《Different》Chapter 49

The clock is about to hit 8 and I'm all dressed up, waiting outside the NYU for David, to pick me up.
Soon enough, his black car pulls up in front of me and he steps out, flashing me a smile. That car is oddly familiar to me.
"Woah! You look so good," he hugs me and I chuckle, thanking him.
I'm dressed casually - a crop top and some shorts, since we aren't going to a fancy restaurant, which I'm glad.
David opens the car door for me and I sit.
The car drive goes by quickly and we arrive to a small cafe/restaurant. I've never been here before, but it looks nice. When you walk in, you can see their cake selection and they look really good. I might come by some other time, just to try the cake.
To the right, there's the counter and some tables, but we go left, where it's more private. He chooses a table in the corner, under the speaker where cringe music plays. It's alright though.
"I just remembered," I turn towards David, who holds a scared look, "that I never asked you how old are you," I say and relief flashes through his eyes.
"I'm 21," he smiles and I nod.
"I just turned 20 a few months ago," I tell him and he shifts closer to me. He was about to say something, but the waitress came to take our order.
"I'd like a lemonade," I say politely.
"I'd only like water," he smiles to her.
Suddenly I feel a hand on my thigh, slowly moving upwards. I shift, away from him.
"Anything else?" The waitress asks and David thanks her, smiling at her too. When she leaves, he doesn't try anything anymore.
He soon starts talking about his childhood stories, that are kinda boring. They're all from summer camps. Like he doesn't have a life outside of them. They're really stupid too, and only he finds them funny. All I do is fake laugh.
"And we were tickling this guy so much, he lost his shit and started a fist fight," he laughs and I awkwardly smile, nodding.
"Are you ticklish?" He asks me and I move away, answering his question. A devilish smile paints on his face and he starts tickling me and I start laughing like crazy.
I don't mind someone tickling me. What I do mind, is someone shoving a hand in my shirt. And that's what happened. His hand started going up my shirt and I grabbed it, trying to move it away, as it got under my bra.
"Stop," I say and after a few seconds he moves it away.
"Okay okay, I won't tickle you anymore," he's acting like he isn't touching me against my will. I shift away from him and he moves closer to me.
This is getting bad. I should leave.
"I think I'll go," I say, getting up. He pulls me back by my waist.

"Come on, not yet," he's holding my by my waist, his hand travelling under my pants, touching my private parts. I want to scream, ask for help. But I can't. I'm so scared, I can't even move. God, I wish for Luke to march in like he always does and beats him up. But he's nowhere to be seen.
I breathe in, gaining courage and strength. I push him away, standing up. "I'm leaving," I put some money on the table and walk out the door. He follows me.
"Wait up!" He catches up with me, standing in front of me, looking confused. Either, he's a really good actor or just stupid, because he looks genuinely shocked.
Stepping in front of me, he leaves me no space to go past him, since we're on a sidewalk and cars are rushing past us. He holds his arms out, like he'd want to hug me. I step back and he steps closer to me, looking absolutely terrifying.
"Can I go home?" I look at him and he shakes his head, hugging me. I don't hug him back. Suddenly, I feel his hands in my pants again and I push him away, running.
After a while, I look back and he's nowhere to be seen. So, he didn't follow me, thank god. I walk along the street, towards the hospital. I can't bare being all alone tonight. A familiar black car approaches me, driving slowly next to me. My pace fastens and so does the car's. The car window rolls down and I see David.
"You're Vanessa's friend, aren't you?" He smirks and I stop walking, looking at the car. He doesn't say anything else, just drives away.
When realisation hits me, I sit on the cold concrete and start crying. Not caring that people are staring at me, I sit on the ground, crying, holding my knees up to my chest.
He raped her.
He fucking raped her.
The sound of a car interrupts my thinking and I was ready to fight him but when the windows roll down, I see no other than Jack Dawson.
Shit, he's being released from the hospital today.
"Emmy, is that you?" He asks me and I get up, walking up to his car.
"Get in," he opens the car door from the inside and I hop in. We drive to I don't know where, stopping at a lonely road. Jack shifts in his seat, looking at me now.
"What happened?" He grabs my hand and I pull it away. I can't bare feeling anyone's hands on me. Everything is dark and I can only see Jack's silhouette.
"He...touched me," I break down, crying and Jack awkwardly hugs me, since we're in a car. Then, he realises what I said and he backs off.
"Who? What?" His voice sounding angry, he grips the car seats.
"D-David. He raped her, Jack," I cry, wanting to scream instead. I want him dead. Or locked in a cell.

