《Eviternity》The Well-beloved Man

Eleanor was resting inside her big lavish bedroom. It was adorned with diamonds and rubies. Her room have two big windows where she can see the front yard of their residence. She is a well loved child since childhood even until now.
Being the only girl born after long decades, her family is very protective of her than her older brother who is now away for a business because of the royal order.
After the draining meeting earlier, the whole residence was turned upsidedown into chaos. She doesn't know what would be the plan of her father but she believes that it won't do much.
The Treaty has been established long before her birth. It won't be easy to revoke that. Even if it happens, it would mean that the relationship between them and the vampire clan would be a ticking bomb. Both parties would be walking in egg shells around each other.
A little friction could easily break the ties between the two. She cannot let that happen. More casualties would be sacrifice if it was to take place.
The easiest way out was for her to really get married to the Vampire Elder's son. That way, they can also form a strong ties with the vampires. Seems like the scenario of her tying the knot becomes inevitable.
She was about to doze off to sleep after boggling her mind when she hears consecutive knocks outside her bedroom door.
She lazily got up and answered the person knocking.
"Yes, who is it?" She asked.
"Miss, this is Ila. Duke Caelen is here and he was requesting an audience with you." The maid politely told her while staying outside the bedroom door.
Ila has been her personal maid since she was a kid. She was her second mother. She's at 50 now. She spent almost half of her life taking care of her. She was someone she can confides with next to her mother.

"Caelen?" She asked, confused. What was he doing here at this hour when he said the he would be busy with his appointments in the letter he sent her.
"Yes, Miss. He arrived in a hurry a few moments ago." Ila replied.
"I understand. Please tell him to wait a while and have refreshments first. I would be seeing him in a moment. I just have to get dress."
She stood up and went straight to her big walk-in closet full of dresses made by the finest tailors in town. Half of it has not even worn yet.
She chooses a simple blue dress reaching her ankle. It was embellish with few sequins. She tied her hair into a beautiful simple bun and put on a light make up.
Although it was just Caelen, he is still a duke of a well-known noble family. It was only right to be presentable. Since your family's honor would also be based on how you dress.
After dolling up, she decided to put on a flat shoe that compliments her dress and her rosy skin. After one final look in the mirror, she got out.
She went straight to their big drawing room in the right wing of their mansion and saw Caelen sitting anxiously while waiting for her. He have not even drink the refreshments prepared for him.
"Caelen." She called him to get his attention as she walk towards him.
After hearing his name being called by someone, he immediately look up and saw Eleanor dress in a simple blue dress. Despite the simplicity, it still gave justice to match up her beauty.
He hurriedly stood up and greeted her with a hug. They have not seen each other for weeks since he was so busy with appointments.

"El!" He gleefully called her. Seeing her face, his anxiety calm a little.
"What brings you here? I thought you are on a tight schedule." Eleanor asked him after breaking the hug and smiling at him.
"I heard rumors about you getting married to the Eldest son of the Vampire's Grand Elder. Is that true? Please tell me it isn't." He hold her hands and pleadingly look at her.
A small chuckle left from Eleanor's mouth. His look right now is indescribable.
"Okay before that, let's sit first. You wouldn't want a lady to stand for too long while talking." She said and guide him to the seat.
The servant brought out another batch of refreshments for the both of them and took away the one that was served earlier.
Eleanor took a sip from the glass full of freshly squeezed orange juice while Caelen waited for her to answer.
"Cael, no matter how much I wanted for it to not be true. I think it was a situation that is meant to happen." She started and gently put down the glass she was holding.
"You just said yes?" He can't help but asked with stupor.
"There is no official agreement yet. They are waiting for my family's reply until next full moon." She calmly said while Duke Caelan, on the other hand, was about to lose his mind.
He couldn't put his mind on how could this girl said that calmly? Your about to get married! No, that is not the worst, it was with a vampire! A vampire!
"El! How could you stay collected? Say no. Why would you even think of marrying him?" He can't help for his tone to raise a little.
"Caelen." Eleanor called him out with a hardened voice which made him shut up.
"You want me to say no and then what? Go to a war between the vampire clans? No matter how much we think about it, marriage is the safest way for everyone. It was just a little sacrifice I had to give for the peace of everybody. Besides, I can protect myself. You are my mentor in swordsmanship and bows. Remember?" She explained.
Caelen couldn't refute that. It was indeed the best option. But to think that Eleanor has to do this for the sake of tranquility and order. He just couldn't accept that. She is someone so precious to him. He wanted her to have a better life.
Looking at the distressed face of her friend, she tried to assure him.
"Don't worry, I would ask for your help if I needed it."
Caelen looked a little relieved hearing that.
"You promise, okay?" He asked again. "I promise." Eleanor answered back.
After catching up and lot of assurance, Eleanor manage to calm Caelen down and convince him to get back to his business that he suddenly left without advance permission.
