《The Unwanted Mate (Edward Cullen x OC)》Didyme's Heartwarming Warmth
Advertisement
Walking to Didyme's grave is usually a joyous walk but when you just find that your one true love doesn't wish to be with you just dulls the entire thing. As I near Didyme's section of the garden a small faint smile graces my lips as I simply cannot be miserable entering her warming area. It truly is a mystery to all how her grave can be such a warming gift, I like to think her spirt surrounds the area and with it her gift to bring joy surrounds it too. I sit on the small platform at the bottom of the sculpture and start to create a rather large bouquet of daffodils, sunflowers and yellow roses. Typically I don't include roses but I feel in the mood to add some love to today's arrangement. I add it to the front of the moon so it looks like the small female figure is holding them.
As I sit back down, I rest my back on the stone and a stray tear falls. Now this is shocking and a gasp leaves my lips as I wipe the liquid away. "Oh mother. Why can't you be hear now? I need your warmth and your guidance. Why does fate toy with me so that they decide my true mate is a man who loves a human rather than me? Am I such a disappointment? I know I am of Volturi royalty and most would frown upon being fated with me but I would have thought better of Carlisle's adopted son. Maybe Carlisle hasn't seen his son in some time, after all, Carlisle wouldn't have missed an opportunity to see me." I let out a shuddered breath before standing and kissing the top of the statue's head. "I love you mother. Every day you aren't hear is straining me and father. He wouldn't ever say that though, he hates making me upset but I see it. I know you are here as I feel your warmth." Just as I finish my declaration, a small yellow butterfly gently rests on my finger.

"Hello little one. Now I haven't seen you around here before, and I'm guessing you have been sent by a greater power to make sure I know I'm not alone." I say to the young butterfly. "Yes your grace. A lovely woman asked me to come. She said you would know who it is without a name." The yellow winged creature states before landing on my nose before fluttering away. I stare in awe of the statue in front of me "Oh mother thank you. You have shown me you are here." I exclaim and just as I was about to sit and talk to her more I hear someone clearing their throat.
I turn to the sudden noise and smile at the young guard. "Your highness, the masters wish you to be back at the throne room. There has been a development with young Mr Cullen" Alec states and offers me his arm like many of the Male guard do. I smile gratefully and hand him a black iris which he attaches to his suit jacket. As we walk back into the throne room, I smile widely and skip up to the Dias "Oh Father! Uncles! You'll never guess what happened! Didyme sent a young little butterfly so I would know of her presence around her area." I say in a soft voice which radiates my true happiness. The smiles on the three feared males is enough evidence that they can also feel my true emotion "oh dear one that is judt a wonderful find. Even in her new place she is with you. She just wants to see you happy" Uncle Aro states with such joy in his eyes I haven't seen in years. All three kings walk to me and engulf me in a tight embrace "thank you for allowing me to visit her today" I say quietly and kiss all of their cheeks before I go to my place behind my fathers throne. Just then do I notice Edward is back with a Volturi cape surrounding him with a human clinging to his arm. This action pains my heart and a small frown slips onto my face for a mere second before I catch myself and a small smile is back. "Oh you must be Alice. I have heard great things from Carlisle, oh I do hope Jasper is doing well. I have heard of his struggle as he can feel the whole covens bloodlust if it occurs. If he needs any help at all please let me know. I truly admire him for all he has been through in his young vampiric life." I say to the pixie looking girl in the back. As my statement settles, all three guests looked shocked, whether it be my knowledge of them and their coven or that I am offering aid to a young vampire I do not know.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
