《》Chapter 32: Change In Plans

Genesis sat next to Rosalie as she watch Carlisle wrap up Bella's hand. She didn't know what to do anymore. She always wanted peace between everyone, but she doesn't know how she could ever be around Jacob again. Genesis never had feelings for Jacob. He was more like a younger brother than anything. It had nothing to do with the age difference, he just acted like a child sometimes, which he proved earlier that day.
"What did you do when he kissed you?" Rosalie whispered. The two had been talking about the incident since Genesis got there. At this point, Genesis was trying to distract Rosalie from Bella as much as possible. Rosalie was still upset about Bella's choice, and Bella never seemed to want to ask why, just adding to Rosalie's annoyance. "I freaked out. Tried pushing him away, but he kept too strong of a hold on me." Genesis whispered back.
Rosalie's face contorted into one of anger. She knew the feeling all too well, and she knew Genesis did too. "How did you get away?" She asked lowly, trying her best to keep their conversation private and not explode from anger. "He let me go once I started having a panic attack. I guess I have some sort of PTSD. Never knew I did until today." Genesis sighed. She wasn't exactly very couscous around men like one would think. She knew not all men were that way, so she never thought she'd get flashbacks and overwhelming emotions that she had experienced only years ago.
"He should have never touched you." Rosalie gritted out. "He's just a kid. He probably thought he was flirting. It happened as if we were on some kind of Soap Opera." Genesis huffed. Rosalie rolled her eyes and went to say something else before she heard Bella's comment to Bella about being able to sake him on as a newborn. Rosalie huffed and put down her book, walking out onto the balcony. Bella stared after her, wondering why Rosalie was so upset. "You should go talk to her, Bells. I know she seems pissed all the time, but she has her reasons. Go hear her out." Genesis persuaded.
Bella looked to her sister and nodded, following Rosalie out the door. Carlisle and Genesis met each other's eyes and he nodded towards his study downstairs. Genesis stood up and followed him down into his study, quietly shutting the door behind her. They stood in silence for a moment, Carlisle looking out the window in thought. Genesis decided to speak, "I'm sorry." She apologized.

Carlisle shook his head, "You didn't kiss him. Don't apologize for his ignorance." He spoke lowly. Carlisle was dangerously quiet. He was mostly always quiet, but this was different. It felt as if the room were tense around him, something that Genesis never knew he could do. Carlisle is a caring man, sure, she's seen him fight before, and even go after people before, but it wasn't without reason. This that she was seeing now was as if he was locking himself in a metaphorical cage; keeping his anger at ease.
"I heard you and Rosalie. I know what he did." He spoke again after a long pause. Genesis sighed. She should have known his vampire hearing would pick up their conversation. "You can't hurt him. If you do, you know what will happen." Genesis stated. Carlisle nodded, "I know." He replied. Genesis thought for a moment, finally coming up with what to say. "He's just a kid. He's naive and has a crush on Bella and I, so, I think the best way to handle this is to get rid of his crush on us." Genesis explained.
Carlisle rose an eyebrow at her, silently telling her to explain. "I won't go around him anymore. And I'll keep Bella away, too. If there's no contact, then his feeling will eventually die down." She explained further. Carlisle sighed, "I can't ask you to do that. He's your friend. And, as much as I don't exactly like him, I would never tell you to stay away from him." He said. Genesis shook her head with a small smile, "I appreciate that. But, I think it's for the best. He needs to understand that I love you and only you. And if that means I have to treat him like a child and put him in time out, so be it." She said.
A smile made it's way to Carlisle's face, the tension in the room finally calming down. Carlisle pulled her into a tight hug, something that Genesis really needed. Her heart was still pounding and hurt from all the anxiety the panic attack gave her, and a hug from one of the only men she found to be her safe place helped ease the pain a lot. "I love you." Genesis whispered, smiling wider when his grip on her tightened a bit more.
"I love you too."
"Genesis Swan!" The principal called. It was graduation day, and Genesis's birthday. She couldn't be happier to be out of Forks High School. She was getting considerably too old for high school, now being twenty. She had been held back last year due to her giving up her studies so she could be held back and stay with Bella during the time the Cullen's left, so now she was the oldest graduate the school has.

