"What would you like to play, love?" Tooru handed you his phone with his screen already opened on a song application for you to queue up. "Anything is fine with me."
You took it off his hands and gawked at the device as if it was a grail. You can feel the power flowing through you by holding his possession and smirked. "Are you sure you should be calling me 'love' on the first date?"
The engine of Tooru's Scion FRS rumbled underneath your feet once he inserted the key into the ignition. A small chuckle seeped through him before he backed out of the driveway with his hand behind your seat.
"I honestly think I would call you 'love' if this is our first time meeting," he teased as a hindering smile ghosted on his lips. "Well, only because I believe in love at first sight."
When you looked at his direction, his face remained indifferent when spewing such an ideal that people brood over when they were young. You wanted to laugh but just gave an amused breath only to not discourage him.
"You believe in that?"
"Don't you?" he asked with eyes glued on the road and his hand gripped on the steering wheel while the other fiddled on the gearstick.
You hummed while your eyes scanned through a list of songs on Tooru's playlist, seeking a song to play during the drive. "I think, deep down, we all want to believe in something to justify things."
"How about this?" Tooru advanced as an idea, or perhaps a fact, popped in his head. "I thought it was love at first sight when I met you. Do you feel the same?"
Then your interest wasn't on his phone anymore, but on him. His brown eyes were locked ahead of the road until he noticed your gaze falling on him. At a stop light, he briskly peered back at you to look at your reaction and delight poured on him when he can sense your face warming at his words.
Referring back at the first moment you had with him, you can remember how attractive he looked when he desperately searched for Tetsu. Despite of it being a worrisome situation, you were instantly starstruck by him hugging his son with a relieved face, talking to him like he was the only thing he had left in this world, and giving you his gratitude with a thankful smile.
He's right. It didn't take long for you to fall so hard for the man. That day, you wanted to know him - to talk to him more. Everything seemed to fall in its place without you intently choosing to be involved with him and his little boy. And you remembered that your God is simply on your side when you wished to see Tooru again no matter how serious or comical you were.
Holy fuck...
"I thought so, too." Tooru no longer needed an answer from you as your silence is more than enough evidence for him to know that it is mutual, and your mouth gaped at his bold reply. He didn't say anything else as he went back to driving, roaring the engine once again by pressing the gas pedal to zoom pass the street light.
Embarrassed, you went back to his phone to finally select a song to fill in the empty conversation by merely tapping on the last song he played in his car. The soft plucking of a guitar emitted through the speakers of his car and Tooru approved of your random choice with his fingers drumming at the beat over the leathered wheel.

I remember what you wore on our first day
You came into my life and I thought,
"Hey, you know this could be something."
~
However, you weren't familiar of the song but the lyrics spoke of love, an anxious yet assured love. The hint of violins and drums gave a slow and uplifting melody to make an individual such as yourself melt at the poetic words, compelled to imagine Tooru listening to it with thoughts of you swimming in his mind. The lyrics are much truer to his feelings for you the more he repeats the song over and over.
He began to hum along the tune as his hand that was on the gearstick moved to your legs in search for your hand. "So maybe it's true... that I can't live without you."
Then your eyes glanced sideways at him and his lips were moving, tracing the words of the singer's voice in a quiet whisper. Tooru sang in a lovestruck state with the corners of his mouth raising slightly. "And maybe two... is better than one."
~
But there's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
And you've already got me coming undone
~
His voice was soft yet low, giving the singer the credibility to sing over his mediocre tone but it was loud enough for you to hear him serenade. You can just tell that he was being shy to sing louder and felt cheesy to listen to a heartwarming song before this date. After the first chorus, Tooru brought your hand to his lips to give it a long kiss, pressing his coated and moisturized lips at the back of your hand when the soft music continued to play. You just had to lean yourself to cuddle up against his arm over the middle console.
The dark highway grew pitched black once you found yourself at a beach side of town. The black waves crashed when you peeked outside the window to watch the ocean ripple onto the beige sand as a few specs of people, mainly couples, either sitting or walking down the path.
The smell of salt water fanned through the air conditioner in Tooru's Scion as he informed you happily once he exited the freeway. "We're almost there."
"And where is 'there'?" you asked playfully, hoping he will spill the details of his plans.
But he chuckled, already seeing through your obvious tone, "You'll see, love."
