《Stranded》part 6

Dec was the first to wake the next morning,he grimaced as he realised that he and Ant were facing each other with probably no more than two inches between their faces.
"Ugh,you've got morning breath Ant" he muttered to himself,as he sat up and stared out to sea.
The only thing that he could then think about was that their second flare obviously hadn't been seen and he had a feeling of deflation like he'd never experienced before.
No smiling faces to greet him,no warm drinks,no boats,no ships,no helicopters...no rescue party.
Although he knew in reality, that they obviously would have been woken if anyone had turned up.
So,he didn't really know why a lone tear made it's way down his cheek,he could only guess that it was the realisation of the enormity of his and Ants situation.
What if they were never rescued?what if this was it for them now?what if this island would be their home for the rest of their lives?
Dec quickly wiped his face before Ant woke up and saw him crying yet again.
He knew he was being ridiculous, after all, they'd only been there for two nights and he was already imagining that they were going to be marooned there forever.
"You're an idiot Declan" he muttered to himself.
"Hmm?" Ant rolled over onto his back, having been awoken from his light sleep by Decs mumbling.
"Morning Anthony" Dec smiled down at his yawning pal.
"Alright Decs" Ant replied,as he pushed himself up onto his elbows "did ya get any sleep?"
"A bit" Dec nodded "how about you?"
"Yeah" Ant replied "not bad considering"
Ant then glanced around the beach from one end to the other.
"Still just us then?" He sighed.
"Unfortunately so" Dec frowned.
"Guess we need to have a more productive day today then?" Ant stated.
"Guess so" Dec replied glumly.
"Decs" Ant smiled "please tell me you're not starting off the day in a mood?"
"No,of course not" Dec lied, quickly realising his usual huffiness wasn't going to get him anywhere "sorry"
"Come on pet" Ant encouraged "let's plan our day"
"Ok" Dec replied, happy that they'd actually have something to do other than than stare out to sea "what shall we do?"
"Well" Ant grinned as he got up from the sand and started to shake and fold the blanket "how about we start with breakfast?"
"Ooh,what's on the menu?" Dec joked "I fancy a full English"
"I'm afraid we've run out of those sir" Ant laughed "can I make another suggestion that may be to sirs satisfaction?"

"Bacon sandwich?" Dec grinned.
"We're totally out of bacon sandwiches too I'm afraid sir" Ant said.
"Which greedy bastards ate all the bacon sandwiches?" Dec asked in pretend horror.
"I believe it may have been the other inhabitants of this beautiful island" Ant replied "they're pretty elusive though,I've never seen them"
"Boiled egg and soldiers then?" Dec smiled,he was happy to keep this silly game going just for something to do.
"I'm afraid not sir" Ant replied "may I tell sir the specials?"
"Go on then" Dec winked.
"Well" Ant continued, after placing the blanket and Andys jacket that they had used as a pillow in a neatly folded pile under a tree.
"We have these delicious, delicate potato slices if sir would like to sample one?" he stated,as he pulled the packet of crisps from the bag "in a subtle flavour of sea salt with a hint of vinegar"
"Idiot" Dec by now was laughing hysterically at Ants antics.
"Oh,I assure you sir" Ant smiled "there is nothing idiotic about this fine delicacy, they are much sought after in every corner of the globe"
"Is that a fact?" Dec giggled.
"Oh,it certainly is sir" Ant replied "sadly,we only have one flavour available right now in our fine establishment, but I would definitely recommend sampling the cheese and onion and smoky bacon varieties at the first possible opportunity, they go perfectly with a nice, cold glass of champagne"
"Yeah,I bet they do" Dec grinned.
"So I take it sir would like to try our beautiful potato slices?" Ant enquired playfully.
"Go on then" Dec smiled "I'll try some"
"Excellent sir" Ant replied, before opening the packet and dishing out a handful of crisps to each of them.
"I love ya Ant" Dec laughed "ya know that right?you always know how to make me laugh and cheer me up"
"Happy to oblige sir" Ant grinned,as they both tucked into their crisps.
"I guess we should try and make a fire today?" Dec suggested.
"Yeah" Ant nodded,as he finished his last crisp "and build a shelter of some kind maybe"
"Maybe" Dec nodded "but don't you think we should explore the island first?see if we can find some fruit or something somewhere?"
"Yeah, good point" Ant replied "and as long as it doesn't rain, shelter can wait"
"Would be warmer at night though if we had some kind of cover" Dec pointed out,as he stood up and brushed crisp crumbs off from his shorts, not noticing that he had dropped one whole crisp until Ant quickly picked it up and popped it into his mouth.

