chapter thirty three
"shes so fucking delusional," tatum laughed to himself, shaking his head.
he had to give it to her, she had placed him under a temporary shock. no one was ever able to do this to him before, and he was disgusted by it. he was disgusted with himself for the way he was treating the girl, but he couldn't stop. the anger in which lingered in his body left him with nothing more than rage for the situation, and all he wanted to do was hurt somebody. now, obviously, if he hurt someone he would go to jail, therefore saying goodbye to his sweet little lydia and their life together. and obviously he wasn't going to put his hands on someone who hadn't wronged him, which left him with lydia.
tatum shook his head at the thought. he wasn't going to hurt his little, he just couldn't. she was too precious for him, too precious for this world. he couldn't dream of ever laying a finger on her, and he would stick to that. no matter what.
as he sped briskly down his residential road, he suddenly came to an abrupt stop, followed by the tires on his jet black sedan squealing loudly against the cement. before his vehicle came to a complete stop, he was rapidly scrambling his right hand across the passenger seat in desperate search of his phone. and before he knew it, he had it. the boy sickly chuckled to himself as he opened an app under the name of "" the app in which controlled the tracker to lydias car that he had placed in her vehicle a day before.
on the other hand, lydia could do nothing but smile to herself. she drove alongside the unknown curvy road with a fast pace, not leaving any time for tatum to be able to catch up to her. she really couldn't do anything more than smile, as her brain felt as though it was so excited it would explode. she was proud of herself, very proud of herself. her brain travelled to the thought of tatum being very large compared to her, and she couldn't help but replay the situation in her mind so she could be sure that she actually overpowered him. she never thought she would be able to find a time that she could be alone without the boy and his dark energy leaning over her.
lydia really didn't even know that she was kidnapped, in fact. in her mind, a friend had brought her to his house and simply didn't want her to leave. that's the difference from lydia and tatum, lydia didn't understand. this was an upper hand for tatum, as he could almost make her do whatever he wanted as long as he said it with a friendly tone. in fact, tatum couldn't thank raya more for guarding and sheltering her daughter so much. lydia knew nothing. raya also didn't do a very good job teaching lydia emergency skills such as being taken against her will before, which also helped tatum.

once lydias head cleared from the situation that was currently taking place, she was faced with a four way turn in front of her. there were no other cars in lydias sight, which caused her to slightly drop her shoulders. she didn't know where she was. she wanted nothing more than to find a car along the road that would be able to tell her where she is or even how to get home, but she had come to the conclusion that it made sense that no one was out at in the morning.
the girls heart began to race as she recognized that she couldn't sit here for too long, otherwise she would be giving tatum the upper hand to catch up to her. so, on a split decision she decided to take a right. and although it was a split decision for her, it was the right one. as she drove unknowingly down the narrow road, the trees swaying as she passed, she continued to think amongst herself.
"fuck." tatum thought to himself as he made eye contact with his gas gauge. he needed to get gas, and he cursed himself for previously allowing himself to drive home with an almost empty tank.
"its fucking lydia," his mind began accusing. it was always lydia, surrounding his brain constantly. his decision making was severely foggy at all times, and although he recognized this, he couldn't do anything to stop it. she was his favorite thing to think about as she calmed his mind more frequently than not. her sweet aura was always lingering, and he almost felt as though she was some sort of angel. maybe even a guardian angel, he didn't know. tatum sighed as he began to make his way to the gas station, annoyed at the set back in finding his little.
"do you know how to get to centerfield?" lydia asked the man next to her at the red light.
"of course, the freeway entrance is in the left lane, make a u-turn and get on the freeway. then take the highway straight, and drive until you see the big green centerfield sign. good luck, miss." the kind man directed her, beginning to drive off as the light turned red.
lydia quickly thanked the man before sighing a soft "okay" to herself. she had been driving for nearly an hour at that point, and she was slowly becoming familiar with her surroundings as she continued to take a pattern of left and rights that she had somehow seemed to memorize. she didn't really have any certain feelings about what she was doing, and she was rather confused as to why she wasn't overly excited to go back home. she was nervous of what her mother would say to her, what if raya didn't believe her?