After a few minutes on the street, he pulled into a drive way that led to a plaza nearby the beach. The lights brightened the area as you found a row of restaurants lined up along with fancy cars driving front and back of Tooru's. Your peasant self was amazed at the luxurious atmosphere as people walked down the street in their nightwear.
"We're here," said the brunette when he pulled in front of a specific restaurant with stairs covered in a red carpet. Multiple people stood outside, waiting for their table to be called or their car to pull up. You stayed in your seat when Tooru parked right in front, being greeted by a valet to take his car keys and slip a yellow piece of paper on the windshield.
Tooru hurried to your side to beat the other valet from opening your door by jogging in a haste and his hand curled at the car handle to swing it open. You carefully stepped out with your clutch and both of you and Tooru's phones in your hand as the other was held in his. In that moment, you felt like you walked into a movie scene by your grand entrance.

Eyes were making way to you and Tooru's presence. Some may have recognized who he is while some only thought how attractive you and he looked, but no one would dare to step forward since you both have such strong appearances.
The carpet cushioned the bottom of your block heels when Tooru guided you to the front of the restaurant with a hand at your lower back and opened the glass door for you to strut in. A woman is at the podium, greeting the both of you with an ordinary smile.
"Oikawa, reservation for two," announced Tooru and you swore you thought the hostess was immediately captured by his effortless magic. You didn't mind it though. In fact, you were quite prideful. Who wouldn't stare at him and his beauty?
No less than a minute, she motioned the two of you to follow and the interior of the restaurant wasn't much to show. Instead, the main venue was outside where a small orchestra played on the side of the garden, twinkle lights hung above the heads of guests while they dined on their white clothed table. Everything looked so enchanting and romantic the way it was decorated.
Being led to a particular secluded spot, your table was sprinkled in pink rose petals across the surface as well as a dimly lit candle in the middle and a vase of three to four stems of french lavender in a skinny glass vase. Tooru hurried to the seat you had chosen which is the one against cherry blossom tree ornamented of the same white twinkle lights wrapped around the whole bark, and pulled out the chair for you.
The hostess watched in amusement while you two settled in your seats and then handed each one of you a vanilla-crepe card stock paper that is printed in cursive writing. Soon, she announced that the waiter will arrive shortly after her disappearance.
Once again, it was just the two of you and the heartwarming sounds of harp and violin playing in the background.
"Tooru, this is-"
"Don't worry about it," he stopped you from finishing and gave a promising smile. "I got everything covered."
You simply laughed at his worried expression. "What I mean to say is; this place is beautiful."
"Oh," he joined in the laugh. "I knew that."
He stripped himself from his black blazer off his shoulders but peered at you curiously before laying it over his chair. "Are you cold? Do you need my blazer over you?"
"I'm fine, thank you," you told him gently. Besides, you wanted to show off your shoulders to him a bit. It's been a while since you've worn a dress due to the amount of work you had and the lack of sun lately. The spaghetti strap simply done the trick in showing some skin.
He nodded. Before he could make adjustments in his seat, a figure approached with a French accent and a hint of Japanese in the mixture, greeting you two with a scripted welcome and introduced the specials for tonight. "Is there something you want to drink?"
Tooru looked over at you to see if you approve for a fancy alcoholic beverage and you thought 'why not' with a shrug.
"I'll have what you're having," you permitted, trusting him in his alcohol palette.
He then gazed up at the tall server, "Groth cabernet, please. 2016 napa valley if you have it, and make that two glasses."
It already sounded fancy the way he worded it and the waiter nodded to retrieve the bottle. When he vanished, Tooru didn't hesitate to retrieve your hands over the table and cherished them with a brush of his thumbs. He sat at the edge of his seat to lean closer to you and you did the same to meet his focused eyes on you - all of his attention was on nothing but you. It didn't matter to him how beautiful the night is because you exist.
If anybody were to see, they would think you two are mindless idiots for each other.
"This is just... wow. I can't believe I'm here with you right now," you said so thoughtfully, swiveling your head to watch the band play by the oceanside so you can show your appreciation in their skills.
It was only for a quick second and you felt your phone shaking in your hand purse. You didn't mean to draw your phone out during dinner but it was an automatic behavior. But the notification surprised you even more when you saw that it was from the hot setter.
Mentioned you in their story.
And you opened the alert to view the man's social media to watch his latest update. It was Tooru's perspective when his camera pointed at your direction while you watched the band play earlier. Your elbow was propped on the table to lean your cheek on your balled fist as your other hand is gripped in his over the table. The twinkle lights behind you made you appear dream-like, giving you a warm silhouette and an outline halo.
