《Destructive Heaven》Chapter 17: Energy

You looked down at Cain; he was laying on the ground so helplessly. Some of the strands of his hair were pasted against his forehead with cold sweat. His horns were glimmering so brightly in the light of the moon. They were a deep raven, twisting around his skull handsomely. You could see a bead of sweat dripping down his pale cheek. You slowly kneeled down to his level, laying your hand softly on his horns.
They were warm to the touch with a slightly rough exterior as they were ribbed around their natural twists and turns. You softly stroked them out of curiosity; it was the first time you have gotten to examine them so physically. Cain's voice slipped out as you caressed them slowly, coming out as a soft whimper as his cheeks went a bright red.
"Nngh-..?", he moaned, turning his face to look at you. His animalistic eyes beamed at you, begging you for more. His lips parted slightly; you could see his large fangs peaking out. He was breathing slowly and deeply now in response to your touches. You ran your finger tips over the ridges of his horns all the way to the sharp points. You pushed downward on the tip of his horn, causing his head to roll back. He stared at you desperately as his hair fell back off his forehead, exposing his whole strained face to you.
"My love..", he groaned with frustration, "More..", he added, placing his hand weakly on your lower back. You kneeled down all the way on your knees, sliding your hands down to the demons cheeks. He looked at you with soft, glossy eyes. He suddenly pulled on your lower back, causing you to fall forward. Your face was an inch away from his. You could feel him panting heavily against your flushed skin. You caressed his cheeks slowly.
"Is t-this good?", you whisper, looking away slightly from embarrassment.
Cain smirks slightly, still holding a strained expression on his face before placing a hand on your cheek and turning your face back to his.
"No, more. I need more of you."
Cain pulls your lips to his, kissing you hard. He slips his tongue in your mouth, pressing it hotly against your own. You let out a muffled moan as he pulled away and bit your bottom lip, biting down hard enough with his fangs to break the skin. You winced in pain, whimpering his name as he licked the blood off your lip deviously.

"O-ouch!", you whimpered. He looks at you with an innocent smile, kissing your left eyebrow before kissing back down to your lips. He suddenly grabs your hips as his lips stayed pressed against yours. In one swift motion he pulls you under him, pushing his hips against your womanhood. Your thighs squeezed his hips tightly from surprise and you pulled your face away from his lips.
"W-whoa! I didn't say you could go that far!", you mumbled nervously. Cain lunges down and starts kissing at your neck, biting the lower part of your neck hard. You yelp quietly, blushing heavily at the sensation. He licks over his bite with his hot, rough tongue and kisses under your jawline.
"You're not fighting me~", Cain coos softly in response to your body's twitches.
"That's because I'm trying to help you! N-no more!", you whined, wiggling away from him. Cain looks up at you as you pull your sweater down over your thighs. You rested your back against your wall as you sat on the floor. Cain sat across from you, gazing at you in amazement.
"What-?", you question him.
"You're beautiful. I like how pathetic you look when you're all turned on~", Cain teases. He licks the leftover blood off the corner of his lips, and slowly stands up. You watched his tall, slender body stretch out to its full height for the first time since his collapse. He stretches and then glances back down at you. He lowers his hand to you.
"This is wear we part ways, thank you, my love.", he says with a sigh accompanied by a weak smile.
You gently grab his hand and he pulls you upward. He wraps you into a tight embrace once you stand up all the way, putting his hand at the back of your head. You could feel his fingers tangle into your hair. He lowers his lips to your ear and whispers.
"We will meet again. Even if you hate me due to my brutality. This is simply just the way of a demon such as myself. But, I see now that there are other reactions you produce that are far more enjoyable then your pain.". You look at him in confusion at his words.
His eyes were sad. He stared at you with a weak smile. You felt your heart race pick up as you realised he wasn't being snarky, like usual. He really was going to go away for awhile

