chapter thirty-seven
When Marlene came in to rally all her grandchildren plus Jasper up for dinner, then presents, she found Mikey asleep on his bed on his back with his hands above his head. His mouth was parted and his one leg was outside of the cover. She exhaled at the sight and shook his leg, pressing on Jasper's too.
Her five grandchild, she always considered Jasper as one since he'd been in Mikey's life since the start of middle school and never left, plus he was close with everyone in the family. He was basically a Balm at that point. He turned away from her touch and into Mikey, forehead hitting Mikey's upper arm.
"Jasper, Mikey," she called out and tried shaking them again. This time Mikey opened his eyes and blearily looked towards his grandmother, not really registering anything at the moment. She smiled and told him to wake up Jasper, then come down for the ham and presents.
She left and Mikey sighed, squeezing his eyes shut and clenching his fists. He didn't want to get up, but he sat up and look down to his side where Jasper was still sleeping. His hair was in his face and he looked so soft in the moment, but Mikey grinned maniacally for his idea to wake up his boyfriend. His hand landed soundly on Jasper's stomach and his boyfriend groaned, punching the side of Mikey.
"That's what you get, you ass," Jasper mumbled as he untangled himself from the covers.
The two wiped away their sleep and went to the kitchen where it smelled like honey glazed ham and dough. There was a large ham on the stove top next to a tray of croissants. Mikey grinned at the food and helped himself, sitting beside Marlene and Aiden. Jasper sat beside Max and they dug into the food.
There was an extra face at the table and Mikey nodded to her. The girl was pretty with tightly curled hair—two poofs on top and the rest of the ethnic hair let down—and her light colored eyes smiling. She had a Christmas sweater on with the face of a reindeer and small bells on the antlers.
"I like your shirt," Mikey complimented, a hand covering his mouth since he had food in his cheek.
Noah's girlfriend thanked him and commented on his—a grey t-shirt with "I do it for the ho's" around a winking Santa Claus. He smirked down at the shirt and nodded, then went back to eating. Around the table there was some chatter but Mikey stayed to himself, still feeling a little tired yet. But, once Marlene announced presents he woke up and sat up straight, ready for the presents he's been waiting for all day.

Everyone sat in the living room and Marlene started handing out gifts. She apologized to Noah's girlfriend that she didn't get her one, but the girl shook her head understandingly. Noah had his own gift for her and Mikey ran to grab Jasper's from his closet. The small box with a glass crab figurine inside was wrapped in red wrapping paper and a sticker labeling who it belonged to on top.
Back in his spot, he felt Jasper's eyes on him, but he ignored them. He knocked his knee into his boyfriend's and acted normal in front of his family.
Once the presents were handed out, Marlene gestures for everyone to open theirs and Mikey handed Jasper the box. Mikey was given two presents and knitted his eyebrows together at the long cylindrical one. He opened Jasper's presents first and grinned at the Funko Pop, then went to the cylindrical present. He spread out the poster and his smile grew further at the show's characters on it.
"Thanks, Jasp," he whispered and set the presents aside to open his family's.
He'd gotten his favorite candy from Max, a pack of boxers (a gag gift) and the serious gift of earbuds from Noah, and money from his grandmother. Aiden quickly told him to open his gift in their room, but Mikey challenged him and peeled back a small section of wrapping paper from the small box, in front of his family. Once he read the writing on the front he coughed and hid the box behind his back.
"Okay, yeah, I'll wait until our room."
The actual gift Aiden got him was a bracelet with a single bead as his favorite color, almost immediately slipping it on his wrist. He thanked his brothers and grandmother, then looked around the circle for what to do next.
Jasper had his presents in his lap: the crab figurine, a book from Marlene, a card game from Noah, a margarita mix from Aiden, and candy from Max. He thanked the Balms and leaned back into the couch, spreading his legs out to touch Mikey. He reached behind Mikey to peek at the gift from Aiden and his head fell against Mikey's side when he started to laugh at it.
"You're lucky Cadence isn't here, bitch," Jasper said to Aiden and his smile widened. The younger Balm whistled innocently and looked away with wide eyes, commenting on the Christmas movie on the tv. Marlene tried to get out what the gift was, but the three were silent on the matter.
