Exterior shot of Wentworth in daytime
Bob is sat behind his desk as Abigail is let in to see him by Meg
Bob - Good morning Freestone
Abigail - Morning...
Bob - How was your time in solitary?
Abigail - Boring, but I managed, I kept my mind occupied
Bob - Did you think about your actions? What you did to Lizzie's tree was totally needless and destructive, I hope you realize that now?
Abigail speaks with more than a hint of sarcasm in her voice
Abigail - Yes, what I did was so wrong!
Bob - And perhaps when you see Bryant you will apologise to her for it?
Abigail - Yeah I suppose so, least I can do eh
Bob - Ok, Mrs. Morris will return you to H Block now
Abigail - It's been a pleasure as always Mr Moran!
Abigail leaves the office with Meg and they walk up the corridor
Meg is noticeably cold in mood and gives Abigail a filthy look as they walk along
Abigail - Why do I get the feeling you have something you want to say Mrs Morris?
Meg - I am not impressed about what you did to the tree Freestone. I cared a lot about Lizzie too and just like Bryant I also appreciated that lovely little tree that was planted in her memory. You destroying it is about one of the most senseless acts I have ever seen carried out in this prison. It's pretty obvious you couldn't care less about it either. Your time in solitary has not done a thing to make you see the errors of your ways. I just want you to know I am disgusted by you!
Abigail (sarcastic)- So I can cross you off my Christmas card list now too then?
Meg fires her another filthy look and they carry on in silence
Cassie emerges from her room looking worse for wear
Vera is making breakfast
Vera - Morning
Cassie mumbles something back that sounds vaguely like ''good morning'' and flops down into a chair
Vera - You were late in last night
Cassie - Aaron and I had a good night
Vera - A bit too much to drink though by the looks of it?
Cassie - Yes, I suppose we did go a bit mad
Vera - Would you like some breakfast?
Cassie groans
Cassie - No thank you, I couldn't eat a thing this morning
Vera gives her a stern look
Vera - I would still like you to go and look for another job today you know, don't think you can use a hangover as an excuse to sit around and do nothing all-day
Cassie - Oh mum, have a heart, please. I am dying here!
Vera - Yes, well perhaps that will teach you to be more sensible in the future!
Cassie - We all have to let our hair down at times, I had a lousy day yesterday
Vera - It's still a mystery to me where you got the money from for a night out
Cassie - I told you, Aaron paid for it all
Vera - Yes, well where did he get the money from? I know he doesn't work, so I do hope it wasn't from something dodgy!
Cassie - It wasn't mum honest. He did a job for his uncle and his uncle paid him for it, that's the truth
Vera looks dubious as she carries on making her breakfast
Vera - Sure you don't want any?
Cassie - Yes quite sure mum. If I tried to eat any I would bring it all back up again

Blackmoor
A builder drives through the main gates in his van and parks in a parking space
Marina is waiting as he steps out of the van
Builder - I've been sent to rebuild a wall?
Marina - Yes, we've been expecting you. Follow me inside
At Wentworth, the women are in the Recroom as Meg arrives with Abigail
The women look over at her with faces of anger and disgust
Sasha - So they let you back then?
Abigail - Looks like it doesn't it unless this is all a dream
Meg - Now ladies, we do not want any trouble
Sasha - Nor do we Mrs M, but she really should say sorry to Jude
Meg - Yes and she's going to...aren't you Freestone!
Abigail - Yeah...
Abigail walks across the room to where a hostile looking Judy is standing
Abigail - I'm sorry about what I did to the tree Jude, it was a bloody rotten thing to do and I wish I knew what on earth came over me at the time. I just wasn't thinking right that day. I hope you can forgive me
Judy has a cold expression on her face but glances over at Meg
Judy (cold) - Sure love, I forgive you
Abigail looks at Meg with a smile
Abigail - See Mrs M, we're all mates now! All's well that ends well!
Meg of course is not entirely convinced
Vern and Marina stand with the builder looking at the wall
Builder - Lucky no one was hurt
Vern - Yes quite
Builder - I will have a new wall up in no time Mr Schofield
Vern - That will be excellent. Maybe when you have finished you can have a look at some of the other walls in the prison I would like your opinion on whether they seem safe or not. You see a number of cracks have been appearing all over the prison
The builder shakes his head and points his watch in Vern's face
Builder - I can't stay I'm sorry. I have to do this job and move on to my next job
Vern - But it will only take a moment of your time, its important
Builder - No can do sorry
Vern is annoyed
Vern - Let me guess, Eileen gave you instructions not to right?