"True" Ant smiled "but we'll survive one more day without it"
"Hey" Dec said, feeling suddenly unreasonably angry "did you just eat one of my crisps?"
"Yeah" Ant shrugged "didn't think you would notice or mind"
"You didn't think I'd mind?" Dec retorted "we're bloody starving here and you thought it was ok to eat MY crisp?"
"Alright Decs" Ant sighed "calm down will ya?here, you can have another one from the packet"
Ant passed the now half eaten bag of crisps to Dec.
"Don't want them now" Dec snapped childishly.
"Declan" Ant smiled gently "you can't keep getting so upset about such trivial things, you're gonna make an already difficult situation much harder if you keep being so temperamental over little things,I'm sorry ok?now can we please forget about it?"
"Fine" Dec snapped in a sarcastically unforgiving manner "better go and find this fruit then hadn't we?"
"Yeah" Ant rolled his eyes at Decs ridiculousness, although he was careful to make sure Dec didn't notice.
"We only have Andys water left" Ant frowned,I've finished mine and you've finished yours haven't you?"
"Yeah,I have" Dec replied.
Ant glanced over to Andys half full big bottle of water.
"We need to tip some of that into our small bottles, then we won't be tempted to drink it all at once" Ant mused.
"Ok" Dec nodded as he obediently started to transfer some of the water from Andys bottle into his.
He was now beginning to feel a bit silly over his little outburst and tried to make it up to Ant in any small way he possibly could.
"Pass me your bottle" Dec beckoned to Ant "and I'll fill it up for you"
"Thanks" Ant smiled "er...Decs?"
"Yeah" Dec replied without looking up from his water transferring task.
"You've been going to the loo by that tree haven't you?" Ant enquired, nodding towards one of the trees on the edge of the forest.
"Yeah, why?" Dec looked up curiously "you have too haven't you?"
"Yeah,I have" Ant nodded "but something just crossed my mind"
"What's that?" Dec asked curiously.
"Well" Ant continued "remember when Carol Thatcher pissed in camp in the jungle?"
"God yeah" Dec laughed, remembering what was to become known as 'weegate' amongst her fellow campmates "what about it?"
"Well, remember they said it will attract the bugs" Ant pointed out "just think we maybe need to go further into the forest to do it"
"Ok" Dec shrugged, not thinking that was a big deal at all.
"I'm assuming you haven't been for a...you know?..." Ant smiled.
"A number two?" Dec offered helpfully.
"Yeah,a number two" Ant repeated.
"No,I haven't needed to yet" Dec replied "not actually thought about it"
"I haven't needed to either" Ant frowned "but it's gonna happen sooner or later"
"Not on the tiny amount of food we're living on it won't" Dec mumbled.
"Well" Ant ignored Decs sarcasm "I guess we're gonna have to build a toilet"
"What?" Dec exclaimed "how the hell are we gonna do that?"
"Dunno" Ant shrugged.
"Can't we just poo in the sea?" Dec asked.
"Ugh no" Ant screwed his face up in disgust "for one, that's gross and secondly,it'll just wash back up on the shore anyway"
"Ok,fair point" Dec agreed.
"I guess we'll just have to dig a hole and bury it when the time comes" Ant suggested.
"Ridiculous" Dec stated.
"You got a better idea then?" Ant snapped.
"No,I didn't mean the hole" Dec quickly replied "I meant this whole situation is ridiculous,us having to poo in a hole in the ground"
"Yeah,it is ridiculous" Ant laughed "but you know, needs must,we've got to do what we can"
"True" Dec smiled "ready to go then?"
"Yeah" Ant replied "I wish I had something other than bloody flip flops to wear on my feet though"
"Me too" Dec frowned "I have a feeling our feet might get cut to shreds in there today"
"Ugh,that doesn't bear thinking about" Ant grimaced as he finished covering himself in suncream "Wish I knew how to make shoes out of wood"
"That'll just be one more thing for our 'to do' list then won't it?" Dec smirked "build a shelter,a toilet and some shoes"
"Yeah,it's a growing list alright" Ant laughed "come on then"
The two men made their way into the forest armed with nothing more than their water bottles.
It wasn't easy pushing their way through the overgrown bushes, trees and long grass, but their determination to find something to eat kept them going and after the best part of an hour,Dec spotted something
"Over there" he squealed excitedly as he noticed a tree bearing fruit.
"Oh my God" Ant joined in the excitement "well done Decs, what kind of tree is it?"
"Well, let's take a closer look" Dec beamed.
They suddenly found a burst of energy as they were so keen to get to the tree, running energetically and not slowing down until they were standing right in front of it.
"That's some weird looking fruit" Dec stated as he peered at the tree.
"Yeah" Ant sighed with a heavy heart "don't you recognise it?"
Dec took a closer look at the green, bumpy fruits that the tree was bearing.
"No,I don't think so" he frowned.
"Declan" Ant stated bluntly.
"That's vomit fruit!"

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.

DarkBoi69's mediocre, rushed and badly-written aventure
Follow DarkBoi69's edgy adventure as I move him through a shitty plot where he meets terribly-written characters like angry evil stupid villains and naive cute useless busty women. This story is not really an actual serious story but simply a writing exercise for me to focus on overall writing speed, forcefully insert some writing in my everyday life to increase productivity and most importantly help with turning ideas, thoughts or feelings into writing directly without feeling blocked, hopefully trying to achieve something as close as possible to writing unconsciously what i’m thinking about. I'll probably try to do something like writing as much in 30 mins as I can, nearly every-day. So far I've only done this once and it already seems like a pretty good thing to do. I don’t have anything planned and that’s probably going to be a constant for every one of these exercises, so it’ll end up being not very good (although maybe better than it has any right to be? ) and nonsensical.
