《》Chapter Seven

Kakashi was a lot more open than I had believed he would be considering he had once told Naruto and I that he had been, if not exactly like Sasuke, than even worse than him when he had been our age up until he had lost his own teammates.
But maybe it was for the same reason as Sasuke who had lost his whole Clan outside of his brother. Because I had only ever heard of Sakumo Hatake in the history books.
Either way Kakashi was also pretty possessive of our friendship and of me considering, from what I noticed, I was his only friend. That meant he didn't like sharing my time with anyone.
He seemed to barely tolerate Rin, who was my twin sister.
"You promise that next year I can join?" asked Rin as I was putting on my shinobi style sandals and checked over my school bag and shinobi pouch.
"That's up to Okaasan," I answered with a small grimace as I stood up causing Ōkami and Tenshi to scramble up to their own feet as well. "I also thought you wanted to wait a bit so you could get better in chakra control."
I tried. Tried to be the best brother and twin for Rin that I could be even as my heart cried out for my first twin, my brother, Kiba. Sometimes I did better than others, but never once did I allow myself to wallow in grief as I had for the first three years of my life.
Rin had seemed to notice the difference as well as she became a bit clingier and would watch me with shinny eyes as I helped her learn the correct Academy kata's along with learning how to use her chakra reserves and the first chakra control exercise.

She would make an amazing medic-nin, which is something I knew she was interested in.
"I heard her talking," whispered Rin voice going almost too soft for me to hear causing me to lean toward her. "She's really angry with the Alpha."
"I know," I whispered back before offering her my hand. "Okaasan said she wouldn't be able to make it to my first day, so do you want to come with?"
In truth, I would rather have Rin there then our mother. Things hadn't been the same since I had returned with my canine partners. Something even Rin had begun to notice.
"Of course," agreed Rin with a bright smile as she clasped my hand, "and no matter what happens just know that I love you very much and that I'm proud of you Asahi."
"Shouldn't I be saying that as the eldest?" I teased before laughing as she began to pout as I ruffled her hair. "But yeah, no matter what, I love you to Rin and I will always be proud to call you my sister and family."
Kakashi was already there with Sakumo-sensei and even to my surprise Minato. They all sent me a wave as Rin and I moved to join them near to the side as other children and their parents arrived for the Academy Speech. It was given by the Hokage during times of peace or when war was not declared.
That would change during war times.
"There you are," said Kakashi easily moving forward to take my free hand into his without sparing my blushing sister a glance. "I thought you had almost changed your mind about joining the Academy with me."
"Never," I reassured with a light laugh even as I tried to not deadpan at the small crush Rin had gained on Kakashi thanks to him being my only friend and the one I trained with. "Just had to make sure I had everything and remembered to eat breakfast."

Ōkami was settled atop my head while Tenshi had decided to rest in the fur lined hood that I had been gifted from the Alpha for getting into the Academy.
It looked a lot like the one I had owned in my first life, being more of a hooded vest since it had no sleeves, and the fur was a dark black that almost matched Ōkami's fur. It was done in a dark grey material that had been treated to be harder to tear or stain along with having the Inuzuka Clan symbol upon the back in a deep red almost black.
With it I was wearing long ANBU style pants that were taped at the ankles and black shinobi sandals and black finger-less gloves to finish off my look. Something simple yet comfortable enough to be easy to move in.
"Well we're glad you made it in time," added Minato as he reached out to pat my shoulder as Ōkami gave him a look. "It is nice seeing you again Rin-chan."
"You as well Namikaze-san," said Rin blush covering her cheeks as she tightened her hand in mine while giving a bright smile. "I wouldn't miss this for the world."
"We're gathered here today to welcome the next group of potential shinobi and kunoichi of Konoha," began the Third Hokage as everyone fell silent. "I know a lot of you've begun to hear rumors about war being on our doorstep, and you would be correct. So, while I would love to give a worthy speech, I shall only say that I know each of you will work hard and show yourselves as worthy shinobi and kunoichi of Konoha."
"Class 1-A will be," began a Chunin Nara who held up a scroll with names written upon it while not once looking up. "Akimichi Choza, Yamanaka Inoichi, Nara Shikaku, Hatake Kakashi, Sarutobi Asuma, Nohara Asahi, Uchiha Obito, and Uchiha Shisui."
It was almost too confusing to have those who should have been adults be my age here along with those who shouldn't even be born yet or be that of a babe being my age. This proof was laying heavy upon me in that this was some type of parallel world to the one I had been from leaving me to wonder if I could even change anything.
"Asahi," called out Inoichi as he ambled over toward us with Shikaku and Choza right behind him. "It's good to see you again!"
"Aren't you popular?" teased Minato while I just gave a strained smile as Kakashi spun around to scold Inoichi for being too friendly and Rin looked on confused.
"I remember you," spluttered Obito face turning a burning red as all of our eyes landed upon him. "You're the girl who gave me the flower crown."
"Class 1-A," shouted the Chunin making me give Rin a tight hug and Sakumo-sensei and Minato a wave before dragging Kakashi toward our instructor. "Next time you're called you come directly to me."