Upstairs, when they were allowed to leave, Mikey smacked his brother on the arm. He threw the partially wrapped gift and asked, "why the fuck did you buy glow in the dark condoms? And how did you do it?"

Aiden shrugged noncommittally and answered, "Cadence did since he has a job. I jokingly bought it at first, but then it just stuck and I thought it would be hilarious."
Mikey rolled his eyes eyes and finished unwrapping the present, pushing it to the back of his dresser drawer, out of sight. He was not going to use them specifically because they glow in the dark and would be a nuisance.
Sitting on his bed, Mikey looked over and asked, "so what's up with the fucker? Did you text him?"
"I'm gonna be going over to his house soon, Nanny is driving me."
"I can drive you."
Aiden shook his head and Mikey felt Jasper's fingers brush over his arm, warning him not to. They each knew what would happen if Mikey drove his brother to Cadence's house. Jasper was trying to keep his boyfriend from punching a minor, and Aiden was protecting his crush.
The older Balm ended up murmuring, mainly to himself, "it's gonna happen sometime." But, he pulled out his phone and went on the social media apps, waiting for Jasper to lay beside him. He doesn't until he's done talking to Aiden about what he'd gotten Cadence, but then the younger Balm left with the presents and a worried smile.
Jasper commented, "you'll be fine, you have Mr. Pissy here to deck Cadence if anything wrong happens." The twenty-one year old smacked Mikey's thigh and squeezed it. He nodded to Aiden and turned in his spot when the door shut. He smirked towards his boyfriend who was looking at him over the device. "You want to try out Aiden's gift?"
Shaking his head, Mikey told Jasper no and leaned up to meet his lips. His hand ghosted over Jasper's neck and his body relaxed when his boyfriend's hand gripped his side. Their lips worked against each other and Jasper was leaning over Mikey when he laid back. He sat on the younger's hips and rolled his own hips against Mikey's tight jeans.
Jasper smirked and pulled away from Mikey, moving his mouth to kiss against his neck. Mikey's skin was warm and under his shirt his skin prickled, Jasper pressed his thumbs into it. As he was moving his lips towards the corner of Mikey's jaw, he must have hit a sensitive spot since his boyfriend's breathing hitched and Jasper felt the groan through his body.
Simpering against Mikey's skin, Jasper went back and tried to find the exact spot. Once he did Mikey's fingers threaded through his hair and tightly pulled at the scalp. There was euphoria racing through Mikey's veins and he couldn't help but express it through low moans as his boyfriend kissed and trailed his finger over his body.
The responsible part of Mikey pushed Jasper from his crotch, but the horny part wanted him to continue. He whispered into the heated air, "we shouldn't, Jasp, my brothers—" and stifled a groan when Jasper slipped his hand under his jeans.
His words got caught in his throat when Jasper's soft hand wrapped around his dick. His eyes rolled back and he moved his hips to match Jasper's movement when he started. Jasper's touch was like heaven, yet Mikey was split between listening for incoming guests to his door and just being in the moment. He would rather focus fully on his boyfriend, but he was worried about corrupting his brothers who could walk in at any second.
Luckily they didn't, but his grandmother's voice carried up the stairs and called for him. Mikey swore into Jasper's mouth and they separated, Mikey feeling ripped off from a handjob. He fixed his clothes and opened the door, walking to the top of the stairs for his grandmother, a scowl present on his face to let Marlene know he was annoyed.
"What's up?" he grouchily inquired.
His grandmother was halfway up the stairs and she smiled at her grandson. "I just got back from dropping Aiden off at Cadence's, but would you be able to pick him up whenever he wants to be?"
Mikey huffed and Marlene gave him a pointed look. He apologized stiffly but agreed to do so, wishing to get back to Jasper. She walked into her own room and Mikey closed the door to his roughly. Jasper laughed at him and kissed his cheek when he laid beside him.
"Do you think she knows?" Jasper questioned and Mikey shook his head, this wasn't her usual hovering and cockblocking, they were just unlucky. He told Jasper that and convinced him to finish watching Assassination Classroom since he wasn't hard anymore and didn't think he'd be able to be so for the rest of the night.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
It's a lot easier than I thought to cockblock these two 😹. Marlene Balm definitely knows, but is making it seem like she doesn't. It'll be a few more chapters until they figure that out, just telling you now. Also, there's like ten more chapters until the end (the tenth is a bonus one).
