《The Unwanted Mate (Edward Cullen x OC)》Heartwarming Mates

As Edward walks toward Gaia, he sees quite a few different animals surrounding her and looking peaceful. "You are absolutely adorable. It doesn't matter that you're smaller than most fawns, it just means that you can evade them when you play better." Gaia's soft voice travels through the wood like a quiet melody and Edward can't help but lean against a tree and admire her.
"Well yes, you can play with the bunnies but you have to make sure you don't hurt them. Even though you're small for your species, you're quite larger than a bunny ok?" After the fawn relaxes into her lap, it turns its head to Edward then back to Gaia. "Yes I know there is a person there and by guessing that they haven't said anything it's Edward. I know my soul-siblings would've joined us by now. Oh, Isa you will love Jasper. He has a soft spot for animals I can just tell." She giggles then turns her head to Edward tilting it like a confused puppy.
"How can I help you Edward? Most of these animals are frightened of your family due to the massacre of the species with no regard to their families." Hearing it like that, Edward feels horrible for not realising. He slowly inches forward before sitting next to the small girl and just looks down with curious eyes at the small animal in her lap. "You can talk to them and understand them? That's why the blue bird came into the room and why you know the fawns name?" The cute thinking face he is pulling causing his mate to erupt into a fit of giggles while hugging the fawn close to her.
"So-sorry. Yo-you're thinking face is just so cute." She says in between giggles and catching her unneeded breath. "Wow. I didn't know I would laugh like this with you. I mean! I just meant that I thought you didn't like me so I didn't know you would....I'll be quiet." She grows more embarrassed and shy as she keeps talking and Edward can't help but love her way of seeing it.
"I apologise for the way you see or saw me. I...ive had a rough few months and I know that isn't an excuse but I guess I got a one track mind when it came to Bella. I didn't expect Alice to bring her to Italy to save me....I didn't expect to be saved to be completely honest with you." His broken look causes Gaia to softly lift a teenage bunny and place it in his lap. "She loves cuddles. Found that out when I was making flowers grow. Her name is Grace and she has saw your family around but bounces away before you can get her."

As Gaia explains who the animal in his lap is, Edward runs his fingers through her soft fur gently not to cause her harm. A smile widens on his face when he feels just how soft the fur is "wow. I didn't know bunny fur was so soft. It's like a fancy rug." His quiet laugh catches Gaia by surprise. Edward catches her shocked face and pulls his cute thinking face again, if Gaia was human she would be bright red from blushing. "I umm...you laughed. Like actually laughed. I must be doing something right. Grace wants you to know that if you ever want bunny cuddles to just softly call her name and she'll find you. I think you have a companion in her now."
Edward can't help the warm feeling settling in his heart and slightly fuzzy feeling in his stomach by the way Gaia is talking. He can't help but question what is happening. "I have a question for you princess if I may?" His voice beings Gaia back from petting Isa in her lap. "Of course Mr Mason-Cullen, how may I assist you?" She says in a horrible British accent to make him smile.
He was trying to be serious but the way she just spoke has him laughing harder than he had for a while. After a few minutes have passed, Edward calms himself enough to ask his question "How come no one knows of your story? I mean, we know of the kings and a brief explanation of their story but not yours. I wouldn't have known you were the princess if it wasn't for your close resemblance to Marcus. I don't mean to intrude or overstep, I'm just curious." He scratches the back of his neck nervously as he bites his bottom lip, a bit of a nervous habit he has had over the years.
"That's because I was almost kidnapped back when the Volturi was only starting up. After that, my father along with Uncles decided that my existence was high information and too many having that information could cause destruction. Especially since I am Marcus' biological daughter, we have a tighter bond than most parental bonds. You see, the brighter a bond the stronger it is. My bond with my father is like the sun, he cannot look at it directly that's why I stand behind him. It sounds difficult to understand but hmmm." She takes a minute to think about how to word it.
"Think of it like a concentrated ray of light. You wouldn't want to directly look at it as it could cause humans to damage their eyes. We could look but it wouldn't be pleasant for our eyes either. That's like the bond with my father. Because he came back to change me a few days after his change, that showed the world just how much love we have for each other. I left my life to be with him. I could've been married and had children, instead I chose my father." As she explains, Edward just gazes at her with a soft expression. "I'm also sorry about your mother Elizabeth. Watching a mother lose herself to illness is never something pleasant. I know the pain, probably better than most. Nowadays, medicine is something spectacular but your days or even mine medicine was a joke." She places her hand on his forearm and gives it a gentle squeeze.

