Alex and Lauren lead the guests to the armoury.
"After you," Lauren said, "we'll watch your back."
Lilly, Tiffany, Sean and Mark stepped into the room, and the door slammed shut.
"Guys!" Tiffany banged on the door. The guests on the other side tried to open the door, but failed.
"Guys, we can't open the door. You're probably on your own for this one," Willow said, "we might be able to help out a bit, but not too much."
"Ok, if we solve this then we'll get out," Sean said.
"We don't have any clues to solve," Mark pointed out.
"Found a clue!" Tiffany held up a note.
"What does it say?" Mark asked.
As requested, the sword is hidden away, however, I have left clues to find it. The next clue is attached to the first place sword.
"What does it mean by 'first place sword'?" Sean asked.
"Um, when you come in first place, you win a gold medal. Maybe we could start there," Lilly said. The group stared looking around for a golden sword.
———
Meanwhile, the other group were standing outside, anxiously waiting for the guests to find the sword and escape the room.
"Wait, why are they even looking for the sword? Why do we need it?" Oli asked after a while.
"It'll defeat this knight," Lauren had a realisation, "unless that's what she wants us to think."
"Lauren, Alex, do you know anything else about this knight?" Joey asked.
"Not really. We don't know a lot about this place, we've not been here too long," Lauren said.
"How long?" Oli asked.
"About two days before you showed up. They didn't know exactly when to expect you, so they sent us earlier than needed," Alex explained, "we just had enough time to learn where everything was."

"Who's they?" Joey asked. Suddenly, the knight charged in and grabbed Joey.
"Guys! Help me! Help!" Joey shouted as he struggled. But it was too late when the guests registered what had happened. Joey was gone.
———
"I got it!" Mark pulled a golden sword out from under a pile of sheaths, "there's a note attached to it."
Find the sword of the dragon slayer, left here many years ago.
"I'm assuming there will be a dragon on that," Lilly said.
"But will it be engraved or will it be an ornament on the handle," Tiffany pointed out.
"Just look for a sword with a dragon on it," Mark said. Once again, the guests began looking for a dragon slayer's sword.
"Got it!" Tiffany shouted. She pulled out a beautiful blue sword with an intricate dragon carving on the blade. She read the note.
Place this blade in the pedestal and the sword you seek will be revealed.
Tiffany put the sword into the pedestal and a secret door in the wall opened up.
"The sword!" Mark shouted. He ran into the room, grabbed the sword and ran back out. The other door opened and they left the room triumphant.
———
Just as Sean, Lilly, Mark and Tiffany left the room, the knight returned and grabbed Thomas.
"Guys! Help!" he cried as the knight dragged him away.
"In other news, we found the sword," Mark said after a moment of silence.
"Great!" Willow said.
"So, now we go and get our friends back," Dan said.
"I'll lead the way," Mark held the sword aloft as he lead the group outside.
"This is actually quite heavy, so I'm gonna put it down," Mark said after making it out of the corridor.

The group returned to the battle arena and this time, walked in. They saw their friends, locked in a fairly small room with a few skeletons. As they entered, the knight slammed the door shut, but the guests didn't notice. As they ran towards their friends, the knight stepped in front of them.
"I'll take my sword, thank you," she said. She grabbed the sword from Mark and put it in her sheath, not caring that was a bit too big so didn't quite fit.
"You know the rules, but they are a little different this time. Vote for the guest you want to save from the challenge, and come back once you've made your choice, and come back with a reason. It is chivalrous to do so," the knight said. The group took the hint and left to go and vote.

Joshua, through no fault of his own, stumbles into the grove, and is immediately killed for trespassing. Three Hundred Years After The End Of The World
Three hundred years after the end of the world as humanity knew it, the gears of an old plan slowly begin to move again, as a group of self-imposed reincarnators, along with their equally unlikely companions, gather once again to set things right... but does the world they plan to restore need, or even want, their help? Follow the misadventures of an eclectic bunch of genius misfits as they attempt to assemble and fix the world they accidentally devastated in the past. ~~~ Author's note: This is actually the first volume of a novel I wrote nearly a decade ago for the VNDB discussion boards, taking inspiration from the random off-topic ramblings that characterized the golden age of the community. After sevear years and countless rewrites, it is pretty much unrecognizable, but while it is not fit for professional publishing (due to the fact that several fragments and older versions are still out there on various forums and blogs), I decided it is a waste to just let it sit idly on my hard drive forever. As such, I decided to share it somewhere where people could maybe appreciate it, so here it is.

Grim Beginnings
For most, ghosts and monsters were fantasy. For Tessa Byrne-Reyes, they were a constant in her daily life as a reaper. The legendary gods and creatures of mythology were, to her, historical figures. From a young age, she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, possessing what she saw as a curse but what her family considered a gift. It was her birthright, to use her abilities to guide the deceased to the afterlife of an eternity in peace or in torment. Her classmates viewed her as "the fainting girl" who would pass out in the middle of a lesson with inexplicable injuries. She experienced each death in the town of Belmont Falls, from the mundane to the gruesome. A gunshot wound in the gut, broken ribs, her heart ceasing to beat for several minutes. No one understood what caused these incidents but over the years, she gained a reputation for being abnormal. While Tessa is the freak of Belmont Falls, Fin Belmont, the charming rebel and son of the richest man in town, is her polar opposite. Knowing each other for years but never saying more than a dozen words between them, one night changes everything, thrusting them into each other's unfamiliar and daunting worlds. Together, with the help of her best friend/his ex-girlfriend Elena, they begin to unravel secrets about their town and their pasts, learning that some secrets are better left buried and grudges can be held for centuries.
