After the whole sea anemone fiasco, Jack and y/n were quick to run after their friends and soon found themselves in the Hall of Mirrors along with a hoard of other students with the exact same sea anemone on their heads.
"This is... the Hall of Mirrors that connects to all the dorm." Jack notes before y/n nudges him and points at the hoard of students being dragged somewhere.
"I totally thought I'd make it into the top 50 this time!" a Heartslabyul resident cries out,"Dammit, he tricked me! That cheating octopus bastard!" a Savanaclaw resident growls with anger as he held onto his anemone,"This totally ruins my school life!!" a Scarabia resident cries as they're pulled to a single mirror.
"What the!? There's a whole bunch of other guys besides those three idiots with anemones on their heads! There's some 2nd and 3rd years too." Jack notes as his eyes follows their dragged forms,"And they're all heading to the mirror for Octavinelle Dorm." he states.
"They're all also complaining about the same thing. Their test ranking and also about a 'cheating octopus bastard'." y/n adds and Jack hums,"Let's go take a look." he says and they both follow after the hoard of students to the Octavinelle mirror.
It was beautiful carved out with octopus tendrils framing around with the dorm's crest carved at the very top. The small steps are also decorated with colorful shells and corals as the small area is lit up by shell-shaped lamps giving off a faint purple hue.
The duo jumped through mirror and are met with the bottom of the sea. Before them stood the dorm and they also took note of how their bodies are still dry,"This is crazy! A dorm underwater!? And we're still dry!? Awesome!" y/n gushes with awe as she waves her hand in the air, her movements still normal despite being underwater.
"You're kidding me! Night Raven College is amazing!" Jack gushes as well with a big smile and wagging tail before noticing y/n's teasing smile directed at him. He coughs into his fist and grabs his tail,"We're taking a step into another dorm's territory. Don't get distracted and keep your guard up." he warns her as he walks ahead of her,"Whatever you say Mr. Serious." y/n playfully rolls her eyes as she follows after the tsundere wolf.
They followed the hoard of students into the dorm and down a glass tunnel hallway showcasing the underwater world for them. It wasn't long before they're gathered in a lounge.
"Oh man, that's a lot of people." y/n says with a nervous expression as she and Jack hid behind some furniture,[Hold. Up... Is that a bar!?] she thought with wide eyes,[Is that legal around here!?]
"100...No, looks closer to 200 people. But what is this place. Looks like a café..." Jack casts his gaze all over the place before it lands on a huge sign,"'Mostro Lounge'?" he reads before looking into the crowd,"Where'd Ace and the others go?" he questions,"I can't see them either." y/n utters before the lights went out with a snap of someone's fingers.
"Ey, who turned out the light?" she whispers as Jack pulls her closer to his side out of instinct. Not a second later, a spotlight shone on a familiar face standing tall on top of a small stage. It was none other than Azul Ashengrotto,"Well, well. You poor, unfortunate souls who couldn't make it into the top 50 for test scores. Welcome to Mostro Lounge." he greets everyone with a sickeningly sweet smile.

"Azul? Oh come on! Not another dorm leader!" y/n whispers with an exasperated expression,"I am sure you are more than well aware of who I am, but allow me to introduce myself again. I am Azul Ashengrotto." Azul take a humble half-bow,"I am the dorm head of Octavinelle, the boss of Mostro Lounge, and..." he looks up with a devious smirk,"The man who will be your master from this day on." he declares.
"... What now?" both Jack and y/n whisper with confusion,"You all challenged me and lost. In accordance with the contract, from now until you graduate, I will have you work yourselves to the bone as my servants." Azul explains as he shows off a golden contract to the crowd.
Y/n frowns at this as she remembers her friends' previous conversation about a 'contract',"What did you guys do this time?" she whispers with worry,"Hold up. This is straight up fraud!" Ace steps up with an accusing tone,"Jack, there they are!" y/n whispers as she points at her friends way up front of the crowd.
"I believe you are the first year, Ace Trappola. Calling it 'fraud' is rather rude. The notebook I gave you as my part of the contract should have had a perfect plan for taking the tests." Azul says with a neutral expression,"What...?" y/n whispers softly, her eyes trembling at the truth about her friends' test scores,[So... They didn't work hard at all, huh?] she thought sadly, a frown prominent on her lips.