Jack furrows his eyebrows, holding my hand again. "Who? Vanessa?" He asks and I nod, not knowing if he saw me or not. But he freezes, so it's good to say that he did see me.
"I-" Jack can't complete the sentence, because he breaks down, crying too. We're such a big mess. V, if you're up there, watching us, I'm so sorry.
All of a sudden, I start laughing like crazy. I might be going crazy. I'm going fucking insane. I can't stop laughing. Jack just looks at me, startled.
"Emma, are you okay?" He asks me, worried he might be in a car with a psychopath.
"Look at me," I laugh even harder. "My whole life is one big joke. That's why I'm fucking laughing," Jack grabs me and looks at me so closely, I can see his sincere eyes, calming me. My laugh has now died down.
"Wanna go to my dorm?" He asks and just as I was about to say yes, I remember something.
"Can you take me to this address?" I give him the paper, where I have it written so I don't forget.
"What's that?" He asks me, confused.
"My old house." Jack gapes at me and I explain, "Luke bought it for us. I have to get my stuff, because I won't be living there anymore," he looks a bit relieved and sad, as he grips the steering wheel.
"That's a big fucking house," he says when we arrive. I sigh, nodding.
"I'll wait outside," Jack says and I look at him.
"Wait for me at your dorm. Luke and I might have another fight and I don't want you to wait for me." I explain and he was about to object but saw that I'm not changing my mind, so he nodded.
I quietly unlock the door, trying not to wake him up. The second I walk in, I can smell hard liquor. I roll my eyes, promising to myself that I won't go to the kitchen, where he probably is. Tip toeing, I go upstairs to our- I mean, his bedroom.
Quietly opening the door, I find Luke on the bedroom floor, passed out. I grab my clothes, laying on the floor next to him. Trying to step over him, I accidentally gently kick him, making him wake up.
"Emma?" He murmurs, getting up.
"You're back!" He hugs me and I push him away, making him stumble backwards and fall on the bed.
"Get your filthy hands off of me," I hiss, going to the bathroom to take everything.
"It was a prank Em," I hear him from his room. I roll my eyes, not believing him. He stumbles into the bathroom, grabbing the sink, not to fall.
"Dylan and I- we always prank people and this time we pranked her. I just didn't want you to know, because I knew you'd lose your shit," he starts excusing himself. I have to bite my cheek, not to go off at him.
"So this is men's logic huh? What she doesn't know, won't hurt her," I push him out of my way, so I can get to the bedroom. Of course, he follows me again.
"We've done this since forever!" He screams after me. "I'm sorry that I finally found a friend after Harry died!" He yells and I stop, having enough.
"You think I don't know how you feel? I killed my best friend for fuck's sake! So don't tell me about this shit," I spit and he shuts up.
"What?" He says quietly.
"I killed her. Aarya. Now you know why happened whatever happened yesterday," I breathe, looking at him. Luke looks absolutely terrible. He still smells of liquor.
"How? What did you do?" He sits on the bed.
"I don't wanna talk about it," I roll my eyes, but he grabs my wrists, pulling me on his lap. At first, I refuse to look at him, but then I give in. As soon as I look at him, he kisses me. Quickly, I move away but when I see his sad eyes, I can't help myself but to crash my lips onto his.
No matter how badly I want to leave and forget him, I can't. It's like I'm addicted and not able to be without him. But I also have to think with my head, which is saying something completely else, but what harm is it in giving him one last chance?
"Let's say I believe you," I murmur into his lips and the biggest smile paints on his face.
"But," I move away, "you lie to me one more time, we're through. And I won't back down," I say and he nods, hugging me tightly.
I get off of him and text Jack that I won't be sleeping at his dorm tonight. He doesn't reply and I sigh to myself, falling asleep in Luke's arms.
As I read that text, my heart broke into a million pieces. At least now I know what I have to do. What I deserve. What my worth is. And it's okay, I'm not even angry at her. I'm angry at myself for being so naive. I should've stayed the way I was before Emma. When I was heartbroken, numb and lost. At least then no one could hurt me more, since I didn't feel anything.

Woohoo I'm on a roll for the last few days. 2 chapters in one day!
Okay but really, this chapter is finally off of my chest. It was really hard to write the date part cause it was very real. It made me really angry, so I had to take multiple breaks from writing it, to calm myself down.
But I do hope you liked the chapter. If you did vote and comment! Love ya