The builder shrugs
Builder - She said I am here to fix a wall and that's all. In and out fast. I don't want to go against her orders
Vern - I see...
Vern storms off looking pissed off
At Wentworth, the women are still in the Recroom
Meg has left now
Sasha - Ok Freestone, we're alone now. You can tell us how you really feel about what you did. None of us buy your sorry performance in front of Morris
Abigail grins
Abigail - Of course, i'm not sorry, it was just a stupid tree
Sasha - But it meant a lot to Jude
Abigail - Jude really needs to get a life if you ask me, she is completely neurotic, a sad case
Judy - Yeah well that's better than being a spiteful bitch like you
Abigail - Seeing you so upset over it gave me the greatest laugh I've had in years
Judy walks towards Abigail
Judy - Yeah, well maybe now I'll beat the crap out of you for it, see if you find that a laugh
Sasha pulls Judy away
Sasha - No Jude, you've got a parole hearing tomorrow remember! You do not want to mess that up, do you? You could be home with Lori and David for Christmas, think about it
Advertisement
Judy - Yeah you're right. She ain't worth messing up my parole over
Judy moves off
Abigail - That's right Bryant, be a good little girl for your parole hearing
Sasha leans into Abigail's face in a threatening manner
Sasha - But nothing's stopping me from giving you a belting is it, I don't have a parole hearing for at least three years so nothing much to lose really have i
Jonathan is with Vern in the office
Jonathan- Dr. Cowper has finished with the body now. He cut it up and did everything he wanted to do with it. So all that is left are the remains, the bones, and so on
Vern - Yes, which we will now have to dispose of
Jonathan - I take it you have a plan for that?
Vern looks thoughtful
Lori is waiting in the garden as Judy arrives to see her, supervised by Meg
Meg - You have ten minutes Judy
Judy - Yeah, thanks Mrs M
Judy rushes over with delight and hugs her daughter
Judy - Hi love
Lori - Hi mum
Judy - Oh it's good to see ya honey!....you didn't bring David though?
Lori - I'm sorry, I really don't like bringing him into this place
Judy - It's alright love, I understand. Anyway, with any luck, I will see you both tomorrow when I get my parole
Lori - I really hope you get it, mum, we'd love to have you with us for Christmas
Judy - I'd love to be there too, you know that love. Spending Christmas in this dump would be horrible
Lori - Do you think you have a good chance of getting it?
Judy - Yes Mr Moran seems hopeful. My record here has been pretty good. Yes I think I have a good chance of getting it
Lori looks delighted
Lori - Oh mum, I'm so excited! Having you with us for Christmas would be the best present
They hug again warmly
Judy - let's make this happen!
Vern, Marina, and Jonathan are armed with guns. They are also carrying two shovels
Stud and Geoff are marching into a field at the back of the prison carrying something big and heavy, wrapped in bin liners. Obviously the body
Vern - Ok here will do. lay it down
The two men lay the body down
Vern hands them the shovels
Vern - Now get digging and don't try anything just because we are outside the prison. The three of us have guns and will be watching you the entire time
Geoff - What the hell did you do to the poor sod anyway?
Vern loses his temper
Vern - THAT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, NOW GET DIGGING UNLESS YOU WANT TO JOIN HIM IN THE GROUND!
They start to dig
Vern - And I want the hole to be deep. Try and be quick about it, I would prefer not to be out here all-day
Meg is escorting Judy back from her visit
Meg - Looked like you and Lori had a nice happy chat today
Judy - Oh yes Mrs M, she knows about my parole hearing tomorrow
Meg - Oh I see, yes. Exciting news huh?