"If you followed it to the letter you should have had no problem scoring over 90 points." Azul notes as he pushes his glasses up,"Yeah. You're right, I got a 92!" Ace confirms it as he jabs a thumb at his own chest,"That's wonderful! I'm overjoyed that it was of use to you."
Azul claps his hands with that same smile from before.
"But I didn't hear anything about you handing that notebook over to this many people!" Ace exclaims with arms spread out,"Ace is right on the money. There's no way we'd all make it into the top 50 if you gave out this many notebooks!" Deuce backs Ace up,"If this many people score over 90 points then scoring 85 doesn't change my position at all from when I was failing!" Grim says with frustration.
"Do you know the concept of 'duty of confidentiality'?" Azul crosses his arms with narrowed eyes,"'I want to easily get a high score', 'I don't want my grades to drop', 'I want to spend my time until the test having fun'..." he says with a mocking tone before giving off a devious smile.
"The idiots - no, everyone - who relied on me had their own reasons for doing so, but... Who made a contract for what reasons and under what conditions... Are all deeply connected to an individual's privacy that I can't simply go around revealing to others, no?" he explains before putting a hand on his chest with that sickingly sweet smile.
"I am a very honest man." he says before showing the contract again,"Look on page 127 of the contract and you'll see that clause about confidentiality. I am simply upholding that." he ends it there,"Th-then what's gonna happen to my fire magic that I have you as collateral for the notebook?" Grim asks with downcasted ears.
[Grim did what!?] y/n gasps with shock as she places a hand over her mouth,"Y-yeah. And my water magic?" a Pomefiore residents raises his hand,"Gimme back my unique magic!" a Scarabia resident demands,[They all traded in their magic for this!?] y/n thought as she and Jack share a look.

"Oh my, oh my. Everyone, have you already forgotten the terms of the contract? 'In return for the notebook to counter the final exams you shall entrust an ability you take pride in to me. If you are able to make it into the top 50 grades the I will will return your ability... And give you a notebook for every test until you graduate. However, if you are unable to place in the top 50... Then you will become my absolutely obedient servant until you graduate'." Azul reads off the contract with a haughty smirk.
"... You recall? Based on the contract you signed, your everything, to the hair on your head, belongs to me. That means I'm free to choose whether or not to return your abilities." he says and everyone becomes crestfallen at this,"How's that possible?" Ace sports an expression that reads dread.
"So, there is someone out there who can steal your abilities. That's terrifying." y/n admits before Jack jumps out their hiding place with a scowl,"I've just been listening... But I can't handle any of these guys!!!" his voice booms throughout the room, startling everyone around him.
"Ja-Jack!? Why're you here?" Deuce stammers as Jack and y/n made their way through the crowd towards them. Though the Idiot Trio flinch at the sight of y/n's sad and disappointed expression. That is the worse expression they ever could've received other than her angry expression. That one is better than the current one.
"Hmm? You are..." Azul studies the two new face and took note of the lack of anemones on them,"You don't have an anemone, do you?" he pushes up his glasses,"We are currently in the middle of a staff meeting. If it doesn't pertain to you could you please leave?" he asks, angering Jack even more.
"Grrr... Don't pertain? I wanted to study hard to beat a bunch of guys who used their own brains fair and square. Because of you it was all for nothing. I'm plenty involved!" he yells with a fierce look that made y/n sweatdrop,"Welp, they just flipped Jack's Justice Switch..." she murmurs to herself.
"Jack, did you guys come to help us!?" Grim asks with glimmering eyes, but y/n avoids eye contact with him completely,"Don't get the wrong idea. I can't stand any of the people in this room. Those who make greedy deals, those who rely on others, I don't want to be bros with any of them!" Jack glares at him and the rest.
"What did you come here for?" Ace asks nervously,"No... Jack's words have opened my eyes." Grim spoke up with a determined expression and crossed paws,"We just have to beat him! That means..." he then scurried up to Ace's head and peers over the entire crowd,"If we just go all out against Azul to steal the contracts and destroy them, they'll be invalid!" he claims.
"Ah! When you put it that way..." a Pomefiore resident pinches his chin between his fingers,"We might not have our strongest magic, but we have numbers on our side! Let's do this!" a Scarabia resident throws his fist in the air and some follows his lead.