She heard loud cheers and clapping as she made her way to the stage, laughing a bit to herself because the principal had asked them to save their applause until after the ceremony. She looked off into the crowd, seeing all the Cullen kids, including her sister, on their feet. She also saw Sam and Emily with the pack in the way back, hollering quite loudly. She could see Jacob in one of the seats clapping, making her sigh at the sight. She then looked to Charlie as he stood clapping for her, Esme and Chandler standing right beside him.
She finally made eye contact with Carlisle, who was standing on the other side of Chandler. The two exchanged a smile, tears coming to her eyes as she realizes how far she has come and how much she has learned over the past two years. She learned to take care of herself, she learned to forgive, but, most importantly,
She learned to love.
Genesis walked around with Bella at the Cullen party, thanking everyone for coming. Well, Genesis did, anyway. "You'd think you'd be more social since you know you aren't going to see these people after tonight." Genesis joked. Bella huffed, "Yeah, yeah. To be fair, though, some of these people are their family, so," Bella defended. "So your first impression is to avoid them and be as awkward as possible?" Genesis questioned.
Bella pursed her lips, about to comment, but Jacob walking in with Quil and Embry cut her off. Genesis followed her sister's glare and she sighed. She's not one to hold a grudge, but she knows everyone, besides Carlisle, are very unforgiving when it comes to her. She walked up to him, much to Bella's dismay, so she followed closely to make sure nothing happened. "You're here," Genesis stated. He gave her a tight smile, "You guys invited me, remember?" He replied slyly, only fueling Bella's anger.
"Was my right hook too subtle for you? That was me uninviting you." Bella spat coldly. Jacob sighed, "Look, I'm sorry. I'd blame it on the whole 'wolf thing', but that was just me, being an ass." He replied. Genesis took Bella's hand and gave it a squeeze, "Didn't I tell you that forgiveness is key to a peaceful life?" Genesis asked her, referring back to when they were kids and Bella was mad at some boy from school.
Bella sighed and looked back up to Jacob, "I forgive you." She said. "I forgive you as well." Genesis assured next. Jacob smiled and pulled two boxes out of his pockets and opened them up to the girls, revealing a handmade wolf bracelet. "It's a graduation present." He explained. "It's beautiful Jake." Genesis complimented as she admired the jewelry. "Yeah, thanks," Bella cut herself off and directed their attention towards Alice who was now on the stairs in a trance like state.
The girls hurried over to her, the boys behind them on their tails. "Alice, hun, what did you see?" Genesis asked as she held Alice's hands for support. Alice finally made eye contact with her, "The army, their not going to Seattle. They're coming here."
The Cullen's, pack, as Swan sisters all sat around in a separate room to the party outside, now discussing the vision Alice had experienced. "They'll be here in three days." Alice explained. "We're going to have to fight them away from here. We can't let them get too close to the people." Carlisle commented. "We can meet them in the mountains. It's cold, plus, we could go where it's too dangerous, no human would be close enough to us for their scent to be picked up." Jasper suggested.
"Fight them? Who's 'them'?" Jacob asked. "An army of vampires. They're after Genesis and Bella." Carlisle answered flatly. Jacob instantly tensed up, "The pack will fight." Jacob stated. "No! You'll get yourselves killed, no way!" Bella argued. Genesis sighed and put her head in her hands. She knew that Bella was wasting her breath. When Genesis's other friends in the tribe hear of her being in danger, they'll instantly be there.
They argued back and forth until Edward finally spoke, "It means more protection for both of you. Jacob, will Sam agree to help us?" He asked. Jacob nodded, glancing over at Genesis, "He'd be more than willing to." He confirmed. "Jake, you don't know what you're getting yourself into." Bella argued once again. Jacob crossed his arms with a smug grin on his face.
"This is What we do."

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