Thank goodness he caught your good side, too.
But most of all, he had a text at corner which is quite noticeable for any blind person to read.
"Wifey Material," it read.
"Do you want to do me?" his question caught you off guard and your eyes stilled at him.
"I mean, taking a picture of me," he corrected quickly when he realized his play-on words and chuckled. You just knew he was begging you to show him off a little, wanting to be announced yours already.
So you gave him that satisfaction by aiming your phone camera at him and he purposely posed in a way for your viewers to be jealous of you. Mindlessly tapping the button, you captured him kissing at the back of your fingers with puckered lips and another one smiling at the camera in the same posture.
Mimicking his post, you added text at the bottom and it was no question what you wrote.
"Daddy Material."
While gazing at the photos you took, your eyes caught something unfamiliar of it after posting and it almost made you lose your breath at the same time.
He was kissing at your ring finger.
"I thought you were going to put something else," he whined, cutting you from your thoughts and forcing your eyes back to him. Disappointment dripped from Tooru's lips as he was the first to look at your public post and pouted.
Your brow arched. "Like what?"
"That I'm husband material," he answered quickly and you thought you couldn't breath any more at this point. He was making a lot of surprises tonight and clearly, you were unprepared to see it all. Then his body stiffened and sighed with a pink blush coloring his cheeks. "I'm sorry. Am I too straight forward?"
He gotten timid really quick, perhaps that he's embarrassed to show his eagerness in front of you.
"I must sound lame, huh?" a groan escaped from from while he stowed his gaze from yours.
If this was a first date with anybody, you would think of it as creepy and weird. But of course, this person is none other than Oikawa Tooru. Disapproving his demeanor would be impossible for you to make. You thought of it as cute of how attentive he is in his words.
"Not at all," your gentle tone persuaded the man as he lifted a smile at you.
"Would you actually do me on the first date? If you didn't know me at all, of course." The question made you snort. His dumb curiosity challenged him to blurt out nonsense like it isn't inappropriate. He slouched back in his chair with knees apart underneath the table and his arm propped on the armrest while staring at you. That sitting position made you swallow your own drool by how delicious he looked.
Anticipation filled in his mocha eyes as well as enjoyment.
You only gave a nervous laugh and sipped on your distilled water. "Would you?"
"I believe I asked you first, sweetie," he tittered, blowing a piece of his hair from his eyes.
"Hm, I don't know. I guess it just depends how smooth you are," you teased and settled down your glass.
Tooru was pleased at your answer, although it was a bit annoying to get you say the truth. But he doesn't need to get it out of you because he has confidence in himself that you are attracted to him as much he is to you.
"Interesting. I knew you'd be the type to play hard to get type," he said it with an unbothered smile.
Flicking his hair back, the same boyish charm glimmered in his brown pools with the help of the twinkling lights above his head. The one that made you feel young and beautiful.
"Two can play at that game."
You didn't get a chance to make a response when your waiter came back with two pristine wine glasses and placed them on the table.
The two of you let go of each other's hand to give him the proper attention and watched as he uncorked the Cabernet bottle with a pop, pouring it elegantly in each glass. Then you realized that none of you took a peek at the menu and the food options.
"Are we ready to order?" The server suggested with a tap of his ballpoint pen onto his miniature notepad.
You honestly didn't care what to eat and looked over at Tooru who didn't seem panicked. You figured he already looked at the menu when he made his plans with you.
"I'll have the six ounce wagyu," Oikawa ordered and then directed his eyes back at you. "I heard the uni pasta and black truffle edamame is good. Do you want to share everything?"
All options sounded appealing to you so you gave him a nod. At this point, you're just going to allow him how and what he wanted to spend his money on. You're just looking forward in being fed, and it's not just the food you're thinking about.
The waiter left the scene after a repeat of your order and went to a nearby computer to punch in the order. Your eyes aimed down at the wine glass and carried the delicate stem in between your fingers to lift the rim to your nose.
The strong essence of alcohol and grape fruit punched through your nostril, swigging the liquid in your glass to watch the oil stilts rain down the glass. Surprisingly, it isn't dry or pungent like most wines are. It was completely smooth and sweet.
Tooru brought his wine up in the middle of the table in toast. "To a night we will never forget."
You made a similar pose, and eventually tapped your glass with his. "Cheers."