Y/n deadpans at this as she hides her buries her face in her hands,"Boys will be boys... Complete and utterly hopeless..." she utters and Jack gives her a sympathetic expression along with a pat to the back.
"My, my... I don't really want to get rough with you." Azul sighs before snapping his fingers,"Jade, Floyd. Please play with them for a bit." he orders as the twins made their presence known by appearing on either side of the crowd, making their way to Azul's side.
"As you wish." Jade smiles a threatening smile as Floyd's form hunches over a bit to peer out into the crowd,"I can squeeze all of them? Ah ha, yay~" he cooes with an excited smile that showcases his rows of abnormally shark-like teeth.
Before y/n could even say her infamous 'Oh shiitake mushroom!' phrase, the entire crowd and her friends were already beaten to bruised pulps by the Octavinelle trio,"What... What just happened...?" she whispers with frightened eyes as Jack keeps an arm protectively in front of her while bearing his teeth at the twins and Azul.
"They're all weaklings. There's nothing to squeeze." Floyd pouts with disappointment before his eyes lands on y/n,"Or maybe there is~" he purrs, but Jack gives him a warning growl to which he raises his hands up in mocking surrender.
"It's like a powerless school of fry." Azul scoffs with a shake of his head,"Just how many different kinds of magic can Azul use!? I call foul play." Ace accuses as Azul just gives them all a smug smile,"The golden contracts Azul has, are they repelling all of your attacks?" Jack questions as everyone slowly and shakingly got back up.
"Crap, I really see how much I relied on the spells I excel at out of habit..." Deuce groans with shame,"If he can't breathe fire, Grim's just a raccoon." Ace points out,"Ffnaa... I'm no raccoon... Guh..." Grim moans with pain as he lies flat on his face, starfish style.
Azul then shows off his golden contracts once more,"You all signed a golden contract. As long as it's valid it cannot be annulled by any number of people." he then begins to roll it back up,"Whatever spell you use, it can't so much as scratch the contract. Fufufu..." he chuckles as he pushes his glasses back up,"As long as you have that anemone sprouting from your head you have no choice but to obey my orders." he says with a smug smile.
"First of all, I'd like to have you clean the lounge. Next will be food prep." he orders before sporting a stern expression when no one makes it a point to move,"Well then, get up and get to work!" he claps his hands and everyone groan with distaste.
"Seriously..." Ace whines, already exhausted,"Jade, Floyd. I'll leave giving instructions to the new help to you." Azul glances over at the twins,"Alright." they say simultaneously as Azul made his way over to Jack and y/n.
"Then, you were Jack Howl from Savanaclaw and the female Prefect from Ramshackle dorm... Correct?" he asks as his eyes linger on the girl's form before giving her a polite smile as he takes one of her hands in both of his.
"You're welcome to make a deal. I hope to see you back here as a guest." he then leans in closer, making y/n turn the slightest of pink,"You're welcome anytime." he says with a sultry tone before giving the back of her hand a brief peck and then walking away.
Jack immediately brings y/n to his side with a fierce growl while his glaring eyes follow Azul's being before he disappeared around a corner,"Grrr... Hey, y/n. Let's get outta here and come up with a plan." he suggests and y/n bites the tip of her thumb nail lightly.
"What about the others?" she asks and Jack looks down at her,"You saw the fight earlier. We won't get anywhere empty handed." he tells her and y/n nods softly,"You're right. Let's go." she says and they both quickly leave the dorm.
Jack decided to discuss this entire situation at Ramshackle dorm, where he was pacing back and forth,"Those guys with the anemone on the their heads, in order to get a good test score they were tricked into for Ina contract with Azul..." he utters as he taps his chin.
"I don't think I got anything wrong." he adds as he stops pacing around,"The condition was that they had to get into the top 50 grades, but because there were so many students who made contracts, most of them couldn't make the cut. That's what Azul was aiming for from the start." he claims and y/n nods.
"That's seriously viscious..." she utters as she fidgers with her fingers a bit,"There's no meaning in using someone else's power to get good grades. Wasting the chance to show off their true power to everyone is what really makes them stupid." Jack rambles with a disappointed tone.
"Everyone at this school is self-obsessed like Mr. Howl, it's so troublesome..." the familiar voice of Crowley spoke up from behind the two,"If they took things seriously we could avoid hardship for everyone, including myself." he sighs.
