Ava's pov

I’m in a hand to hand fight with the enemy. I get an opening and kick their leg out from under them and they fall. I climb on top of them and I start choking them out.

But then I open my eyes and realize it was just a dream. I look down and see that I am choking my mate. Oh goddess I hurt my mate. I move to the foot of the bed and get off only to trip on the couch that’s there. I fall back to the ground and put as much distance between my mate and I as I can.

My back hits the dresser that is under the TV. How could I hurt my mate, I never wanted to hurt her. Oh goddess I hurt my mate. I feel a tear run down my cheek and onto my neck. I tuck my knees into my chest and look at my mate, I can see a bruise starting to form. Her look is soft and she gets off the bed and comes over to me.

I shake my head no but she keeps walking. She kneels down next to me and wipes away another tear from my face. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to. I'm so so sorry, I'm sorry," I repeat.

"Hey it's okay, I'm okay. I know you didn't mean it." I reach up and hover over the bruise. Mia pulls me closer to her and I hear her heart beat. "See I'm fine." I grab the side of her shirt and pull her closer to me. She kisses the top of my head and I fall back asleep.

I wake up because there is shaking on my bed, I look over and see my mate tossing and turning. She’s having a nightmare. "Baby wake up," I say as I put my hand on her shoulder.

Next thing I know Ava is on top of me with her hands around my throat, and not in the good way. I see her eyes open and once she sees what’s happening she lets go and rushes to the foot of the bed and I think she forgot the couch was there because she fell over it and crawled to the dresser.

I see panic and sadness mixed with guilt in her eyes. I get off the bed and walk over to her even though she’s shaking her head no. I know she didn't mean to hurt me. I kneel down next to her. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to. I'm so so sorry, I'm sorry," she repeats.

"Hey it's okay, I'm okay. I know you didn't mean it," I tell her. I don't know much about her yet but I know she would never hurt me and I would like to know more about her. She reaches up to my neck but never touches it. She’s looking at what I'm guessing is a bruise. I pull her close to me and lay her head on my chest so she can hear my heart beat. "See I'm fine," I say. She pulls me closer and I kiss the top of her head. I see her eyes close and know she’s sleeping. I pick her up and walk back to the bed and lay her down, I lay next to her and she cuddles up to me. I close my eyes and breathe in my mate's secant and drift off into sleep.