He closes his eyes and lays back on the Forest floor just soaking up all the sounds and her voice. He can't help but feel lulled into a slight daze by how luscious her voice is. "I haven't spoke about her in years. I feel like a failure of a son when I think of her." His voice cracks as if he were to break into heartbreaking sobs at any moment. "You aren't a failure Edward. She would be very proud you are living your life. I know you still play piano like you did when she was alive. You're letting her memory live on even without thinking."
Edward's face turns to her and a look of utter confusion is on his face "how do you know all of this information about us? I mean...I guess Carlisle but even knowing Jasper's story would be hard to know." Gaia takes an deep breath before laying back next to him on the forest floor. "You know I can talk to animals, but did you know that animals are excellent at gathering information? I made sure that I had a few birds and butterflies stay with Carlisle and then his coven but also, during the civil war, I heard of Maria. I made sure I had quite a few confidants over in America. I knew about all the newborn armies and I made sure that they didn't get too sizeable. Major Whitlock's army or rather, his sire's army was the largest in all of America at the time and I was actually travelling over to Texas to make sure it was destroyed. When I got there, I was thankful that Maria's body was ripped apart and the Major along with Peter and his mate Charlotte weren't there. They were the three that kept their head as people put it. What Jasper doesn't know is that I burned Maria's body, burned the rest of the army and found an immortal child in a hidden room. I don't think Jasper even knew of it's existence." Gaia clenches her eyes shut and Edward can see it's a troubled memory. He hates seeing her like this so he intertwined his hand with hers and squeezes her hand softly for support.
"I wanted to see if I could....I wouldn't say care for but I tried to find an alternative for the inevitable basically. I sat and tried to teach the child not to succumb to the blood lust but it wasn't possible. So I had to play with the child in a way were Theo willingly went into the flames. I couldn't burn him of my own will. You see, I don't believe in unnecessary violence and you're probably wondering why the Volturi Princess went alone to deal with a newborn army. Well I snuck out of the Castle." The slight giggle eases Edward's worry slightly.
"Theo willingly went into the flames and I made a small grave for him. I think it's still somewhere in Texas, I haven't visited in some time. It hurts too much. But after Theo, I sent out my confidants or spies to check up on Jasper, Peter and Charlotte. I was thankful that Jasper was with Alice and they were heading to you. Peter and Charlotte went north all the way to Canada to escape the horrors, I still keep an eye on them and I know Jasper does too. They are like my cousins. I think I actually have a soul-bond with them and I haven't met them. You would be shocked with the amount of bonds I have, the most my father has seen." Gaia's thumb slowly runs against the back of Edward's hand soaking in all of his comfort before he catches himself.
"You've been through so much yet they don't even know what you've done for them. If you didn't burn Maria, Jasper may have had to face her again and that child, he was an innocent and you tried to teach him knowing the inevitable. You are truly too good for this world princess." Edward's confession melts her heart slightly and she can't help but squeeze his hand. "Thank you Mr Mason. That truly means a lot coming from you. I do hope we can be friends but stay out of my head, it'll save you from pain if you stay out. I know you can do it." Her encouraging words only now made Edward realise he hasn't even attempted or heard any of her thoughts.
"You truly are a beautiful mystery Gaia." Edward mutters softly just relaxing back to the sounds of the forest.

Grimm Tales: A RWBY Story
Two years after losing everything, two sisters will try to rebuild the lives they one had, as well as mend the heartache left behind through their connection with the many strange cast of characters they meet, and the many strange story's they're caught up in. Grimm Tales is a RWBY fan fiction I wrote and illustrated from 2014 through 2016. Keep that in mind when experiencing the story and the art within it. Also keep in mind that this story is technically unfinished. I put this aside in October of 2016 after completing what you can call the "first season" of what was going to be a multipart series. Even though the entire story remains unfinished, things do end in a somewhat satisfactory manner.
