《A Melissa x Midoriya Fic》5: Awaken
Advertisement
I wake up with a huge pain in my head and an ice pack on my forehead. "Glad to see your up," I hear a gentle voice say and look over to see Melissa on my bed looking toward me. She pauses the tv and askes, "Are you alright, you rammed your head into the wall?" "Yeah. Just gotta big ol' headache," I reply sitting up and facing the tv. She was watching the Seven Deadly Sins, personally I'm not a fan, but I would never expect her watching it. "You a fan of the Seven Deadly Sins?" I asked pointing to the tv. "Yeah. I like all the different quirks in this (). Also, Meliodas' antiques in the beginning just make me laugh. I always watch it in my spare time," she says with a big smile slightly laughing. All I can do is smile at this. I look over and see what she means by Meliodas' antiques.
She just laughs and I blush when she laughs at him crazily groping the female protaganist. She looks at my blush and gives a face of 'oh yeah'. "Deku, did you see anything from... about 2 hours ago?" she askes while looking at the clock. I try to remember what happened and it comes rushing back to me. "N-no," I stutter out. "Unfortunately," I whisper so quietly she couldn't hear. "You say somethin' else Deku?" "N-no, I didn't say anything!" I yell with one of my usual freak outs. She can't help but laugh and she gets up. "Imma go get ready for bed," she walks into the bathroom after she grabs some of her pajamas.
When she closes the door, I activate 5% Full Cowling to grab my cstuff and put it on before she finishes her nightly routine. A few minutes later, she walks out in a blue night gown. I go to finish off my nightly routine. When I come out, she's on my bed watching YouTube. She notices me and scoots to her left a bit and pats the bed signalling me to sit down. Thinking it's not anything weird, I sit with my legs off to the side and looks at her phone.

She looks at me, pouts, and pulls me so I'm also laying in the bed with her and she shows me her phone. It was of the fight I had on I-Island with All Might and that mob boss guy. "Why are you showing me that fight?" I ask now holding her phone. "I only watch this video to make myself feel more confident or safer. And now that I'm here with you, I know for a fact I'm safe," she answers while leaning her head on my shoulder. For once, I'm not blushing and I lean my head slightly on hers as we continue watching the fight I had.
Afterwards, we watch the Seven Deadly Sins, and I'm actually starting to get into it. Though, I don't find all the groping funny, but it makes me happy it makes her laugh. We spend about an hour like that until she falls asleep on my shoulder. I just smile and fall asleep as well with her at my side.

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
