《Baby of the family》part 95

"God I'm knackered" Ant moaned as he slumped down next to Dec on the floor of the room where they were rehearsing, after yet another run through of the Let's Get Ready To Rhumble dance sequence.
"Me too" Dec nodded, while wiping sweat from his brow with the back of his hand "who's bright idea was this?"
"Er...yours I believe" Ant laughed.
"Well, next time I have a stupid idea like this, just give me a slap will you?" Dec joked.
"Oh,that will be my pleasure" Ant grinned.
"I think we're getting a bit old for these kind of dance routines now" Dec frowned.
"Or any kind of dance routines" Ant nodded.
"It's a lot faster than I remember" Dec sighed "or we've just got slower"
"Well,we're certainly not teenagers anymore" Ant pointed out "those PJ and Duncan days are long behind us"
"Thank God" Dec quipped.
"It'll be fine Dec" Ant announced confidently "we just need a bit more practice, the crowds are gonna love it"
"Yeah, they will" Dec grinned "that's what will make it all worthwhile.I'm so glad we've brought Saturday Night Takeaway back this year,it was definitely time"
"Yeah,it was" Ant agreed "and what a comeback it's turning out to be"
The series was already in full swing and the viewing ratings were through the roof. The Saturday Night Takeaway team had decided it would be great to get the cast of the television programme The Big Reunion on,where bands from the 1990s reunited.
It would be the perfect opportunity to bring PJ and Duncan back.
"This is it" Dec announced nervously to Ant once the day arrived and they stood backstage, awaiting their cue.
"Yep" Ant nodded "break a leg Decs"
"LET'S GET REEAAADY TO RHUUUUMBLE"
The familiar cry from almost twenty years ago boomed around the television studio, before Ant and Dec made their way onto the stage.
They performed perfectly, not missing a note or step and they immediately knew that all the hours they'd put into rehearsing, had been worthwhile.
The audience at home and in the studio loved it,singing and clapping along with many thirty somethings immediately being happily transported back to their teenage years for a few amazing minutes.
As the performance came to an end,Ant and Dec were visibly out of breath, but they'd done it and they were proud of themselves for that.
"Well done Decs" Ant smiled as the two of them got changed ready for the after show party.
"Well done to you too Ant" Dec replied "bloody brilliant wasn't it?"
"Yeah,it was" Ant grinned "I'll hand it to you Declan, that was a great idea, but please can you choose something less energetic next time?"
"Absolutely" Dec laughed "think I need to rest for a month after that, when did we get so old?"
"We're not old Dec" Ant replied "we're just not teenagers anymore and that just proved it,I loved it though"

"Me too" Dec nodded "and so did the audience by the look of it"
"Yeah" Ant smiled "come on,let's get to this party shall we?"
Ant and Dec were delighted when the viewing figures came in a couple of days later, the series was flying high and the amazing reviews and popularity of the PJ and Duncan performance was the icing on the cake.
The boys were surprised that the song was going to be re-released though due to people demanding to know where they could buy it.
It seemed PJ and Duncan now had a new army of fans who hadn't been around in the Byker Grove days.
"Got news for you two" Ali grinned during a meeting later on that week.
"Oh yeah?" Ant asked curiously "what's that then?"
"Looks like Let's Get Ready To Rhumble is set to go to number one in the charts this weekend" she laughed.
"What the hell...?" Dec shook his head playfully "what are these people thinking?"
"Wow,just think Decs" Ant smiled "you might just be getting that number one hit single that you yearned for so much back in the day"
"God,can you imagine?" Dec laughed "how weird would that be?"
"Just promise me one thing kidda?" Ant asked.
"What's that?" Dec enquired.
"That you won't cry and lock yourself in your bedroom this time if it doesn't make the number one spot?" Ant teased.
"Shut up you" Dec laughed "I'll try not to,can't promise anything though"
"Such idiots the pair of you" Ali grinned "you'll be happy with the royalties though even if it doesn't make number one"
"Never even thought about that" Dec frowned.
"Me neither" Ant muttered.
Ant and Dec looked at each other and gave a knowing nod, before turning back to Ali.
"Ali" Ant stated "neither of us need this money,we'd like to donate the proceeds to charity, will you deal with all that please?"
"Yes,of course" Ali smiled.
She wasn't surprised that the boys weren't interested in reaping the rewards from this, they were the two most kind and generous people she'd ever met.
"Er...which charity?" She enquired.
"Childline" Ant and Dec both stated in perfect unison, before grinning at each other.
They were patrons of the Childline charity,so it seemed to be the obvious choice.
"Consider it done" Ali smiled "so I'll call you at the weekend as soon as I hear what position the song has reached"
"Why don't you just come over Ali?" Ant invited "you'll know by Sunday right?"
"By Saturday I think,Sunday at the latest" Ali replied "then it will be broadcast on sunday evening"
"Come for sunday lunch then?" Ant smiled.
So a couple of days later,Ant,Dec,Ali and Lisa were sat around Ant and Lisas kitchen table, tucking into the delicious roast dinner that the couple had prepared.

