Occlumency the following night was not a good one. As Harry explained his dream both me and Severus paled. I looked towards him, and he nodded, sitting back down letting me take this one.
"Harry," I whispered, prompting him to lift his head, "Under no circumstances are you to do that again," I said causing his eyes to widen,
"What?! I-," I cut him off with a sharp glare,
"To actively try to open those doors with your mind is exactly what Voldemort wants," I said, "You've gone a long way, but you are no where near his level when it comes to Occlumency, you are still a teenager with harsh emotions," I chuckled, "trust me when I say anger is never a good shield," I thought back to when I was fighting Ares on the beach, shaking my head as I laughed dryly,
"I know your trying Harry, and we're both happy with your progress, but you are still a long way from perfecting the art,"
"But I can throw him out of my mind now!" Harry said, pointing at Severus who just snorted, and I raised an eyebrow, glancing towards Severus who, seemingly understood what I wanted raised his eyebrows in a 'are you sure?' manner. But I just nodded and he handed his wand over. I felt the weight a bit, before looking towards Harry,
"You've never seen me cast magic, have you?" I asked and he paused before shaking his head. I nodded and stood up, gesturing towards him to do the same, "The problem with my magic is that it's too raw to be easily controlled," I said frowning as I looked at the stick in my hands. The sea really did not like to be contained.
"Harry," I said looking up at him,

"Yes?" he asked, looking at me, confusion written all over his face
"Legilimens," I whispered, gently pointing the wand at Harry, his eyes blew wide and I was given access to every little part of his mind all at once. I grimaced and pulled back. He stumbled back a few steps staring at me with wide eyes, I flinched and handed Severus back his wand. He hissed and dropped it on the desk, I looked over to him, the wand was smoking. I sighed and subtly pulled some water from the air, cooling it down for a minute before
"T-t-that," Harry stuttered, "That's what the dreams feel like," He muttered and I grimaced, but he looked back up at me, "Not that your evil Professor! When you did it, it wasn't painful, it kind of felt like my mom's magic," he rambled, and I paused relaxing slightly, Harry looked in between us,
"That's why you can boss around Umbridge," he said, "Because you're more powerful than her," my grimace reappeared,
"Sort of," I said rubbing the back of my neck, "but it has more to do with status than power," I admitted, Harry was opening his mouth to fire out another question when Draco burst through the door,
"Professor Snape, sir- oh-sorry,"
Draco looking between the three of them in surprise,
"It's alright Draco," Severus standing up from his desk, "Potter is here for a little Remedial Potions," he said smoothly, Draco's gaze trailing towards me.
"I'm here to make sure they don't kill each other," I grinned, and Draco chuckled a little bit, Severus sent me a look before turning towards Draco,
"Well, Draco, what is it?" Severus asked, Draco snapping his attention back to the matter at hand,
"It's Professor Umbridge, sir- she needs your help," Malfoy said, "They've found Montague, sir. He's turned up jammed inside a toilet on the fourth floor." I couldn't help but snort a bit,

Draco's eyes widened a bit, as I snickered,
"Well then I suppose that's my specialty," I laughed, strolling out of the room before glancing back, just in time to see Draco mouth 'Remedial Potions?' to Harry, I snickered looking over to Severus who just rolled his eyes.
"You know they like each other, right?" I whispered to him as we made our way up to the fourth floor.
"Of course, I know Percy," He drawled, "I've had to deal with their incessant bickering for the past five years," I snickered again,
"Draco is going to try to get me to give both him and Harry detention," I laughed, "Draco knows I know he likes Harry, although Harry doesn't know he likes Draco," I laughed, Severus, looking over at me bemused,
"You're enjoying this far too much for someone who was in the same situation," he commented I grunted and punched him, we had reached the toilet by then, and ignoring Dolores I coaxed the water to push Montague out of the toilet gently,
"Yeah well, it's funny if you're not the oblivious one," I grunted at the effort of not exploding the pipes. Dolores looking between us,
"Well?" She said, scandalized, "Don't just stand there! Do something," Severus turned to her, obvious dislike in his tone,
"He is," He drawled gesturing towards me, "I don't know why you needed me, when you have him," I grunted, as I finally got him out and safely on the floor, releasing my control and letting the water flow out naturally,
"Because she didn't want me to know what she's doing, and I don't want to know so shall we?" I asked gesturing towards the doorway, Severus sneered but followed my direction,
"Wait! Percy I-," she tried but I pinned her with a glare,
"I already warned you, Dolores, not to go behind my back, but you continue to do so, so please excuse me as I do the same to you, Headmistress," I said following Severus outside and leaving her gapping like Montague gasping for air.
"Percy-," Severus started but I just shook my head,
"Yeah- yeah, I know, but hey! My patience only lasts so long!" I complained, pulling out Riptide and spinning it in my hand. I could still feel Severus' stare on me but I refused to look up,
"You shouldn't have come," he finally said and I sighed,
"Come on, you know that's not true," I said, I could feel Severus' frown from here,
"They should've gotten someone else to do it! Why you!" He cried, "Bloody Hell I could've done it for god's sake!"
But I just shook my head, smiling slightly, "We both know that's not true, you have a role to play, and so do I," I said still not looking up, "You know Annabeth had that same look on her face?" I asked, stopping in front of Severus' office,
"That same look of horror, Harry had on his face," I said, dodging Severus' outreaching hand, "I'll never be able to forget it, you know," I muttered.
Then shaking my head, I shuddered and looked up at Severus, smiling sadly,
"Well, I should be off, I'll see you tomorrow," I said dodging his hand as he reached out towards me again.

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.