Judy - Yes, very exciting. I really want to be with my family for Christmas
Meg - Have you thought about what you will tell the parole board? How you present yourself makes all the difference
Judy - I will just tell them how sorry I am and that I should have got help from the police, not dealt with Stewart alone. I will tell them that I was doing well until he showed up and that I intend to do well again. I will tell them that now that he is dead and can't bother me anymore it's not likely I will ever have any more problems keeping on the straight and narrow
Meg - Yes, I think that might just about do it Judy
Judy looks sad
Judy - I still miss Sheila ya know, it's such a shame I had to lose her friendship over it
Meg - To be honest, it still surprises me that she was so harsh about it and not more understanding
Geoff and Stud are filing the grave in
Vern - Not a bad job men. It was a nice deep grave and you worked hard and quickly, so I am fairly satisfied
Marina - So time to go back inside? We've been out here a while and the other staff are bound to have noticed
Vern - Yes, we will go inside. But first, I want to make one thing clear to you two, are you listening because it will be important
Stud - Yes Sir, we're listening
Vern - What has gone on here must never be told to anyone else ever. If it does get out then you two will be in a lot of trouble, you will suffer more than I can say. It was unfortunate that the prisoner died, but no one else need know about it, it must remain a secret. Do you both understand?
Geoff - Yes we understand Sir and we will never breathe a word about it to anyone
GATESLAM
PART 2
Vern is in the staff room making a coffee as Officer Owens enters
Officer Owens - Oh there you are Mr Schofield, I was looking for you
Vern - Is there a problem?
Officer Owens - No, I just wanted to inform you that the builder finished the new wall and left a short while ago
Vern - Yes, well let's hope this time the wall stays up shall we
Officer Owens - I am still in shock that a wall actually fell down. Are you sure nothing like this will happen again?
Vern - Of course, I can't be sure, but Eileen doesn't want to take it seriously so what can I do but hope for the best?
Officer Owens - There are times when I don't feel safe working here. If it's not the prisoners making me feel unsafe its the building falling down
Vern looks unimpressed
Vern - Perhaps you should consider putting in for a transfer then Officer Owens. I have never felt you were really cut out for this place, in all honesty, a bit too weak and ineffectual for what we are looking for here
Officer Owens looks offended and slams her coffee mug down
Officer Owens - Really Mr Schofield, you may be governor but there is no need to be so rude to me!
Vern - Just speaking the truth dear, that's all
Officer Owens storms out of the room
Cassie and Aaron are together in the flat
Aaron - What do you want to do today?
Cassie - I know what I don't want to do and that's looking for work. Mum was on at me about it this morning but I just don't feel up for it today. Tomorrow maybe
Aaron - So what can we do instead?
Cassie - I dunno, shame we hardly have any money left
Aaron - Maybe we should pay Mrs Longfield another visit, get some more cash off her
Cassie looks horrified at the suggestion
Cassie - No Aaron, I strongly feel we should not go near her again
Aaron laughs
Aaron - Relax darling, I was having you on that's all, you know, pulling your leg
Cassie looks relieved
Cassie - Well that's alright then
Aaron - You still have not answered the question of what you would like to do today. You must have some idea
Cassie - Well there was one thing I thought about doing but I am not sure whether its a good idea or not
Aaron - Go on tell me what it is
Cassie bows her head and looks reluctant to say
Marina is alone with Jonathan in a corridor
Marina - I am glad I got you alone, I wanted a word about the prisoner Lucy
Jonathan - You'll have to remind me which one that is again
Marina - Lucy Ferguson remember, Joan Ferguson's niece?
Jonathan - Oh yes, of course, I remember her now
Marina - There's a problem, you see she has started saying some crazy stuff. She remembers being brainwashed and now she is denying killing her and saying I did it
Jonathan - Why does she think you did it?
Marina - Who knows? More to the point who cares? The girl is clearly sick. The point is I need you to put her under again and reprogramme her. I can't have her saying crazy lies about me
Jonathan smiles at Marina in a sinister way
Jonathan - The problem Marina is this, I have to wonder if there is any truth to her claim that you were the real killer. You see it struck me at the time as all rather odd, why you would go to such lengths to get her to confess to start with
Marina -Well it's just like I told you at the time John, its because I was a good friend of Joan's and I did not want Lucy to get away with it
Jonathan - Yes well I wasn't sure I bought that at the time and I am even less sure I buy it now. I have this nagging feeling that there is more to this than you're telling me
Marina -There really isn't, please trust me on that... Are you going to reprogram her for me?
Jonathan - Well I'd really love to help you out, you know that. But the question has to be what's in it for me?
