door. Pausing, I placed a hand on the door jam. "—That promise," I turned around, "I won't hold you to it, but—thanks for at least making it."
"Wait."
I turned my gaze back to him, my brows raised in question.
He frowned, seeming sheepish when he asked, "Your name...I couldn't quite remember...lass..."
He trailed off, I blinked and smiled, "It Laticia, but I prefer Argo from my friends."
He nodded, before he gave me a thankful smile.
I tapped the door once, before walking into the bathroom and shutting the door behind me. The smile on my face falling away.
I'd once trusted every promise someone made to me.
That at some point my family would love me, and that my father would look at me with pride. My grandmother would rock me back and forth, promising me that someday I would be special to someone—but let's admit it, even to my new fiancé I'm a chess piece.

Having finished the wash-up that I'd tried to bypass on my way to school. I quickly got dress in a large sweater and some leather leggings. Taming my hair, I pulled it into a ponytail. Spotting my cactus in the corner of the room, I grabbed the tin watering can only to realize it was empty.

Sighing, I figured it would be best to face those below, plus I'm sure I'd avoided facing them long enough.
Brushing my thumb across my name carved in the side, I tried to gather my courage.
Walking outside, I took a deep breath and headed downstairs.
There wasn't too much commotion since the most annoying one had probably been shoved out to go to school. I walked across the living room towards the kitchen.
"Your father wants to see you."
Stopping short from the door that lead to the kitchen, I nodded, changing my direction towards the study my father used.
"He won't treat you so preciously after he has his children."
Stopping again, I turned around my mother eyes flared with disdain. "Those Alphas always act so protective and loving at first, but then they show their true colors." The pure hatred in my mother's voice, when she talked about Alphas always caused my stomach to clench.
She sneered, "If you're thinking that you're escaping a horrible family for a better one, your living in a delusion of what it means to belong to the Alpha."
Having spoken her peace, she gave me a cold once over, before she left the room.
I stood still in the hallway, "you may be right." I whispered, before walking the rest of the way to my fathers study.
I might be leaving one hell for another, but even a new hell would be better, right?
**
My father sat behind his large desk, his posture arrogant as usual, his fingers steeple'ed, he leaned forward. Completely ignoring my existence as he spoke to Ewan.
"My wife tells me you both had a minor confrontation due to my daughter's stubbornness."
I felt Ewan glance in my direction briefly, before he met my father's gaze. "I wouldn't call it a disagreement, as Argo is now mine I felt her discipline and any major decision about her life is now mine to make and no one else's."
Father frowned, "She is still under our guardianship." He leaned back letting his hands rest on the arms of his chair. "Until you both are wed; any decision will be made by us."
Mentally sighing I decided that my silence had gone on long enough. "If I may speak?"
"This is a discussion between men Laticia, you should remain quiet." He didn't even bother to look at me.
"Even so, I am the one you both are speaking about and as the year is 2015 and not 1650 I am allowed to intrude on your manly discussion." Confidence was the only thing keeping my back straight, when my father growled, and maybe the fact that Ewan answered him with his own growl of annoyance helped a little as well.
Walking forward, I laid a hand on Ewans chair. "My fiancé is right, that since you've offered me to him as the price to pay for his loyalty he is now in control my fate."
"The laws—."
"The laws of the humans would say that I've reached my age of majority, in case you were wondering my birthday was last night, remember Roriks barbecue party is tomorrow?" I refused to flinch at the surprised look on his face, "I am eighteen, and after our wedding Ewan will be my new owner. Mother and you, will no longer have authority over me."