"How long with you be gone, Cain?", you ask with slight desperation in your voice. Cain looks at you solemnly. He looks away for a moment; you noticed his lips twitch downward.
"Perhaps a year or so, my dearest. Till the angels leave you be. You won't be lonely that's for sure.", he grips the back of your head slightly, tugging at your hair so your eyes meet.
You winced in pain slightly. You could feel a sadness fill your heart. There was an aching feeling that persisted at every beat of your heart. You realised in that moment that though Cain was cruel, he was also the only person who paid any mind to you and spent time with you because he actually wanted to. Even if his motives were less than desirable. He was the first person to want you. You know now that Alex only engaged with you because he sensed Cain's torment on your body, not because he enjoyed your time like Cain.
Was this loneliness you began to feel? The man you hated most was about to leave your life for an extended amount of time, or even forever if he felt no need to see you anymore. What if he found another human? You started to sweat from nervousness; was Cain leaving you because you were boring to him now? Because you were spending time with Alex? Because you didn't react enough to his torture anymore? All these questions were racing throughout your brain.
"I need time to rejuvenate my strength again. If I was barely able to deal with a measly lower ranked angel it is apparent I spent too much time in your realm.", Cain says with a cheeky smirk.
"Realm?", you question curiously.
"Curious now are we? I suppose I can tell you a little bit about our worlds before I part ways with you, Love.", Cain says with an enthusiastic sparkle in his eye.
"Angels, demons, and everything in between reside in a completely opposite plane from the mortals, such as yourself. Staying outside my realm takes a toll on my body's strength and mind, as well as my power. Whenever I disappear for days it is because I am resting in my own realm. I guess you humans now call it, 'Hell'.", Cain explains. He seemed to enjoy talking about things he knows a lot about; you never seen him so excited to talk before.
"Angels and demons clash morally, as well as our powers being polar opposites to one another. Sometimes even toxic, as you can see. But, as annoying as the pigeons are, they are still important to the lives in the mortal realm, as well as demons. Angels take care of the goodness in the world, and demons take care of everything they consider to be "impure". Humans like you are special to them; you were born especially pure. I was attracted to that pureness within you, and want to taint it, consume it..", Cain says looking right at you with hungry eyes.
"There's more people like me?", you ask trying to change the topic, a bead of sweat forming on your temple from Cain's gaze. He snaps out of it for a moment and thinks.
"Well, yes. Every now and then mortals are born with a pureness far greater than the rest. These humans' energy are harvested by the angels, which is why they are trying so hard to protect you from me. The downside to these humans is that creatures and demons are hungry for their energy. Us poor demons get the angel's leftovers~ How pathetic, don't you think?", Cain whines, rubbing his horns out of frustration.
You fall into thought for a moment. Energy? Purity? Harvesting? This was a lot for you to take in.
"So.. You all basically feed off us?", you ask with a snarky tone. Something about this information rubbed you the wrong way, it was almost annoying to you that you were basically cattle for higher beings.
"Precisely.", Cain replies.
You look down at your hands and sigh. You weren't really that surprised. You had wished deep down that you weren't born with this purity that Cain speaks of so that maybe you'd have a chance of just living quietly without the involvement of the super natural.
"But, there is something especially different about your energy, [y/n]. There is something I think I should warn you about before I leave."

Other Tales of En
Welcome to The Other Tales of En, a place where I put short stories that didn't get to be told in the main series. These are scenes and tales of characters I just had to have more of, moments I needed to see, and self-indulgent interactions. I hope you love them as much as I do! Chapters are labelled with initials of the Tale first and have notes for their beginning and end. Any chance of spoilers are listed for each tale below as well as their initials. TABLE OF CONTENTS Tale 1: Taff and Adon (T&A) The tale of when Taff and Adon first met. Slight spoilers for Starchild but not really, let's just say Adon's version of the story in Stormspeaker wasn't *quite* accurate ;) Tale 2: Vai and Echa (V&E) The tale of the meeting everyone tried to prevent. It was bound to happen and this is how it went. Spoilers for Children of the Bear, particularly Fiona's Tale, I recommend reading when you are finished with that series. Tale 3 [IN PROGRESS]: Echa and Tryst (E&T) The tale of how the cowardly pirate and the bitter slave fell in love.

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
