After getting up to patrol the area for intruders, our bull Tyrannosaurus, had consistently put scent marks around the perimeters of their territory.
He sniffed about his surroundings before spotting a familiar silhoulhette moving across the foliage.
He eyes the stranger suspiciously, watching his every move.
It was the mysterious, and the same Spinosaurus from his early days as a young adult, and from when his mother was murdered years ago.
He was back. And much more worse than usual. The humans had somehow brought him back. To life. Using DNA from the original Shredder's skeleton and cloned another one. Only this one was much more dangerous.
His pupils widened at the sight of the monstrous dinosaur, who walked past behind the foliage of the trees.
"I'm in a nightmare." He murmured.
He continues to watch the intruding Spinosaurus warily as he disappears from sight. Knowing that meant trouble. And as he returned from patrol, his mate began to stare at him, tilting her head curiously as to what's with the strange, frozen look on his face.
Rexy: "What's wrong, babe? Someone out there we don't know about?"
Crusher sighed. "Unfortunately, Rexy, you don't know him, but I do. He is my rival, and was the one behind the murder of my mother and one of my siblings. I fully intend to kill him myself. I've beaten him once, and I will do so again."
He sighed again. "I just want to spare our hatchlings the pain of what I have went through when I was their age and size. And for them to live a normal life. Within every fiber of my being, I would even consider sacrificing myself if need be."
Rexy didn't like the idea, though she tried to talk him out of it.
"Babe, you know that whoever he is, he has come back much stronger and more dangerous than the last time you guys fought. I don't want to lose the one I love dearly. I've haven't dealt with anything like that because I was the only T-Rex in my former home. And no competition like that before. I know you've been through a lot and had to fend for yourself when you were very young."

The queen continues to plead with her mate, as if he was contemplating suicide against his childhood enemy.
"Crusher, you know you can't win this. It's suicide."
Crusher rumbled with irritation and slight anger, though controlling it for a while now.
"His death is all that matters now, and I do not want anyone else to pay for my mistakes. I only intend to finish this personally, because I don't intend to go through that hell again."
Rexy nods, though she was hoping that he knows what he's doing.

Weeks had passed since the incident at the Lockwood estate, dinosaurs now ruled the planet, the western side of the world.
Our Tyrannosaurus family and their Tarbosaurus neighbors had managed to coexist pretty well, with no trouble from others so far.
As their hatchlings played with one another, the parents were just spending a lot of time with each other.
Rexy and her mate were asleep as the Tarbosaurus parents babysat the hatchlings that played about, doing what they do.
Crusher snored loudly continuously, and began to dream about his younger years as a hatchling.
It brought him back in time to when his mother died defending him and his siblings from a nasty and deadly Spinosaurus, which was Shredder himself, though he had avenged his mother's murder years later as an adult.
He watched as his mother was killed in cold blood as her body slammed to the ground.
Life wasn't the same for him anymore since then.
"Crusher! Crusher! Wake up!" Rexy nudged her sleeping mate, who was sleepily muttering in his sleep.
Only to snap out of it later on with a gasp.
Finally opening his eyes, he looked around, and noticed that everything was apparently the same as normal.
Only to turn and look at his mate, who was staring at him worriedly.

"You okay, babe? You look like you were dreaming about something. Is something wrong?" Rexy asked.
Crusher just shrugged it off, ignoring it.
"Rexy, it's fine. Just nothing."
Rexy didn't believe it, but sternly and calmly asked him again.
"Are you sure, hon'? Don't lie to me. Be honest."
Crusher growls with a sigh.
"I had a dream that took me back to when I was a hatchling, very young. And watched my mother die from my soon to be arch rival, Shredder the Spinosaurus. Though back on your island, formerly, the raptors and myself got rid of him, avenging the loss of my mother, which was years later as an adult when we first met. All this happened back on Sorna, my birthplace.- - She is the grandmother of our hatchlings by far."
Rexy nuzzled him, letting out a soft, gentle purr.
"Yes, she pretty much is."
An uttered rumble was heard from Crusher's throat, concealing that bad dream he experienced earlier.
Rexy continues to nuzzle her mate, in an attempt to calm his anxiety down a bit.
Crusher nuzzles back, though albeit slowly, his conscience replaying the same nightmares from earlier.
Their hatchlings were playing about for a while now, only to come back to their parents, to which they caught their mother and father being affectionate with each other.
They stopped to turn and look at their precious little ones, their faces turned bright red.
Nellie, their daughter, began to curiously chirp at her mother, opening and closing her mouth thrice now, meaning food.
Crusher nudged playfully at his queen, who giggled slightly.
"I think she wants you to go hunt for her meal today, hon'."
Rexy giggled even more, nudging him back. "If she wants it today, then I will go fetch her something to eat, look after our babies, will you, babe?"
Crusher smiled and nuzzles her muzzle.
"I promise. Just be careful for me out there, okay, babe?"
Rexy nuzzles back, before pecking the male on the face with a kiss.
"I will. Love you, babe."
"Love you too. Stay safe." Crusher called out as the queen of Isla Nublar left to hunt for prey.
Shredder was silently watching Rexy from afar, knowing that both the king and queen love one another very much, and fully intends to kill off both of them, intending to finish what he started.
Though the Nanotyrannus silently snuck into the territory of the Tyrannosaurus, he knew that it was a bad idea, because one adult was gone, the other was staying behind to guard the nest.
Nellie sniffed the air, then chirping at her father, that there is another intruder, but an albeit smaller one and much more faster.
Her father rose up to go check and investigate, ordering her to stay behind him and guard her siblings, even her older brother.
The bull T-Rex looked around, there was no one around initially, until a Nanotyrannus decides to foolishly pick the wrong place at the wrong time to fight the much bigger and more stronger adult.
Crusher snorts in annoyance.
'I doubt he will do anything. He won't be a problem.' He thought.

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/

The Other - a (man) called Ted
A figure, large and present through time in ways most would not understand. Seemingly uncaring about all except his own principles, the one we refer to as the Other (for legitimate reasons, lest some accidentally call upon his old name), finds his way through life. Though refusing to claim the title himself, this (immortal)'s projects have begun to leave him behind, awaiting some accident to move him back into the world. - - - - - - Initially intended to be a novella, then a project to keep me sane in busy times IRL, this will be considered the roughest of drafts. Also, IRL may prevent me from regular updates after the backlog is done. Tags with a grain of salt, items may be mentioned briefly in story so far, or in chapters already written but not published. Content warnings just in case. Some perspective switching in the first several chapters. Legitimately though, in the first chapters an explanation is provided for referencing to the MC as 'the Other.'
