"Just stay quiet, I don't want to hear a single word from you. Got it?" I asked

"Why can't I speak?" Adam pouted

"Because you haven't been introduced to tik tok yet so you're obvious to the human lifestyle, until then you'll just look really weird doing anything" I said

"I do too know about the human lifestyle" Adam said with furrowed brows

"You tried to eat the grass yesterday" I said sternly

"I didn't know it was grass, it looked like sea weed and it was just as delicious" He smiled

"Ugh God save me" I groaned and sunk further into my seat

"Is he living with you now?" A voice said, I pressed the volume button on the car speaker

Allie and Josie were currently on a phone call with me, they had to sneak out of the building to help me plan

It was currently the day of Beverly's first competition and I was supposed to be on a plane heading to Tokyo, but there's no way in heaven, hell or earth that I'd miss this. It was special to her, it was something that made her happy, she's worked so hard to get here and she deserved to have her girlfriend in the stands cheering her on.

So I did what I had to do and cancelled the trip, I could tell that Kat was angry and frustrated because there was an important meeting that I had to attend but she understood where I was coming from.

Beverly's special, sure my job is great too but she's the one I found first, and I was dedicated on always being there for her.

And a bonus included seeing her in that short mini skirt. Whew chile.

"I can't just kick him out on the streets, he'll start hell on land" I groaned

"Imagine a wild, horny and oblivious Mermaid being loose on land, now why does that sound familiar? Hmmmm" Allie hummed

"Oh shut up" I rolled my eyes

"Do you really want me to? Because I could just walk back into there and ruin your surprise" Allie said, I could tell that she was smirking

"I swear to God, I will ruin your life if you did that" I said sternly

"Ugh dumbass, I need deets!" I hissed

"Okay so the doors are closed, I'll stick a rock in it to leave it open, they go on in ten minutes, how far away are you?" Josie asked

"Goddamit" I groaned

"It's gonna take atleast forty minutes for us to get there" I groaned

"Why didn't you leave earlier?" Allie asked

"Because I was still stuck at the office with Kat, there was some crazy shit that went down and I had to buy clothes for Prince Charming over here" I rolled my eyes

"Ugh fuck, the intermission is over, we have to go" Allie groaned

"Try to get here as soon as you can" Josie said

"I'll be there, I promise" I assured

"Bye Aqua, safe drive" the girl's said, the call was then dropped and my eyes met Ameer's through the mirror

"STEP ON IT AMEER" I yelled

"Yes ma'am" The brown skinned man chuckled, the car then revved to life as the speed increased from 80 to 120mph

"What is this torture device that we're in?" Adam asked, I glanced over to the boy that was strapped down by three seatbelts

What? Don't look at me like that, it's nothing kinky. He just wouldn't stay still and was afraid that the car was gonna fly into space and his brains would get sucked out and used for scientific research.

I probably shouldn't have let him watch those alien documentaries at 1am...

"It's a car" I answered

"What's a car?" she asked as he tilted his head, confused.

"It's a machine that helps us get around faster than walking" I said, a smile stretched across my lips as I remembered the day I asked Beverly this question

"Why not fly?" he asked

"Have you ever seen a fish fly Adam?" I asked

"No... "

"Exactly" I laughed

"There's other machines for they, it's called an airplane, it's highly expensive to travel in"

"Why is it expensive?" he asked

"Money is needed to run the world, people forget about love and kindness. But we can't blame them, labour doesn't come free. Energy and time needs to be spent and that comes with a cost" I said

"Oh.... What's money?" He asked, I almost face palmed

"ARE WE THERE YET AMEER?!" I groaned

"Almost there Miss" the driver laughed

"Where exactly are we headed to?" Adam questioned.

"My girlfriend's first Cheer competition" I grinned, the man furrowed his brows and tilted his head.

"You seem happy when you mentioned her" Adam said

"She makes me happy" I answered

"Really? What does that feel like?" he asked, somehow a pinch pulled at my heart.

"You don't know what being happy feels like?" I asked

"No" Adam mumbled

"Oh... Um... It's this.. This feeling you get" I said

"What feeling?" he asked

"Happiness is an absence of all negative emotions, our love, and the presence of any positive one, that's why joy comes in so many wonderful flavours. Happiness is in the moment, the more focused the more intense, like a beam of light to the soul. And just as with well focused light, it is then we find better resolution" I said, the man nodded in response

"I've never actually felt that feeling. Growing up, my father always forced me to do whatever he said. He wanted a warrior, a soldier. Which I guess he failed at because I'm literally strapped down to a seat with this strong material humans call a seatbelt" Adam laughed, I couldn't help but smile when I saw him struggle a bit

"I still wait for the day when I can show the small beauties of life to someone, but there are no fools like me in this vast world. Perhaps they exist, yet they must be distant, enjoying the same sky with other eyes yet the same thought" Adam said, my entire body seemed to relax by his words

A comfortable silence fell over us, our slight smiles made it known that we didn't need to speak. It was only in that moment did I realize that Adam wasn't such a bad person. Sure when we met, it wasn't on good terms

I was being married off to the man for fuck sakes, but now that I'm actually spending some time with him, I guess I'm actually starting to understand why he does the things he do

"Why did you act like that on our wedding day?" I asked

"Like what?"

"I don't know, self centered, naive... Braggy?" I mumbled

"I was nervous, I was only told that you were pretty. I hated the idea of arranged marriages, it's really unfair. I'd like to know my wife's personality before she even turns into my wife. I got nervous when I first saw you and started talking like a blow fish, I didn't make a good first impression and I'm sorry about that" Adam mumbled

"Apology accepted" I chuckled

"I understand where you're coming from, I guess both of our fathers think they can control our lives just because they're our parents"

"Right? The same energy they spend into creating our future, they could have used and be apart of our lives, so that we'll want them in our future" Adam groaned

"I literally understand everything you're saying" I chuckled

"it's nice to have someone who can relate. I'm not even allowed to speak to the guards" Adam said

"Why the hell wouldn't you be allowed to speak to the guards?!" I asked

"My father said it shows leadership, a man of higher power shouldn't waste his time or energy on those below us, or whatever the hell my father says" Adam rolled her eyes

"That man is pretty fucked up" I said

"Tell me about it" Adam groaned and rolled his eyes

"Um... Ma'am, we have a problem" Ameer said, I furrowed my brows and leaned over to the driver's seat

"I think it's two YouTubers, now the accident blocked up traffic for three miles away... I don't think we can make it Ms Aphrodite" Ameer mumbled

"Dammit" Adam mumbled, I furrowed my brows and shook my head in disbelief

"No. There's no fucking way I'm not making it" I mumbled

The ringing alarm came through the car's speaker. Josie and Allie's voice sounded through the Bluetooth

"AQUA, ARE YOU OKAY?!" Allie yelled

"There's this accident on the road-"

"Yeah and we're stuck in traffic" I groaned

"Aqua's about to go on in a few, you can't make it?" Josie mumbled

"I- I guess not-"

"No. You're gonna make it" Adam said, I furrowed my brows at the boy

"How?" I asked, he leaned over and whispered something in my ear, a plan that just might work