"Waaah!" the two students scream in fright as Jack unconsciously stood in front of y/n protectively,"Headmaster! You scared me!" he says,"And me!" y/n pouts angrily, but Crowley brushes off their fright,"Huuuh... I couldn't put a stop to Mr. Ashengrotto's 'business' again this year." he sighs.
"What do you mean by 'business'? Sir, do you know something?" y/n asks as Jack sits beside her now,"Mr. Azul Ashengrotto. He is a second year that works as the dorm head for Octavinelle. He is an extremely extraordinary student to be the dorm head as a second year like Mr. Rosehearts, but..." Crowley wears a very troubled expression.
"There are a few, no a great number of problems." he reveals,"Problem, like the scam incident? If that's the case then as the headmaster can't you just order him to stop?" Jack asks with a raised brow while y/n deadpans,[You're asking the literal man child that question?] she thought.
"The thing is... Precisely because I am a teacher, I can't prohibit his activities." Crowley says as he avoids eye contact with the two,"What do you mean?" Jack narrows his eyes,"The test notebook that Mr. Ashengrotto distributed throughout the school... Wasn't something he made by stealing test answers, cheating or anything like that."
"He thoroughly read through the last 100 years of test answers from Night Raven College and refined a 'test key' with his own abilities." Crowley explains as y/n's eyes almost bulges out of her skull,"The last 100 years of test answers!? That's fin flipping amazing!" she admits with starry eyes.
"Using his own power to make something like that, he's pretty good." Jack hums,"Hm? Wait. So you're saying that because it's not cheating that's what makes it troublesome... right?" he asks with a hand on his chin.
"Mr. Howl, that's a very good conclusion. From the position of a teacher, we can't prevent one student from creating a test notebook like that from their legitimate efforts. And the fact that he 'kindly' helped others with their studies." Crowley tells the with crossed arms.
"If you did, you'd pretty much be telling everyone, 'don't study' or 'don't work with your friends'." Jack ruffles his hair a bit,"Grr... That is troublesome." he says with utter annoyance,"That is correct." Crowley nods.
"By the way, Headmaster, didn't you say something like 'I couldn't stop his 'business' again this year'? Did he actually do this last year, too?" Jack asks,"I'm curious about that as well." y/n says with a serious tone.
"Yes. His notebook didn't gain as much fame and notoriety last year, so it didn't become a huge incident like this year, but..." Crowley wears a troubled expression,"This year it seems the rumor 'if you want to get good grades on your exams then come to Mostro Lounge' was spread all around campus." he points out.
"But what would happen if you breach contract that was kept from spreading due to the confidentiality agreement?" Jack asks as he gets up and crosses his arms,"It seems that way. As a result, Mr. Ashengrotto was able to continue making deals with students this year. And in the end..." Crowley shakes his head with a sigh.
"The average test score for all grades in all subjects is over 90. It's better than the average for all subjects being failure! However..." he trails off as he taps his chin with a sharp nail,'It means most ended up cheating." y/n finishes for him as she also gets up.
"Have the guys that got their abilities taken last year just been going about without getting them back?" Jack asks with a flabbergasted expression,"For that... In order for the students from last year to get their abilities back, he gave the condition that I allow him to open Mostro Lounge for business on campus." Crowley reveals to them,"What!?" y/n and Jack shout with disbelief.
Crowley's Flashback...
Crowley and Azul are seen in the older man's office, who was currently sitting in a chair with Azul standing in front of him,"Night Raven College is a prestigious school known for turning out exceptional wizards in great numbers."
"It must cause you great pain, Headmaster, to see it become a place for students that can only use meager magic. For that, I have an idea." Azul smirks in a haughty manner,"It's not something disadvantageous from you." he tempts.
End of Flashback...
"... Is how he put it." Crowley finishes his story,"Wh-what a bastard... To go and threaten the headmaster into a deal like that." Jack clenches his fist with gritted teeth,"I think I see why Leona doesn't wanna go near him." he growls,"To go so far..." y/n mumbles with quivering eyes.
"He went as far as calling it a 'Win-Win' since the school gets 10% of the money made..." Crowley reveals and Jack and y/n sweatdrop,"Tch, you've got yourself a pretty good deal." Jack frowns with crossed arms,"Sleazy bird..." y/n whispers under her breath