"P-preposterous, your grandmother made it clear we would be your guardians till after you were married!"
Biting my lip to keep a plethora of words inside my head, I turned around. Speaking over my shoulder, "Whether it's true or not, I'm sure you can try to find grandmothers will. Anyway, since the wedding isn't till the blue moon I assume I'll continue my duties."
Bending over I pressed my lips to Ewans cheek, lifting my lips I spoke my voice low. "Everything, I will help you get everything."
Straightening my back, I walked out of the room leaving Ewan to my father. Closing the door behind me I stared at my fingers, my claws were fully visible. Was this what our ancestors felt when they started the hunt.
Slowly my claws retracted coming to their average length. I wondered what my family would do if they knew I sought to give my husband everything they'd ever built.
I smirked as I made my way to the kitchen, they'd probably wish they had killed me when I was brought into this world.
Leaving all dark thoughts behind I went into the kitchen to make lunch.
**
Ewan wasn't sure if Argo knew her nails had sharpened but he could hear them crack into the wood of the chair he sat in. He felt his heart race, at her whispered words.
Once the door shut behind her, he returned his attention to Bellamy. The man seemed utterly shocked at his daughter's words. He wasn't sure if he should feel amusement or pity.
Deciding he didn't want to stay here all day in the room with the man, he spoke up. "To allow Argo to finish this year of school. My clan and I have decided to take up lodging at the housing area on your land. You spoke earlier that it will give us privacy."
Seeming to come out of his deep thoughts, Bellamy nodded, his eyes still shone with confusion. "Yes, it was originally where the branch family lived, until we combined with them once our numbers grew smaller. Is your entire tribe coming to live here?" Bellamy's question held a tinge of hope and worry.
Ewan had thought about it, but it seemed better just to keep the un-mated wolves with him. The possibility of them finding a match here was good, and it would help their numbers if their people grow.
"No, the women and the mated wolves will remain in Scotland but the un-mated will stay with me and Argo at the other plot."
Bellamy nodded, "Good, the wedding will be held on the blue-moon as Laticia told you, you may relax and enjoy your time before then." Bellamy then frowned, "Her name...around my wife it would be better to call her Laticia, her mother despises her middle name."
Ewan frowned,"...She has requested I call her Argo."
Bellamy sighed, nodded, "Then do so, as you are her husband."
Ewan nodded, he stood shaking Bellamy's hand. Once done he left the room, only to run into Rorik the heir to the Bellamy company.
Rorik was reported to be Argo's twin, Ewan could see the resemblance in the dark skin and face, but other than that Rorik held none of the spark his Argo had.
"So you're the guy my sister is being forced to marry, huh?" He leaned against the wall, the tilt of his chin arrogant. He narrowed his dark brown eyes on Ewan, "If father didn't feel so threatened by the idiot Warrik you'd never been accepted you purist."
Coldly staring down at the pup, Ewan smirked, "Well if he had a dependable heir, I don't believe I would have been brought in either."
"Enough." A cold voice spoke, both of them turned their attention to Corra who now wore what looked like a robe. "Lunch is being prepared, you should both go and partake."
Both of them, frowned but followed her directions towards the dining room.
Ewan stopped short when he saw the family seated but not Argo, smelling her scent he followed it. Only to find himself entering a kitchen it was good size, with chrome appliances.
Seeing maids taking direction from someone in the far back, he walked closer only to pause when he saw Argo.
"Mother hasn't been able to sleep well, give her jasmine tea instead it will help her relax." She spoke to the maids as she opened the oven, "And Chelsey is in need of forty cupcakes for school tomorrow for a club meeting, make sure you order from—."
Standing, she spotted him, placing the baking pan on the counter she took off her gloves. "I'll continue later... you may leave."
They all glanced at each other, before one of them noticed him standing there and soon the kitchen was empty.
He stepped forward his brow furrowed, "You are a servant."
Argo blinked, before she slowly looked around the kitchen. "I actually like to think of myself as a housekeeper, you know... holder of the keys."
"You jest, but they demean you," He placed hand on her shoulder, his eyes narrowed, "Have you no pride in being my wife?"
Annoyed, Argo stepped back crossing her arms, "For your information I actually enjoy this part of my day. Sure, I'm serving my own family, but it's something being in charge of a staff and plus it looks good on a resume later...later when I—."
She paused her lashes fluttered, "Anyway," She smiled, "I could be doing something worse."
Ewan frowned, before he reached forward pulling her into his arms. He lowered his head pressing his lips to his wifes-to-be forehead. She was stronger than he thought, and she was his. He tightened his arms around her, he wondered if she knew how she was affecting him.
He smirked, well after their wedding he would make it clear who she belonged to.
**
I wondered how long Ewan planned to hug me, I had thought about telling him to get off but as I smelled the woodland scent off of him I felt comfort and decided that maybe for few seconds I could stay here for little bit longer.
