《》Chapter 29: Lies

Genesis and Bella sat on the couch next to Charlie, who was steady telling them of all the hell they put him through. "You know what? I'll unground you two, if you spend time with other friends. Like, Jacob. Billy says he's been ping through a tough time. I remember when that was you two and Jacob was there for you." Charlie said. Genesis gave a slight smile, "We'll give him a call." Charlie sighed in relief, thankful that there were no arguments.
"Thank you." He said. Bella nodded and stood up, pulling up Genesis with her. "We'll see you later, dad." Bella gave him a quick smile before pulling Genesis up the stairs and into her room. Genesis looked at Bella with raised eyebrows. "Are we calling Jacob?" She asked. Bella paused for a while then sighed. "Yeah. Yeah, I just, have some things I want to talk to you about." She said. Genesis nodded. "Shoot."
Bella nodded and took another pause, trying to figure out what to say first. "Can I, can I see your scars?" She asked finally. Genesis looked surprised, but then sighed in defeat. She knew this was coming. Genesis pulled off her shirt and turned around. Bella's eyes widened, not exactly sure what she was expecting. Bella walked closer and gently touched one of the claw marks, making Genesis flinch.
"Who did it?" Bella asked after examining her wound. Genesis put her head down, "Jacob." She admitted. Bella huffed, "When? Why?" She asked, irritated that Genesis never told her. "It was after the movies. He was changing and I brought him home. It was my fault. I got too close." Genesis huffed and put her shirt back on, turning to face Bella.
"I didn't want to keep it a secret, but it happened when Edward was gone and I didn't think you'd want to be around Jacob after that. Jacob was the one who helped us through everything and without him we wouldn't even be here." Genesis rambled on, trying to make Bella not mad at her. To be honest though, Bella wasn't mad. She had no reason to be. It was neither of their faults. Jacob couldn't control what was happening to him, and Genesis couldn't have know that he was going to hurt her.
Bella calmed Genesis down by hugging her, making her stop her rambling and sigh in relief, hugging Bella back. "I'm not mad at you, Gen. I'm kind of scared of what the others are going to do, though." Bella said. Genesis gave her a weary smile, "They already know." She admitted. Bella's eyes widened. "They found out earlier today. Alice wanted to see my scars and I showed Esme and Rosalie too. Rosalie snapped and the boys ended up getting involved." Genesis explained.

"How did they handle it?" Bella asked, kind of wondering how all of this went down without her present. "Not well. Carlisle went out the window and jumped over the treaty line." Genesis sighed. Bella gasped, "What?! What happened?! How did you stop him?!" Bella rambled, now concerned for not only Jacob's safety, but also for the Cullen's. What if the treaty is broken and they cause a war?
"I jumped on him, tackling him to the ground on the other side." Genesis chuckled at the odd memory. She couldn't believe she tackled a vampire to the floor and protected him from werewolves. She felt like it was a weird dream. "You tackled Carlisle to the ground?!" Bella exclaimed in disbelief. Genesis laughed, "Yeah. Sam, Paul, and Jared showed up right after, too. Thankfully, Sam loves me and Carlisle has a good reputation." Genesis said.
Bella laughed in disbelief at the odd situation, "So, Sam just, let you go?" She asked. Genesis nodded, "He also said that Carlisle is allowed over if he's with me." She smiled triumphantly, happy that she was able to bring peace between the wolves and at least one of the Cullen's. Bella stared wide eyed, "You've got to teach me how to make people love you so much." She said.
Genesis rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah. What else did you have to tell me?" She asked. Bella sighed, not exactly knowing how to put what she had to say into words, so she just got to the point, "Edward's going to change me after graduation." Bella began. Genesis's eyes widened. She knew that they had to turn soon, but that soon? "He asked me to marry him." She finished. Genesis smiled a bit at that, happy that her sister was going to get her happily ever after.
"So soon, huh?" Genesis sighed. "You know we can't wait. I don't want to be killed, and I don't want you to be killed either." Bella explained. Genesis nodded, "I know. I don't know when I want to turn, though. I never looked at it as an option before. I thought I could wait, you know, until I'm like, in my mid twenties." She said. Bella gave her a look, "Isn't Carlisle physically twenty three? You're okay with looking older than him?" She asked.
Genesis shook her head, "I wouldn't look older than him at twenty five. Also, he's technically over three hundred years older than me, so I think the saying 'age is just a number' is basically all of our thing." Genesis said. Bella nodded, "What about the proposal?" She asked. Genesis raised an eyebrow, "What about it? He loves you, you love him, what's the matter?" She asked.