Marina starts to turn a touch nasty
Marina - For a start, I won't open my mouth about what you and Dr. Cowper are up to here
Jonathan suddenly looks a lot less smug
Jonathan - You wouldn't dare say anything to anyone about that?
Marina - Wouldn't I? Wanna try me?
Jonathan - But you're in on it too
Marina - No I'm not. I'm merely an officer here who has no say in anything. Yourself, Dr Cowper, Eileen, and Vern are the ones who will be in trouble if the truth was exposed, I would be the one who is called a hero for exposing the corruption
Jonathan - You silly bitch, you wouldn't dare cross someone like Eileen Raymond
Marina - I have always hated her so really it would be a perfect opportunity for a touch of revenge...now tell me you will reprogramme Lucy for me, no strings attached, nothing in return. Full cooperation and no questions asked and my mouth stays shut?
Jonathan nods his head with a look of resignation on his face
Marina - If its any consolation it was a nice try John
Cassie still looks reluctant to speak
Aaron - Come on babe, whatever it is it can't be that bad surely
Cassie - Well it's just....... it's just that I wanted to visit my adoptive family. What with it being so near to Christmas, I wanted to see them. I may have my real mum now but they still brought me up for all my childhood, I can't forget that or stop caring about them
Aaron - Sounds normal to me, whats wrong with that?
Cassie - It's just that I am not sure they will want to see me...I am not sure how they will react to seeing me. Things have been strained between us over recent years. so for that reason, I am just not sure if it's a good idea
Aaron - But you want to go right?
Cassie - Yes, I can't get it out of my mind
Aaron - Then you have to do it. You have to otherwise it will bug you
Cassie- But if it goes badly?
Aaron - What's the worst that could happen? They might tell you to go away, that's the worst right?
Cassie nods her head
Aaron - But at least you would have tried and you will know where you stand
He tickles her playfully
Aaron - And if that does happen you will still have me won't ya
Cassie laughs and tries to push him away
Cassie - Stop it, you know how ticklish I am
Aaron - So have you decided what you want to do?
Cassie - Yes, I think you are right. I need to go and see them so that I will at least know that I tried
Marina leads Lucy into a room and Jonathan is waiting
As soon as Lucy sees him she realizes what is going on and flies into a panic
Lucy -NO!... YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME AGAIN...I WON'T LET YOU.....I WILL GET TO THE TRUTH AND CLEAR MY NAME
Lucy tries to leave as Marina restrains her
Lucy fights with her and they struggle violently
Marina - EASY NOW FERGUSON, CALM DOWN!
Lucy -LET ME OUT OF HERE YOU BITCH!....SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!
Marina.-SHUT UP YOU STUPID LITTLE COW!.....
Lucy hits Marina in the face and violently tries to break free
Marina hits her back
Marina - FOOLISH BITCH, NO ONE HITS ME!
Marina really struggles to control Lucy
Marina- COME AND HELP ME JOHN YOU PILLOCK, DON'T JUST STAND THERE
John rushes over and together they get Lucy under control
Lucy screams
Lucy - NO, DON'T DO IT PLEASE! IT'S NOT FAIR! I KNOW I DIDN'T KILL HER!
Marina puts a hand over her mouth to gag her
Marina - You'd better get her under fast now John, if she carries on like this for much longer she will alert someone to what's going on here
Lucy is still trying to fight, but Marina has her under control now
Lucy quietly sobs

The Othryrian Archives
"Humanity is on the cusp of their Great Expansion. It will be the first time in history that they’ve reached beyond their own solar system in an attempt to colonize the galaxy. Or, at least, so they thought. Peeling back the veil of time, The Empire of Sol has uncovered vestiges of a secret genetic program on the far flung planet of Hod. The advent of the Empire’s ancient enemy could upset the careful balance of power throughout in the Sol System. When Hod is invaded by the Empire, Andros Aeton is pressed into their service and his people are held hostage. Unbeknownst to him, factions within the Empire vie to use him to their own ends. He must claim his heritage if he has any hope of escaping the clutches of the forces that seek to use him." This is a work in progress. Major editing will be done after the book is complete, so there will be egregious typos and parts that make no sense whatsoever. Please feel free to point any and all of these things out. Chapters WILL get edited, and that editing might break earlier chapters. I will attempt to keep readers apprised of all changes. As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated. A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
