Dwyer - I'm sorry but Marina is quite right, you are a threat to security with that prosthetic leg, today's events have proved that

Colleen - If Geoff goes I go

Dwyer and Geoff look surprised, Marina looks delighted

Dwyer - Now come on Mrs Powell don't be silly

Geoff - Yes love, don't be silly about this, you're a fantastic governor

Colleen - No I mean it, if Geoff goes I go too

Dwyer - Now look perhaps we can discuss this sensibly?

Geoff - Perhaps Col and I will go to the union too, about unfair dismissal?

Colleen - Yes we could even get the officers out on strike on that one

Dwyer looks angry

Dwyer - Now look here! No one is even dismissing you, Powell, you're threatening to quit all on your own

Colleen - Only because you are unfairly dismissing Mr Carlson

Dwyer - Look I don't want to, Geoff has always been a fantastic officer. But this most serious of incidence cannot be ignored

Colleen - Well I believe Geoff when he says Marina set this up

Marina Accusations without proof!

Colleen - Geoff's word is enough proof to me. Geoff is not a liar

Marina - Oh and I am?

Colleen - Frankly yes

Marina looks outraged

Marina - Mr Dwyer, are you going to stand there and allow this unacceptable attack on my character?

Dwyer - I suggest we all just calm down here...now I have decided to give you the benefit of the doubt on this occasion Mr Carlson, no dismissal

Colleen and Geoff smile

Marina looks angry

Marina - But Sir!....

Dwyer - The decision has been made Miss Donovan

Marina folds her arms across her chest with annoyance

Dwyer - However I have a suggestion to make to you both

Colleen - Go on?

Dwyer - You both need a break, after what happened with the siege. I propose you both take a week's holiday away to any destination of your choice, all expenses paid for by the department...

Dwyer pauses a second with a chuckle

Dwyer - Within Australia only of course, not abroad. Not Florida or anywhere like that you understand!

Geoff - Who will look after this place while we're away?

Dwyer - Marina and Bruce will stand in as acting governor and acting deputy governor

Colleen - Oh I'm not sure that's such a good idea...

Marina - I think it's a fantastic idea, you both need a break from all the stress

Dwyer - Yes, I advise you to accept this offer, the department is very rarely this generous

Geoff - Anywhere we want you say?

Dwyer - Yes within Australia of course

Geoff - Oh of course...

Colleen - You're not thinking of accepting are you?

Geoff - Yes Col I am, I really do need a breakaway. I haven't recovered from Ferguson's siege yet

Colleen pauses a second and then reluctantly nods her head

Marina smirks

Dwyer - Now you just have to decide where you want to go

Geoff - Well I would have loved to go to Florida....but I guess I'll have to make do with Tasmania instead

Dwyer Tasmania it is! I'll have you booked on a flight tonight

Geoff - Yes well we won't be going anywhere unless my leg is found soon...

Richard and Janice are alone in his office, kissing

Janice - I think Florida is the place

Richard- Huh?

Janice - When I escape, Florida is the place to go

Richard - Oh yes I see, yes I agree

Janice - I wish I still had my little boy with me, he'd love to see Disneyland

Richard - Maybe we can have a kid of our own if you want?

Janice - You mean that?

Richard - Sure I do. I've always wanted a kid or two but Sandra didn't want any...not after she lost her daughter from her first marriage

Janice - Darling I'm so excited, we can have such a lovely future together

....Sandra is outside the door with her ear to the door listening

Toni arrives

Toni (surprised) - Mrs Clements, what are you doing?

Sandra waves her arm angrily and whispers

Sandra - Quiet! I'm listening to them aren't i

Toni (whispering) - Why?

Sandra (whispering) - So I can hear about their plans, so far I have discovered they are planning to go to Florida!

Toni laughs

Toni - Florida really?

Sandra - Yes really! Laugh all you like but I plan to put a stop to all this

Dwyer - I trust you are up to the job of the acting governor?

Marian - Yes of course Sir and thank you for this opportunity

Dwyer - Of course its only temporary until Powell and Carlson return

Marina - Yes I realize that, but it will be excellent practice for when I am eventually governor for real

Dwyer - Indeed

Marina - I hope you don't feel I'm stepping out of line by saying this, but I still think it was a mistake not to dismiss Carlson permanently

Dwyer - Yes well you may be right there, we'll see how things go for a while. Any more slip-ups like the one today and he will be out for good

Marina - Yes I'm pleased to hear it....now about Peterson

Dwyer - Yes that damn woman, always has been nothing but trouble!

Marina - I'm afraid she murdered the poor sister too

Dwyer looks horrified

Dwyer - WHAT!

Marina - Somehow I doubt she meant to, she wanted to sedate her and probably overdosed her by mistake

Dwyer - It's just one damn scandal after another!

Colleen and Geoff are alone in the staff room

Colleen - I'm really not sure about this

Geoff - I do need the break, I think we both do

Colleen - Yes but Marina left in charge?

Geoff - Only for one week, how much harm can she cause during that time?

Colleen - Plenty if she puts her mind to it I'm sure

They both laugh

The unknown female officer returns carrying the prosthetic leg

Officer - I believe this belongs to you Mr Carlson

Geoff and Colleen look relieved

Colleen - Oh thank god!

