《》Chapter 2: School

I woke up to the sound of my alarm having a stroke. Cutting it off, I get out of bed doing my daily routine. By time I get done, Bella is already waiting for me outside I at her truck. "Good morning." She said. "Frick off." I chuckled. She laughed as she got in her truck. I've never been morning person. One could argue that I'm not a night person either. I would argue that I'm not a person, but an angel sent from above to grace these mere humans with my divine grace. But to each their own.
Pulling into school, Bella and I park side by side. I look into her truck to see her unnerved. I get out of the car to scope out the place to hear some guy in a hippie van tease her about her truck. I smirked and took Bella's hand, helping her out of her truck. "I wouldn't be so arrogant if I had a van that screamed rapist." I said, giving him the finger as we walked away. "She's hot." I heard the same guy say. "What the hell? Gross." I scoffed as we were further away.
I heard a slight giggle and turned to my left to see a blonde girl and what I assumed to be her boyfriend laughing at what I had said. The blonde caught my eye and smiled a proud smile at me. I gave her a smirk and nodded at her. "She gets it." I laughed.
After getting our schedules and a weird introduction from some random guy, I made my way to my first class after walking Bella to hers. It was History. Once I walked in, I saw the blonde girl from earlier sitting in the back staring out of the window. Giving my pass to the teacher, he seated me in the back with said girl. This should be interesting.
Sitting down, I caught the attention of the blonde girl. I might as well make new friends. "Hi. I'm Genesis." I introduce. She looked at me for a second, seemingly hesitant, before she smiled a bit. "Rosalie." She answered. I was about to chuck myself out the window for my awkwardness, before I noticed her outfit. "Nice outfit. You have a great fashion sense I see." I complimented.

It seems that I may have accidentally unlocked her heart, seeing as that now she's smiling so wide she's practically glowing. "Thank you. It's refreshing to find someone other than my aunt and sister who has an eye for clothing." She smiled. "I'm glad I could brighten up your day. We should go shopping sometime. I could use a few dozen more outfits." I laughed.
"That sounds like a great idea." She said, jotting down something on a piece of paper and sliding it to me. It's her number. "Wow. I made a friend!" I smiled gleefully, giving her my number as well. "It shouldn't be hard for you to make friends. You're very likable." She said. I put my hand over my heart, "Oh Rosalie, you're too kind." I giggled. She laughed and smiled at me. "I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship."
After history I went to my locker to get stuff for my next class. Someone tapped my shoulder and I turned to see Rosalie and the guy I saw from earlier. "Genesis, this is my boyfriend Emmett. He wanted to meet you because apparently he believes you're magical." She rolled her eyes. Emmett laughed and stuck out his hand. "Emmett Cullen. Sorry, I just had to see the magical being that broke through her barrier." He chuckled.
Smiling, I shook his hand, almost jerking away when I felt how cold it was, but I didn't want to be rude. "Genesis Swan. I'm no magical creature, but I've been told I'm very likable." I smiled over at Rosalie who gave me a smile back. Just then, a girl skipped over, dragging a blonde man with her. "Hi! I'm Alice! I heard you like fashion and just had to meet you!" She smiled. "I'm glad you did. I just realized how out of date my clothes are." I laugh.
She shook her head. "Nonsense. You look great." She complimented. I smiled thankfully at her and turned to meet the blonde boy. When he was walking over, he looked to be in pain, but now that I see him up close, he doesn't seem too bothered anymore. I stuck out my hand to him and looked him in the eye. "Genesis Swan. Nice to meet you." I stated, not looking away. I was determined to make sure he was alright with my presence. He seemed too blocked off and uncomfortable, and I wanted to help fix that.

He smiled down at me and grabbed my hand, shaking it gently. "Jasper Hale. Nice to meet you ma'am." He introduced politely. My hard stare softened, knowing he was now at ease. I always had a knack for reading people. I just wanted peace. Looking back at the others, they seemed shocked about something, making me feel anxious. Have I done something wrong?
Jasper patted my shoulder, as if to calm me down. And somehow that worked, I calmed down immediately. The bell rang for the next period and I shut my locker and smiled back at Alice. "Rosalie has my number, I'd like you to have it too. We can all go shopping together, yeah?" I asked. She smiled widely at me and nodded her head. We bid each other goodbye as we went to our next class.
Lunch time had finally rolled around the corner and I went to go and find Bella. Bella had made a few 'friends' from her classes. From what I could see, Mike wanted to get into her pants, Jessica was jealous of her, Eric had a crush on her, and Angela was the sweetest out of all of them. However, I decided to sit with them, not wanting Bella alone with them.
As Jessica was talking about how we were 'shiny new toys' I saw my friends walk in from the outside. Bella seemed mesmerized by their very presence, which confused me. They're just people, aren't they? "Those are the Cullens," Jessica began, "foster kids of Doctor Cullen. All drop dead gorgeous." She smirked. "And?" I asked. "They're all together. It's weird." She scoffed.
"The blonde one, that's Rosalie. She always has a scowl on her face. The big buff guy, that her boyfriend, Emmett." She stated. Is she serious right now? "Pixie girl is Alice, she's weird. And her boyfriend Jasper, who always looks like he's in pain." She made a weird face. "The last one, that's Edward Cullen. Super hot, super single. Apparently no one here is good enough for him," She scoffed, "like I care."
"Maybe because the girls here are gossiping assholes who judge people who they don't know." I said, glancing at the Cullen table. They were all looking at me. "Besides, It's none of our business. So what they love each other and live in together? Who cares? At least their happy." I grumbled. I look back at their table, and Rosalie motions me over, pointing to the chair beside her in the middle of the table.
I nod and look at Bella, seeing her staring at Edward. "I'll see you later, Bells." I said, making my way over to Rosalie. Sitting next to her, she caught Edward's attention from my sister. Interesting. Edward looked over at me and smiled a bit. "Hi." He said. "Hi," I started. I looked him straight in the eye like I had Jasper. I didn't want him uncomfortable with me being here. "I'm Genesis Swan. It's nice to meet you." I stated.
He looked into my eyes, holding my gaze. I just want peace. His eyes softened and he smiled at me for real this time. "Edward Cullen. It's nice to meet you too."
After school, I walked outside waiting for Bella. She came storming out of the school with an upsetting look on her face. She started to storm away before I grabbed her hand. She turned around and glared at me. I looked into her eyes and held her gaze. I don't want her to be upset. I want her to be calm. We kept staring at each other until her gaze softened and she looked down. "I'll tell you at home." She mumbled. I nodded and let her go.
I just want peace.

Frameshift
Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams").