as she made her way further and further down the freeway, her memory started to recall of where she was currently and how to get home from there. however, along with that, her memory began to recall the memories of driving down this highway with tatum. it felt like forever ago to her, although she really didn't know how long she had been with him, anyway. she had no emotion towards the thoughts and memories flowing back, either. it was almost as if she felt numb, and she couldn't figure out quite why.
"how the fuck does she even know where she's going?" tatum angrily yelled to himself, taking a swig from the bottle of vodka he had purchased from the gas station. he knew it wasn't the greatest of ideas to drink as he drove, but tatum didn't care. his mind was fueled by an angry rage, and his vision felt blurry. the only thing he seemed to be doing perfectly was checking lydias location, pushing his car up to the hundreds in attempt to catch up with her. he wouldn't be able to in time, but he didn't know that.
without second thought, lydia quickly and excitedly pulled into her neighborhood. she knew the neighbors would be calling her mother about the way she was driving right now, but she didn't mind it all that much. she was sure her mother wouldn't either, as she would be more fixated on where her daughter had been and how she got home. she felt strangely excited to inform her family on where she had been, as it almost seemed like a silly made up story.
as she pulled into her homes driveway, she immediately unbuckled her seatbelt followed up by practically jumped out of her vehicle. she took no time to take in her surroundings that she had missed so bad, and she definitely didn't take the time to turn her car off. she was too suddenly excited, and she felt as though no one could take that from her.
as she quickly approached the front door to her home, she was taken aback by the locked door in front of her. her family never really locked the doors in the house, as they lived in a very upper class area and little to no crime ever occurred. she hesitantly rung the doorbell, which was shortly followed up by the sound of hesitant footsteps.
"lydia?" a sleepy deep voice rang, causing lydia to immediately lift her head from the ground.
"oh hello river, what are you doing here? are my parents home?" she asked as she held a confused but kind expression.
"no they aren't, i'm watching the house for them until thursday." he stated, as he began opening the door for lydias entrance.
she entered quickly as it was rather cold outside, before river made a step directly in front of her small body.
"you left your car on, little one." he tiredly stated, moving himself from in front of her to turn the vehicle off for her.
lydia sighed, as the term reminded her of tatum. she mumbled a thank you, of course, but she wasn't thankful for the name. was there really nothing else that anyone noticed besides her size?
"what happened?" the boy asked, locking the car from the doorway with the keys he had collected.
when lydia didn't answer and instead looked at him in confusion, he made a swift gesture towards her face.
"oh, i'm not sure." she quickly came up with. she didn't want to tell river about what had happened, as she had very barely known him. she had met him the day that tatum first took her home with him, in fact. she never saw him again since then for obvious reasons, so she didn't feel like sharing something that wasn't that big of a deal. just an obsessive friend, she thought of it as nothing too major to tell a stranger.
"you look scared, come here." he said in a tired and raspy voice. she would question the tiredness nature of his behavior, but she had kept in mind that it was around five o'clock in the morning.
before she could answer with a kind decline, the tall boy wrapped his arms loosely around her waist. although she wasn't as comfortable as she'd wanted to be, she wasn't uncomfortable. the warmth of his body felt relaxing to her, as she was not used to such a gentle and relaxing gesture. she didn't know the boy, but she appreciated his carefulness.
lydia gently placed her small hand on his lower back, having the friendliest of intentions. she never had ill intentions, and at this time, neither did river. though he was sleepily dazed, he knew exactly who he was up close with. he really enjoyed lydias energy from the first time he met her at his own home, but sleeping in her room has brought this feeling more erratic.
was said quietly next to them by an unknown presence, along with the faint sound of a click.
