《》Chapter 41: Snap

"This is all my fault." Edward gritted as he paced the living room. Bella was getting a check up with Carlisle while Genesis comforted Edward, which is obviously a hard task seeing as the boy is stubborn when it comes to beating himself up. "Edward, how were you supposed to know this would happen? Think about it. You're a vampire. Your body should be mostly dead aside from your mind and whatever vampire abilities you have. Who could ever imagine that you would still be able to reproduce?" Genesis reasoned.
They both knew she had a point. His body has been dead for over a hundred years, there should be no way that his sperm cells should still be alive. "I just don't want to lose her. I can't. I would never be able to live with myself if I lost her." He said bitterly. Genesis sighed. She was beginning to get a little irritated. She had been holding back her emotions since the phone call with Bella and she was sure she was going to snap if she didn't just go somewhere and cry soon.
She stood to her feet and walked over to Edward, making him stop his pacing and look to his feet. "Why are you blocking out your thoughts?" He asked. Genesis didn't answer, she just put her hands to the boy's face, cupping his cheeks and making him look up at her. "Open your eyes, and seize the sun, my child. Don't let the clouds drown you in judgement and take your freedom of joyous strength." She said. The statement was one that her therapist had told her long ago, but still stuck to her to this day.
"Have hope."
Bella was looking worse by the day. They had to call Charlie to assure him of her well being with some fake illness she just happen to get on the trip. From what it's starting to boil down to, it looks like that's the story of how she's going to die. How depressing. His daughter just got married to a man he's kind of weary of, and now, only two weeks after the wedding, she's dead, and soon, so will his other daughter. Looks like fate is quite cruel.
"Jacob's going to find out sooner or later." Bella spoke from the couch. That seems to be where she always is. But, could you blame her? Her stomach is the size of a literal beach ball, meaning it must be really hard to move. "That dog can stay away." Rosalie snarled. "Rose, he's our friend." Bella defended. "He's nothing but a horn dog, Bella! He's done nothing but try to get in the way of yours and Gen's happiness and you're still defending him?!" Rosalie exclaimed.

"He was there for us through the worst of times, Rose. He may have a few screws loose but he has good intentions." Bella further defended. "The only thing he intended to do was take one of you away from the men you guys love!" Rosalie argued more. "He's young, Rose. He fell in love, he'll get over it. We can't just shut him out." Bella argued back. "A real friend would have honored our decisions." Genesis finally spoke.
The two girls went quiet, a thick layer of rage now setting in the room. Genesis was never known to be an angry person. Hell, she was never known to be angry in the first place. But, something seemed to be snapping within her the more and more everything continued. "If he cared he would have kept his feelings to himself after being rejected. But, he didn't. He didn't come to my wedding, he crashed yours, and you're defending him?" Genesis gave Bella a side eyed, questioning glare, not even turning to look her naive sister in the face.
"Gen..." Bella spoke softly out of shock and fear. "I know what he did was wrong, but he should get a second chance." Her defense was now more quiet, too afraid to actively continue fighting the truth. "He has had chance after chance, Bells. Personally, I want him to finally apologize and admit his wrong doings before I even so much as speak to the man like I used to." Genesis stated coldly. Bella didn't have any further argument.
She was right.
"Where are they?" Jacob's voice could be heard down the stares after Carlisle opened the door. Genesis stayed sat by Bella's side, letting her legs sit on her lap. Genesis hadn't slept since the night she found out, too worried Bella would slip away if she weren't there. It was irrational. There were plenty of people that would be awake and by her side, yet she still couldn't will herself away. Jacob appeared in the doorway, his once tense and angered demeanor now subsiding a bit seeing that both the sisters seemed to be in good health.
"You guys are still... you?" He asked hesitantly. "We're fine, Jake." Bella confirmed stiffly, the conversation she had with Genesis a few days prior ringing in her mind, fueling a rage she didn't once have towards the man. "Then what's wrong with you?" He asked. Bella's eyes landed on her sister, then to the floor. "Why does it matter? You didn't care about how I feel before, why should I tell you now?" Bella asked.

Jacob was shocked. He didn't think that the two would still be upset with him. The boy sighed. He was still angry, resentful, but, she was right. It's not all about him. "Bella, Gen, I'm so, so sorry." He looked down in shame, then to everyone else in the room, "I'm sorry to all of you. I've been nothing but a dick ever since you left and I'm sorry." He said. "I may not like you, but I care about them." He stated. Rosalie rolled her eyes, already knowing the boy had no intentions of changing.
Bella looked to Genesis for approval. Genesis knew the same as Rose, but she couldn't help but to forgive the boy. He's their best friend. He'll end up imprinting anyway, and they are already married, so she sees no need to push it any further. They need Jacob more than ever at the moment. Genesis nodded and stood up, already figuring how upset Jacob's going to be once he sees what's going on. "Rose, will you help me up?" Bella asked, already knowing her sister's stance.
Bella stood up and it immediately turned silent in the room. Jacob snarled and turned to Edward, Who was quickly shielded by Genesis. "You did this." Jacob accused. "Jake." Genesis demanded, blocking Edward immediately from his wrath. "You're okay with this?!" Jacob exclaimed. That was it. Genesis had had enough of this. She always put others first, and she knew how she was feeling had to of been selfish, but she's only human.
Even Genesis snaps.
"You think I'm okay with this?" Genesis's words were cold and sharp like knives. The whole room went silent, half in shock and half in fear. Genesis
had never snapped before, and no one dared to stop her. "I'm not okay with this, no. I'm glad someone finally asked me how I felt. She may be Edwards wife, and what feels like family to all of you, but I her, I for her, I for her. That is my fucking sister. And not one of you ever asked me how I felt about this situation." She seethed.
"" Genesis spoke pointedly towards her sister. "'How would Edward feel? How do I calm Edward down? If I die can you take care of them?'" She quoted. "All you cared about was how Edward was feeling. Which is something you should care about. But you never once thought about the person who gave you everything." She accused. Bella's eyes widened. She was right. She was only thinking about how, if this ended badly, Edward would feel. Not Charlie. Not Renee. Not Genesis.
Genesis's body shook and her breathing became labored. She knew the feeling of a panic attack all too well, but she wasn't done. "I was there for you through everything. I took care of you, I kept you calm in your darkest moments, I raised you when mom went off with Phil dammit!" She exclaimed. The sisters never spoke poorly of their mother, but the reason why Genesis was able to sneak out in the first place was because Renee and Phil were never there.
Bella's heart dropped. She never told anyone about Renee and Phil's neglect in their youthful years. "Oh, please, don't tell me you forgot. The way she left for months at a time across the country, leaving only a bit of money behind for us to live. You remember my first job at eleven? At the gas station a block away? Do you know how hard it was to convince Mr. Rogers to let an eleven year old work in one of his worldwide gas stations?" She questioned.
"It was because his wife, Sarah, loved me and his son, Steve, was my best friend. He took pity on us, Bella! I provided for you! I love you too, dammit! What about me?! What about how I would feel if you died?!" Tears flowed down her face as she tried to catch her breath. She felt a hand on her shoulder and whipped around quickly to face Carlisle. His face was contorted into one of sadness after learning more about the sisters past and how much it effected Genesis and her mental state.
"Walk with me."
