Narrator's pov

"Okay okay, fine I'll go with you" Megan chuckled

"Yaaayyy" Aqua squealed as she wrapped her arms around the girl's neck, pulling her close

Megan could feel her heart skip a beat by having Aquamarine's body so close to her own. She closed her eyes and sighed into the embrace, holding the girl's back

"You know where the guards are?" Aqua asked

"Yes"

"Good, then you'll lead us out of this" Aqua said and Megan nodded in response

"There's two guards down the hall, we should turn left and swim as fast as we can so they won't expect anything" Megan said

"Got it, right behind ya" Aqua said as she made her way towards the door

The two girl's head stuck out from the door frame as they glanced down the hall, only to see three guards hovering on the left and two on the right

"Shit, change of plans" Aqua groaned

"I'll distract them while you make your way into the maid's quarters"

"Got it" Aqua said as she pulled back into the room slightly so Megan could leave without anyone noticing she was free from chains

Megan took a deep breath in as she glanced around the hallway. It was the first time she was going to do something against the rules of her own mind, she wasn't a risk taker but this was no time to be timid.

"Hey you!" Megan called out as she swam down the hallway

The five guards all turned their necks towards her and they raised a brow

"Who are you talking to Megan?" someone asked

"All of you" Megan said

"I didn't even know she could speak" a guard laughed

"Well I could do alot more than that" Megan said loudly, she almost cringed at her own words but she needed to get a distraction

"Oh?" the guards asked as she started to swim closer towards her

"But you won't find out because my heart and body belongs to another" Megan said, her eyes barley glanced in the direction of the door frame to see Aqua giving her a thumbs up

"And who is this Merman?" they asked as they crossed their and against their broad shoulders, trying to look like rough men with pride

"You don't need to worry about that, but I have a message for you all" she said

"Do tell"

"The king, we wants a head guard. Someone to have his back each flap of the way. So he sent me here to send the message. He wants all of the guards to gather in the garden so he can pick his right hand Merman" Megan lied

To say that Aqua was impressed was an understatement, her eyes went wide as she nodded to herself.

"Are you kidding me? You should have lead with that! I'm out of here!" a guard yelled as he dashed away, heading right towards the courtyard

"Hurry away, he said the earlier the better" Megan said

The Merman's eyes bulged out of their sockets as they all lowered their shoulders, swimming fast down the hallway, bumping into each other as they fought to reach the exit of the castle, heading towards the court yard

"Well damn Megan, who would have thought" Aqua laughed as she came out of her room

"Thank you, it was the first time I ever lied" Megan chuckled, causing Aqua to furrow her brows

"Are you serious?"

"yes"

"What the- I'm sorry you had to lie" Aqua pouted

"Don't worry about it, let's get you away from here" Megan said as she started to head down the hallway

The two girls swam down the hallway, their tails rising and falling at a rapid speed and they dashed through the molasses water, leaving trails of bubbles behind them

Aqua's hands reached a door and she shoved it open, only to enter the room where they kept armour. The walks were brown and watched the colour if the tiled diamond floor. On the wall held pairs of swords, sharp and ready to slice through any flesh.

A broken chandelier dangled from the top of the roof, it was rusting to dust from the age it had been underwater

"Where to next?" Aqua asked

"It's going to be risky"

"Just tell me"

"Well... The only place that doesn't have any guards would be the ballroom" Megan said

"My father is always in there"

"He used to be. Now he's usually in his room or in the courtyard, which is exactly where his guards will be now so we have to hurry" Megan said as she swam towards the brown door

"May Lucifer be with me" Aqua groaned as she followed after the girl

They dashed through past the door and pressed their backs against the wall, using their head to lean out into the wide ballroom

Indeed, there was no one around.

"Yes!" Aqua hissed and dashed out into the room

"Aqua wait!" Megan yelled and reached her arm out but it was too late

"Where do you think you're going?" a voice rang through the entire room

A powerful feeling took over Aquamarine's body as she all control, the blood in her veins felt as if it was turning to mush as a stinging pain reached her throat

Her bottom lip quivered as her body was being moved and pressed against the wall by an imaginary force.

Her father emerged from behind the door with almost a hundred guards, their eyes were narrowed and dark towards the girl. The king's long grey hair glowed with the water as he came closer towards Aqua's face

"L-Let go-Go of me!" Aqua tried to let out

"How did you even get out of that room" The man hissed

Aqua's eyes drifted to Megan who hid behind the door, fear was written all over her face. Aqua sighed and slight shook her head, telling the girl to leave.

"I have my ways" Aqua said as she faced her father once again

"You really think that my guards would all gather around in the courtyard and not set off red flags? Did you really think you could escape again and run off to land?"

"Hm Kinda yeah, that was the plan" Aqua smirked

Her father's face grew red with anger as he dashed forward to her

"You're not going anywhere Aquamarine!"

"Why would I want to stay here with you? A killer? I should be dead because of you" Aqua shrugged

"I-"

"Yeah, speak up and tell me what a great father you are. Tried to fucking kill his daughter twice"

"If I wanted to kill you then I'd already have you dead" the man hissed

"Well that's assuring" Aqua rolled her eyes

"Don't give me that smart mouth Aqua!"

"I got it from my mama"

"Aquamarine!"

"Yes daddy?" She smirked

The man's eyes rolled back in frustration as he buried his face in his palms, running his fingers through his hair

"Why can't you just listen and do what I tell you to?" he mumbled to himself

"Because that's not how life works"

"That's how it worked with my parent-"

"For fuck sakes father, this isn't the 17th Century, look around you. Everything is different, the world is evolving and so should you. Everyone's eyes are trailing after a goal, their hearts are getting cleaner and their minds are changing. People are adjusting to new life, they're adjusting to new beliefs. The world isn't one way, it's made up of so many different things and so many different people" Aqua said

"I get tha-"

"No! You don't get it. We're all different and we shouldn't have to follow what our ancestors did because they didn't have the same knowledge back then as we do now" Aqua said

"That... That actually makes sense-"

"Of course it makes sense, maybe if you actually listened to a word I said or made that effort to be apart of my life, you'd understand the world" Aqua hissed

The man sighed and lowered his hands, Aqua then slowly started to gain consciousness of her own body.

"Come with me" The king said

"So you could chop me up and make me into fish soup?" she asked

"Oh my God. DO YOU WANT TO GO BACK INTO YOUR ROOM!?"

"I'm not Rapunzel, you can't lock me up in a tower to protect me" Aqua scoffed

"What it a punzel?" The king asked, Aqua rolled her eyes

"Ugh, I forgot we don't have television underwater"

"What's a television?"

"I'm not having this conversation with you. I need to leave. Now" Aqua said sternly

"Why would you want to leave? What is up there Aqua? Huh? You have your family here. Your entire bloodline lives in this castle, there's nothing up there for you"

"My wife is up there" Aqua said

The eyes of the guards bulged out as their jaws hung low. The king gripped his trident as she slowly turned around to face Aqua

"Your what?!"