Just as they finished off their meals,Alis phone rang.
Ali had decided she didn't want to know about where the song had reached in the charts until she was with the boys,so would be finding out at the same time as them, even though as their manager, she could have been informed the previous day.
She glanced from Ant to Dec with a big grin on her face, she was pretty sure she knew what the caller would say.
"Yes,ok,thank you" Ali wasn't giving anything away as she hung up.
"You're such a tease Alison Astall" Dec laughed "come on,out with it"
"Let's get ready to rhumble is number one" Ali announced gleefully.
"Yay,brilliant" Dec yelled out loudly.
"Finally got the number one you wanted eh Decs?" Ant grinned.
"Don't give me that" Dec replied "I know you wanted it just as badly as I did"
"Yeah, maybe I did" Ant laughed as he hugged Dec affectionately "we finally did it"
"Congratulations boys" Lisa smiled.
"Yeah,congratulations" Ali repeated.
"We need to celebrate this in style" Lisa announced "Ant,there's a bottle of champagne in the wine rack"
"It's not very cold though" Ant frowned as he pulled the bottle out.
"Doesn't matter" Dec smiled "stick it in the freezer for half an hour, that'll be ok"
"Congratulations boys" Lisa announced again a while later as they all clinked their champagne glasses together "you deserve it"
"Yeah, you do" Ali nodded "just shows that good things come to those who wait"
"Ha" Ant laughed "we certainly waited, nearly twenty years in fact"
"It's still amazing" Dec smiled "and Childline will be the ones to benefit from it"
"Quite right too" Ant beamed.
Everyone was delighted with the outcome as the afternoon turned into evening and the foursome happily listened to the announcement on the radio that they had the number one spot,it was a great feeling and everyone was happy as they all sang along to the song they'd put their heart and soul into as teenagers.
"I should go" Ali yawned later on in the evening "early start tomorrow"
"You're welcome to stay over Ali" Lisa smiled "we've got plenty of space"
"Thanks" Ali replied "but I'll get a taxi home, too much to do tomorrow and I know what you guys are like,if I stay any longer,I'll end up drinking until the early hours of the morning and be too hungover to get anything done tomorrow"
"Well,if you're sure?" Lisa asked.
"I'll walk you out" Dec announced as the taxi pulled up outside Ant and Lisas house fifteen minutes later.
They all said their goodbyes, hugging each other warmly with Dec and Ali thanking their hosts.
As Ant and Lisa started clearing away the mess from the day,Lisa had something on her mind.
"Have you noticed something about those two Ant?" She asked her husband.
"What do you mean?" Ant frowned "noticed what?"
"Well,I'm sure I detect a bit of a spark between them" Lisa smiled "haven't you?"
"Lisa" Ant laughed "where have you been the last few years?there's been a spark between them for a long time, have you only just realised?"
"Guess I have, but I don't see them together as often as you do" Lisa grinned "do you think anything will come of it?"
"Me and Dec have talked about it before, but he doesn't want things to become awkward with our manager if they get together and it doesn't work out.I wasn't keen on the idea either in the beginning for that exact reason, but I realised I was being selfish,I have no right to tell either of them who they can and can't see and I just want them both to be happy"
"They'd make such a cute couple" Lisa grinned "I noticed the little glances and smiles they were giving each other across the table and maybe even a bit of fluttering of eyelashes going on"
"Yeah and that was just from Dec" Ant laughed.
"You're such an idiot" Lisa smiled as she kissed her beloved husband on the cheek "good luck to them, that's what I say"
"They're still doing the valentines dinners most years" Ant informed her.
"Yeah,I know" Lisa sighed "they're so perfect for each other, just wish they'd see it"
"Almost perfect" Ant replied "but not totally"
"Why not?" Lisa frowned.
"Well" Ant winked "have you seen how much taller than Dec Ali is?"
"Come on" Lisa laughed "let's go to bed"
Unbeknownst to Ant and Lisa,Dec and Ali were having the exact same thoughts.
They knew the spark was there and had been for some time.
As Dec laid in bed that night,he couldn't sleep. He was replaying the day over and over in his mind.
What was it about Ali that appealed to him so much?why couldn't he get her out of his mind?not just today, but for a long time now.
Everything about her made him smile. Her personality, her sense of humour, her kindness, her long blonde hair,he'd always had a thing for blondes and of course,he found her incredibly attractive.
He could probably even deal with the fact she was taller than him as a lot of women were.
So he made a decision.
Now that he knew Ant would be fine with it,well he'd known that for a long time now,but had still never acted on it,he was wondering why he hadn't taken a chance with her before.
But now,he decided, what would life be if he didn't take the chance?hadn't his whole career revolved around taking chances?
Taking a chance on acting?on singing?on presenting?he and Ant had taken chances on all of those things and to say they'd been a resounding success would be an understatement.
So now it was time to take another chance.
Dec was going to ask Ali out!

Added a few more details to the life of Aarav and stuff like that. Might wanna take a look at it. P.S. - Guys this is my first story. I am trying to learn English better but since I don't have enough money for books, courses or tutors, so your criticism and support will have to do. This is my first time, so please be gentle.
