《》Chapter 1

I waited, my gaze fixed on the girl lying down in the bed. I had a chance to take a good look at her before they covered her up. She was rather small to me, but probably a regular size for not being a werewolf, her face was heart-shaped with thin lips and a narrow nose. Her breasts were rather large, as where her hips, but her shoulders were small. Her figure was generous and her face pretty, surrounded by a cascade of light brown curls still caked with mud.
I stopped my analysis when the girl's eyes flew open. She sat up with a gasp and looked around her panicked until her eyes crossed path with mine. I smiled at her while her gaze narrowed, analyzing me.
"Hello" I tentatively said as the girl frowned. "I'm James"
She looked around herself at the small hospital-like bedroom she was lying in. "You are in our pack house" I explained, "We found you in the woods..."
The girls eyes lit up with worry, "Leïla", she said. Her voice was soft but mature, it matched more a grown woman than a girl who looked sixteen. "Where is Leïla?" she asked, "She was with me in the woods, where is she?"
I shook my head, "You were alone. Our patrol was alerted by the noise but when we came, no one was left. We almost missed you, you almost drowned in a muddy swamp."
She sighed. "They took her" she whispered almost to herself.
"Who took her?" I asked, but I didn't get an answer, someone knocked on the door and opened it slightly before slipping in.
"Beta, the Alpha has now time to meet her, if she's awake", stated one of the she-wolf warrior bending slightly her head in a respectful demeanor.

"I think it's time you meet our Alpha, then" I simply said looking at the girl.
She obviously wasn't in her most presentable form, her hair was messy and full of mud, her face was covered with dry mud too, but her clothes were the worst. She was wearing a long black dress with a dark purple cape. When they found her, she was fully immersed in the swamp. They pulled her out, but none of the nurse or the maids had wanted to change her, because of her smell. She definitely was not a Human.
_____
The werewolf boy stated that we needed to meet his alpha. Like I cared. He handed to me a small bag that the she-wolf had brought in. "We thought you might want to change. There will be time later for a shower". I nodded as he stepped out to let me have some privacy.
It was useless to try to run away now. I could feel that I was too weak to go anywhere and as long as they were nice, I should stay to gather my energy. I pulled out of the bag a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt with matching sweatshirt. How classy. I quickly pulled my own clothes off, leaving pieces of dry mud all over the bedroom's floor. I felt sorry for the person who was going to clean after me. Trying to do anything to my hair was useless so I just let it be. I had been worse.
The werewolf boy named James was waiting for me outside the door. As I walked out, he looked at me, head to toe. I was probably looking like a fool, barefoot in sportswear twice my size, but honestly, it wasn't the moment to care about that.
"Follow me" he instructed as he started walking along the hallway. I had been in a pack house once and it had been so different from this one. It was neat, the hard wood floor was clean, and the walls were cream colored. The hallway was lined on one side by doors and on the other by windows, I couldn't see outside as it was nighttime and pitch black. He led me down a few flights of stairs before we reached the commons. A few adult werewolves were lingering, playing games, talking or watching tv. Most of them bent their heads towards the Beta and looked at me curiously. I could see them taking in my scent and frowning, then looking at each other. I diverted my gaze back to my guide's back.

Near the entrance of the massive house was a room closed by double wooden doors. They were made out of massive wood and carved with beautiful pictures of werewolf legends, they were much more ancient than the house they sat in. James knocked on the door and a man answered on the other side.
I followed James in, and I SMELLED him.
