i'm shivering

as i wait for you

the cold is unkind

to strangers like me

i look at my watch

to remind myself of the time

you were late

but i can wait

still the freezing breeze was

unforgiving

it bore right through me

as i waited for you

the passersby would sometimes

greet me and ask me why

i was standing here in the cold

i just replied with a smile

saying that i was just waiting for a friend

knowing that you'll come soon

right? of course you will

i was shivering again

but much more erratic

still i waited for you

i looked at my watch again

it was 9:00 PM

when you said that you would come at 2:00 PM

the night grew more dark

as the sun had set and the moon had risen

nonetheless i noticed that i was alone now

the friendly passersby who once greeted me

were probably fast asleep

still i waited for you

to come anytime now
