《A helping hand (American Dragon: Jake Long Fic)》Ch. 11

It was a sea male with some scars on his face. Specifically a royal guard Marc had grown up with to know.
"Z'edrik! What are you doing-"
"Your majesty, if you could just-"
"SILENCE."
The man stopped and was frozen in fear. Marc called upon his trident and held it against the man.
"What was your purpose in..in helping that landdweller get his hands on hybrid fins!"
Z'edrik glared but smiled cruelly.
"Well, what do you think? Money. Being a palace guard can only get you so much."
Marc glared but sensed the man was lying.
"You're lying, you're not smart enough for this. You made an auction exactly near my location. Who do you work for, and I may lower your sentence."
Z'edrik scoffed and was about to lie once more but Marc burned him with his trident.
"I am getting impatient. Who did you work for, and try to lie to me? You won't be singing anytime soon.."
Z'edrik was getting nervous and the more Marc pressured his vocal chords he was getting loose lipped. Finally he gave in.
"It was J'asear! He wanted to get you to stop your little land mission."
Marc paused before sensing the man wasn't lying. Marc didn't give it a second thought and knocked Z'edrik out. Jake finally finished processing everything Before blurting out.
"You're a prince?"
Marc nodded waving it off.
"I was about to tell you tonight after everything, now, I have a problem."
Jake raised an eyebrow for him to explain.
"You see, my people have been living in fear of the land for quite some time. Sirens have been fearful of the land since forever to me. With the whole human sailors and their lot getting in a mess. We've been persecuted, misjudged and hidden. I decided enough was enough. Our brothers and sisters, from Atlantis tell us all about the land yet my parents refuse to send anyone up there. So I put myself up to it. I was going to show my people that the land dwellers are no longer barbaric as in the past."

Jake listened before pausing and turned to Marc.
"You sacrificed yourself to prove to your people that you can move on from tradition?"
Marc laughed blushing a bit.
"When you say it like that, it sounds amazing. It's actually been hard. Land dwellers, they treat the ocean horribly, but I see it's effort in trying to reduce that. I just, I knew there were hybrid fins hunting, but we fortified our hybrids with the most security, under his security. The point is, he is working under orders from the royal advisor for my family. I don't want to believe it but under the trident, there's no other way.."
Jake put a hand on Marc's shoulder in support. He smiled down at him transforming back into a human.
"Well, it wouldn't be a surprise to see someone trying to usurp a throne."
Marc rolled his eyes but his eyes hardened.
"I..Need to tell my parents, but then this will just prove I'm not ready. I think, I think I need to stay low for now. I need a favor."
Jake listened and was surprised by what Marc asked.
"You sure?" Marc nodded.
"It's the only way my people can have justice and I stay here. I feel like my time here with you is enough for me to go on.."
Jake flushed but smiled back bashful.
"Well, you inspire me too princey. I promise you I will get this done. Now you should probably head home."
Marc nodded. He lived in a small apartment that was pretty nice. It was cozy and not too open. It was a good place to live and it was nearby. Marc left to his home and sighed as he slid down the door. Those poor hybrids, why would J'asear betray his family like this. The man even encouraged his work to integrate into the land. Marc slept that night restless. His thoughts were rampant, it was odd, with Jake he just felt like all his worries slipped away. Then he would just need to be closer. Jake was just glad the whole Val, incident died down after a day and was happy to go to class as normal. What wasn't normal was to have a scream heard down the hall and running footsteps reach their class. It was Stacy who was out of breath but excited non the less.

"Val is attending our school!"
Was all she said before moving out the way to reveal Marc in casual clothing. His leather jacket and low cut white shirt. His necklace out on display and wearing shades indoors.
"Hey~"
The classroom swooned at his voice. Even the teacher was flabbergasted.
"Please please, pick any seat you'd like."
Marc turned his head to Jake and made his way over to him.
"Hello firecracker, Miss me?"
Jake wanted to combust. He pulled a chair next to him and Marc sat down.
"Such a gentleman. You spoil me."
Jake was holding back taking Marc away from all the prying eyes to just have him to himself-. Quickly pushing down his instincts he chose to smile dangerously back.
"Well I hope we can talk this over at lunch. Trixie is going to spazz when she sees you."
Marc nodded. After the first few classes the whole school knew about Marc attending their school. Trixie was as expected spazzing out that Marc was there.
"Home boy, we are going to rule the school with you on our side!"
Marc just shrugged but agreed with her non the less.
"I've never been to a school, I've mostly been tutored. But I've seen enough movies and shows about high school that I think I'm well off on social cues."
Their group looked at each other and looked behind marc at the line of fangirls.
"Yeah. Sure thing babe.."
Jake said trying to hold his laughter. Marc paused before blushing a blue color.
"Woah whats with your face being blue.."
Spud asked looking really interested at Marc's face.
Jake looked too in surprised. Marc laughed and tried to calm down. They watched as the blue faded from his face.
"I..I'm sorry, I was embarrassed by a thought, and I blushed. I have blue blood, almost black in some light but it's as simple as that."
Jake nodded and wanted to see what other parts of his skin turned blue. Jake was shaken out of his thoughts when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up to see Lynn smirking down at him.
"Hey, seems like you two made up."
Marc nodded and leaned over Jake.
"Oh yes, he made it up to me in ways you can't even imagine~"
Jake's face lit up so fast that they could see actual smoke come out his ears in embarrassment. There was a pause before everyone bursted into laughter. Jake spluttered onto Marc cursing under his breath.
"If you weren't so pretty I'd smash your face in."
Marc laughed at that.
"I'd like to see you try firecracker."
From then on Marc became an official site to see seated with the outcasts of the school. Soon enough the hype of a celebrity died down after a while. Marc made it clear he was there to learn and soon enough people backed off from trying to be his friend for their own gain. He still had fans though and he would have to take a photo from time to time.
