《'Best Friends'》chapter five

chapter five
After getting dressed, with few interruptions, Mikey left with Jasper and got into his friend's Chevy Malibu. They played throwback songs, singing along loudly and obnoxiously, and followed the GPS to the location Jasper's roommate sent him. When they parked both boys' eyes widened at the sheer size of the house next to them. It was massive and had so many windows. Ricky and Aaron walked out and waved to Jasper who started getting out of the car. The two boys met up with the other two, then walked inside.
The inside was even more grandiose than the outside and left Mikey with his mouth hanging wide open. Jasper pushed it closed, softly smiling at his best friend. Flashing quickly in his mind, Jasper thought about kissing Mikey to close his mouth, but he chose not to. He didn't want to ruin anything just yet. Maybe if he got drunk enough he would do it, there would be enough liquid courage in his body to enact it. Plus, he could just blame his drunk self the next day while sporting a broken heart if Mikey didn't reciprocate the feelings.
Beside him, Mikey whispered, "this house is huge!"
Ricky laughed slightly at the comment, but kept leading them to his room where the other guys were. They had some bottles of alcohol—Captain Morgan, blue raspberry Vodka, and Smirnoff—and mixers. Some of the guys were drinking while others talked. When Jasper and Mikey entered they nodded and quickly there were cups in the two boys' hands.
Mikey turned to Jasper and raised an eyebrow along with his blue cup. They tapped edges and drank. Mikey would tell he had more alcohol than mixer, but he didn't complain. Jasper was glad to have more alcohol, he could use the warmth and buzz before trick or treating with Mikey looking hot.

Somehow during the night the two best friends were separated from the college friends, but they enjoyed each other's presence. They brought their drinks—each boy was on their third cup—with them, slowly drinking them along the way, and becoming slightly drunk. Jasper could feel his limbs tingle and his whole body was warm, while Mikey smiled softly when the alcohol hit and his body loosened up. He had thoughts he wanted to say, but he kept them to himself.
Eventually, with their bags full of chocolate and other candies, they stopped at a large hill, laying on the cold grass. But, while trying to casually sit down Jasper tripped over his feet and face planted onto the ground. He groaned, but slowly rolled to his back, staring up at Mikey who stood over him. He had a soft smile on his face and in that moment, Jasper wished that his best friend would just kiss him so he could get this crush thing out of his system.
Mikey found himself sitting beside Jasper, taking in the sight of his best friend—beautiful in the moonlight and streetlight with his eyes glazed and hair messily on top of his head. He bit the corner of his lip and Mikey's eyes found themselves zeroing in on the action. He really wanted to kiss his best friend, but didn't want to ruin anything; yet, Mikey could already imagine how the kiss would feel like.
It would be soft like everything else of Jasper, amazing, and the best feeling of the world. Some times it'd keep Mikey up at night. He would lay in bed and think of how it's feel to press his lips against his best friend's, and it always filled his stomach with a certain warmth he'd identify as butterflies. Mikey knew he's had this urge to kiss Jasper for awhile—way longer than the time at the baseball field—yet he couldn't place the time it all started.

Yet, instead of kissing his best friend, Mikey simply placed himself over Jasper. He slipped a leg between Jasper's and the other on his left side, then kept himself propped up with his forearms digging into the grass on either sides of his best friend's head. He gazed down, memorizing the twenty-one year old's facial features he's already had in his memory.
Underneath him, Jasper's heart was beating wildly in his chest, yet everything else of him was calm. His hands ghosted over the sides of Mikey, then he dropped them to his sides. He decided to not act on his own wishes even if he was drunk and his inhibitions were pushing on his mind. But everything, his thoughts and willpower, left when one of Mikey's hands lightly touched his cheek.
Mikey whispered with the softest and smallest voice Jasper had ever heard, "you're really fucking beautiful, Jasper."
Then, his eyes were wandering Jasper's face and he was looking heavily at his friend's lips. Mikey pressed his body more so he was practically laying on Jasper and the older one of them finally found himself raising his hands so they were on either side of Mikey's face. Jasper couldn't help but caress his cheekbones, and slowly fall more in love with his best friend when his eyes fell shut up. A weight pressed into Jasper's palm and he knew Mikey had completely left himself open to Jasper, left his body and mind vulnerable.
When Mikey opened his eyes Jasper could read every emotion in them. He continued feathering his touch over Mikey's cheeks, and breathed out deeply, just wanting to push up and kiss Mikey, but he knew he shouldn't since they're both drunk and probably won't remember the next day. So, instead he tenderly suggested, "We should head home, Mikey," and helped the soft drunk boy up from the ground.
Once they were at Mikey's house he got his best friend into his room and saw Aiden and his friend awake on his own bed. They looked up and Jasper guided Mikey to his own bed. The college student helped Mikey out of his shirt, hearing Aiden's friend ask, "are we gonna have to leave?"
But, Aiden shook his head, knowing that Jasper really cared for Mikey. Plus, he could just tell by their movements that the end result would be them sleeping next to each other.
As Mikey got in bed, falling asleep quickly, and Jasper stared down at his friend. His heart hurt and all he wanted to do was cry from all of the emotions he felt. As he stripped down to his boxers, not caring that Aiden had a friend over, he changed into a pair of Mikey's shorts and climbed into his bed, falling into his spot—the inside of the bed and against the wall. Impulsively, Jasper leaned over and kissed Mikey's forehead.
Then, before he rolled over to his side to have his back to Mikey, he threatened Aiden. He said, "don't say a fucking thing Aiden, or I will hurt you."
The younger brother nodded and Jasper closed his eyes, dreaming of a time when him and Mikey were together in the future.

So idk what happened. This wasn't gonna end up like this, but I think the music that I was listening to—soft songs that made me feel some sort of way—influenced this chapter. But I think the latter half of this chapter is my favorite. I love soft boys.
Also, you should definitely read the chapter before.