"A lot of marriages end in divorce. I don't like the idea of a piece of paper telling us that we're bound to each other, I want us to feel that way." Bella explained. Genesis looked at her like she was crazy, because she was, "Bella, first of all, I really don't think the divorce rate for vampires are the same as humans. Secondly, you two love each other. You guys are stuck to one another like magnets. That piece of paper is nothing compared to what you already have. If anything, it's just a symbol of the love you share." She explained.
Bella's eyebrows shot up, she didn't think Genesis thought so much about marriage. Genesis was always the 'live in the moment' type of girl. "I didn't think you thought so much about that." Bella said, voicing her thoughts. Genesis gave a small smile, "I always thought I would never find someone that would love me, or that I would love. But, when Carlisle came around, my mind started to look into the future. And now I have five teenagers that call me mom and a man that loves me." A tear went down Genesis's cheek.
"And I love him. So, so much. I don't think I could ever even fathom looking for someone if he ever left me. But, I know that I will never have to." Genesis smiled. Bella smiled at her sister's joy. She was glad that Genesis found love in Carlisle. But, she frowned at the thought that Genesis never talked about changing. She couldn't live, or die, without Genesis. Even if Genesis hadn't fallen for Carlisle, Bella would have still ended up turning her in the end.
"So, you haven't talked to Carlisle about turning you?" Bella asked. Genesis shrugged, "I did ask about them wanting me to join them. We had a vote before you came over for your vote. We never talked about how." She explained. Bella nodded, and looked at her sister seriously. Bella wasn't going to let this wait until Aro gets his hands on her. Genesis needed to change sooner rather than later. If she didn't, she was going to be killed, and Bella wasn't going to let that happen.
"If you're not changed by time I am, I will turn you myself."
Genesis sat down with Bella's friends with her and Edward today. It was quite an odd change up for her, but she didn't mind as long as she had them with her. Mike was talking about Jessica's speech, spilling off some cliche dialogue that would make anyone want to smash their face on a text book. It seems Jessica agrees. Genesis rolled her eyes at them, their banter obviously pointless because either way, Jessica is going to write her speech herself.
Alice and Jasper sat down, much to everyone's surprise. Genesis gave them a smile, which they happily returned. "I've decided to throw a graduation party." Alice said. Genesis smiled, happy that they were including the humans in their celebration. It was refreshing to see them interact with other humans apart from Bella and herself. "Really, Alice? Another party?" Edward said.
Genesis gave him a side glare, instantly making him apologize quietly to Alice. "This one will be fun!" Alice reasoned. "That's what you said last time." Bella mumbled. Genesis nudged her, causing her to quickly shut up. Genesis noticed Alice going into a trance like state and she quickly changed the subject, earning the others eyes on her. She would have to ask about the vision later.
Edward refused to let up about Alice's vision and sent Genesis and Bella away to see their mom. Genesis didn't even have the chance to talk to Carlisle before she was already getting on a plane. She knew something was up, it was obvious. She even told Bella that, but Bella insisted that of there were something going on, then Edward would have told them. Genesis believes that, if it were bad enough, he'd lie to get them away.
News flash, she was right. There they were, standing in front on none other than Jacob Black, him telling them of what had happened while they were away. "Why didn't you tell them? They are the ones the red head wants." He taunted Edward. Edward told them that he was just trying to protect them, and Bella, of course, didn't like that. So, she went with Jacob on his motorcycle. They told Genesis to meet them at Emily's.
Genesis sighed and turned around to head to her car when Edward grabbed her arm. "Please, I'm sorry, please don't go too." He begged. Genesis gave him a small smile and hugged him. "I'm just going to make sure she's safe, Eddy. We'll be home soon." She smiled up at him. He sighed, "Carlisle's not going to be happy about you seeing him." He said. Genesis nodded, "I know. But, he's still my friend." She said. Edward nodded in understanding. Genesis pulled away and gave him a friendly punch on the shoulder.
"Brighten up, Ferret."

Reincarnated As A Benevolent Tyrant
NOTICE: This story is under rewrite. New novel has been published. Search **RE: Tyranny** in Royalroad for the new novel.Link- Re: Tyranny Thank You! ------------------------ "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." What a brilliant line, isn't it? James was a boy who had nothing to worry about. A happy family, a nice childhood. What's more to ask? But one day, everything changed. He lost everything in the blink of an eye. The only thing left for him were the memories and dreams of the past. Trying to cope up with the loss, he cut all ties with the outside world and became a shut-in, having no one left to call his own or to rely upon. There was nothing left for him in this world, but still he lived and soon found a purpose in his life, which lead him to create something that could change the world. And on the very day when his dream project was about to come to the light, he lost his life, trying to save a little girl from an unfortunate accident. "Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. But his life didn't end there, as he is transmigrated into the body of an arrogant, worthless Duke's son in some unknown land with no memories about who is or any idea about where he is. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. This novel is also available on Scribble Hub. And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.
