《WALKER》FOURTEEN

I woke up by the sound of loud coughing. My eyes widened as I sat upright I was in some sort of prison cell.
My hands gripped the bars before I looked around for Faith. I spotted her jacket and my breathing increased. She was lying curled up in the cell accross from me.
"Faith." I called but she didn't respond. "Faith wake up." I called again and her body stirred. I let out sigh of relief as she's still alive.
I heard someone coughing again so I looked to my left. A blonde girl was looking at me while she hugged her legs to her chest.
"She's fine, they just drugged her." The girl said in a hoarse tone and my eyes widened. They drugged a nine year old?
"Did they hurt her?" I asked and the girl gulped.
"Other then drugging her, no." She said before looking down at her knee caps. "Who are you?" She asked and I looked away from her.
"I'm Joel's daughter." I said in disgust before looking back to the girl.
"He has a daughter?" She asked in disbelief and I nodded. "How can someone be so ruthless knowing that what they do might happen to their daughter?" The girl asked.
"Obviously he doesn't care about me, I mean here I am." I said and the girl nodded slowly.
"I'm Xelia." She said softly.
"Rosaleigh, but you can shorten it to anything." I said and she nodded. "My friends are coming to get us, you should come with us." I said and Xelia looked at me in fear.
"They'll kill me if this goes wrong." She said and I nodded.
"I know you're scared but I'd rather be dead than to live this nightmare for the rest of my life. At least we'll die trying." I said blankly and she nodded.

"Okay." She said softly.
"You'll come with us?" I asked and she nodded. I smiled at her before holding my hand out to her and she carefully took my hand into hers.
"I protect my inner circle as best as I can." I said before looking at Faith. "We're family." I said and Xelia bit her tears back.
"Thanks." She said softly and I nodded. We both jumped in fright when loud shots went off outside Faith must've heard because she slowly sat upright.
"Rose?" She called sleepily.
"I'm here." I said and her eyes shot up at me.
"Rose!" She started to cry and I clenched my jaw as I tried to hold my own tears back.
"Hey, you hear that outside? We'll be out of here soon. They came to get us." I said and Faith nodded slowly before wiping her cheeks dry.
"Hey kid?" I called and Faith frowned at me. "Do still have your knife?" I asked and she checked her back pocket before pulling the knife out. I smiled before thinking of a plan.
"Can you throw it at me?" I asked and she nodded. "Just slide it accross the floor." I said and she nodded before doing as I told her to.
The knife stopped a few inches away from me so I painfully reached for it. Both of my wrists were in excruciating pain. I let out a pained gasp before grabbing ahold of the tip of the knife. I painfully pulled it closer to me before I was able to take it.
I held the knife against my chest while catching my breath.
"Thanks kid." I said tiredly before moving my wrists around.
"Your wrists, are they broken?" Xelia asked and my head shot up at her.

"No." I said and she frowned.
"I can help you fight." She said and I shook my head.
"I can handle it." I said and she nodded in understanding.
The door suddenly bursted open and all three of us scampered to the back of our cells.
"Ro!" I heard Elliot call my name. "Faith!" He called again.
"We're here!" I yelled back and he came running towards us in the darkness. I heard the sound of keys before he opened my cell. I jumped into his arms and he spun me around.
He placed a kiss on my forehead and I wiped my tears away. "Help Faith and Xelia." I said softly and he froze in his spot.
"Xelia?" He asked while unlocking Faith's cell and I nodded before pointing at Xelia.
"No." Elliot said blankly.
"No?" I asked in confusion.
"She could be a fucking psycho. I can't trust her around faith." He said and I hit his arm before huffing out in frustration.
"Help her." I said and he clenched his jaw before going over to Xelia and unlocking her cell.
"I helped her and that's it, she's not coming with us." He said blankly. "Let's go! Dad and his army is fighting off some rotters, we need to get out of here before they're clear." He said and I nodded before grabbing Xelia's hand. Elliot picked Faith up before running outside with her and we followed suit.
"Rosaleigh, I can't go with you, he doesn't want me to come." Xelia said as we got outside.
"He's just on edge! Now let's go." I said while running after Elliot. We ran for a few more minutes before we reached a large truck. Hunter and Kieran were keeping watch but they let their guns down as soon as they saw us.
"Get in the truck!" Noah yelled at us from behind the steering wheel and we all jumped into the truck before Noah sped down the road. Gunshots still went off as our parents were fighting off some walkers.
The wind blew through my hair and I smiled broadly. I looked over at Xelia and she smiled at me so I gave her a hug.
Faith was sitting on Elliot's lap with her face buried in his shoulder. Hunter placed his arm around my shoulder so I rested my head on his shoulder.
"Don't do sketchy shit like this again." He said and I nodded while biting back my tears. "You have to think about Faith's safety too now." He said and I nodded but my tears started falling so he pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry." He said while hugging me and I just kept quiet.

Fall of Jupiter
What happens when the most powerful man in the world loses his soulmate to a heart attack? What happens when an innocent woman is dragged into a world of magic, and superheroes? Who is the true hero of the story? Note: This is the first book I ever wrote seriously. (I even had a cover made before I decided against publishing it) I'd like to think my writing style has improved with practice, and the multiple other books I've worked on. It felt wrong to leave a nearly completed book gathering dust in my google docs, but I don't think it's good enough to be officially published. As a result, I'm putting it here instead where it at least won't be totally wasted. Eventually, I'll put in the last 10 hours or so to finish it for you guys. Hope you like it :)