Geoff begins to screw the leg back in

Officer - In Marina Donovan's locker in the staff room, Peterson has a sick sense of humour. Why would she pick Donovan's locker to hide it in?

Colleen and Geoff exchange a knowing look

Sandra looks outraged

Bob sighs and looks at Toni

Toni leaves the room

Sandra - A fat lot of good that will do, they will only lie!

Bob - Then what else do you suggest I do?

Sandra - A transfer for Raymond to blackmoor

Bob - She has been behaving herself too well to justify such a transfer

Sandra (mocking tone) - Yeah cos having an affair with the social worker and planning an escape is really behaving isn't it!

Bob - watch your tone Clements!....whether what you say is true or not we have no proof of anything right now

Sandra - Transfer Richard then...

Bob - Mr Clements has proved an asset to this place, the women like him and he really seems to care about their problems. I have no grounds to transfer him

Sandra sighs with annoyance

Sandra - No wonder the pair of them are laughing at us all, clearly they think they can get away with it and they are right!

Colleen and Geoff are leaving Blackmoor as Marina and Dwyer stand with them

Marina - Don't worry about this place, I'll look after it. You just concentrate on enjoying your holiday you lucky pair!

Marina gives Geoff a hug

Marina -I love Tassie, I wish it was me going fair dinkum!

Marina hugs Colleen who leans in and whispers in her ear

Colleen- Don't get too comfortable in that chair, will you...I'll be back in a week. I'd advise you not to try anything while I'm away either

Colleen pulls away and they glare at each other

Marina - Don't forget to apply the sunblock will you Mrs Powell!

Colleen - No worries there. Just you make sure you don't forget the advice I gave you either

Marina - I won't love

Marina smiles and winks at Colleen

Geoff - Come on love lets go

They both get in the car

Dwyer - I'll ring you both later with the details for your flight and accommodation, you just go home and pack

Janice and Richard are with Bob, Sandra and Toni in the office

Bob - So I must ask you both, is there any truth in this accusation?

Janice - Certainly not Mr Moran! I have no idea where Mrs Clements got such a crazy idea from!

Bob - Richard, what do you have to say?

Richard - The same as Janice really, this accusation baffles me

Sandra - See? I knew they would lie through their teeth!

Richard - To tell you the truth Mr Moran, Sandra, and I are having problems in our marriage right now and I guess this is her attempt at revenge

Sandra - Oh really Richard, you are so pathetic!

Bob - Miss Williams brought it to my attention that Raymond has spent a lot of time with you Richard, why is that?

Richard - She needs to talk about her son who she misses. We certainly don't plan an escape to Florida together

Sandra - Lies, all lies! I suggest from now on all visits between the prisoner and Mr Clements should be supervised as a safety precaution

Richard - Now hang on a second, the prisoners are entitled to privacy with me

Sandra - When I first met you I was most impressed by your background and excited to have you as my deputy. I felt we'd make a superb team. But you have proved to be quite useless really

Bob looks angry

Bob loses his temper

Bruce is sitting on the opposite side of the desk

Marina swings back and forth in the chair

Marina - I could get used to this, it's where I belong

Bruce - Well little point getting too comfortable it's only for a week after all...

Marina - Yes but it's our chance to show the department what we can do. It's our chance to show them we are the best pair to run this place. By the time Powell and Carlson return there will be so many changes here they won't know how to handle it

Bruce - What sort of changes?

Marina - Harsh changes Brucie! Just the sort of changes this place needs

Bruce - What will stop Powell from changing them back again once she returns?

Marina - I will get Dwyer's approval for the changes to stay won't i. When Powell moans about it he will overrule her immediately....then furthermore we will continue to work on getting rid of Carlson. Powell was ready to resign today when Dwyer dismissed him. The damn fool changed his mind this time, but next time he won't and when he dismisses Carlson for good there is an excellent chance that Powell will resign again and they will both be gone for good!

Bruce - You're so smart Marina, you have it all worked out

Marina - Of course....now go and get Ferguson for me, please. It's time I had another little chat with her

Bruce leaves the office

Marina sits back in her chair and pours herself a whisky

Janice is walking along a corridor with Toni

Janice (angry) - Thanks a lot Tone!

Joan leaves with Bruce, looking slightly unnerved

Joan - Well good riddance if they are gone!

Joan - Yeah, I hated them both

Shirley - There you are, I wondered where you got to, didn't see you at dinner

Toni smiles

Toni -I've decided to keep it Vera

Vera looks surprised

Vera - Well that's very admirable. I'm not sure if I could keep a baby who was fathered by a man who had raped me

Toni - Well it's not the little baby's fault Vera. The baby is still half mine and I do want to be a mum so to hell with Nigel

Vera - So long as you're sure you can cope? Bringing up his child you will forever be reminded of him

Toni - I'm sure I'll cope. I learned that Nigel is not someone to be scared of really, he is a pathetic coward of a man

Vera - But what if he wants involvement in the child's life?

Toni - He won't get much of that from Woodridge...and when my child is old enough it will be up to them if they want to see him

Toni - I am now. I wasn't sure at first, it was all a shock. But now I know I want this child and I'm looking forward to it. There has been an empty space in my life for a long time and this baby will be the person to fill it

Vera - Well I'm pleased for you Tone. I would say let's go out for a drink after work but of course, you can't in your condition

Toni- No let's do it! I can have one glass of wine and then coke for the rest of the night
