《》Chapter 44: Volturi

Carlisle stepped into his study and looked over wearily at his wife. Carlisle's eyes widened as he noticed the scars and wounds she once held had faded away. He couldn't help the wide and hopeful smile that spread across his face. She was going to make it. Bella was right, she would never leave them behind. He would have been there sooner, but he had to get Bradley and Bree to finally get out of the house and hunt.
Carlisle hurriedly wheeled her stretcher into the living room where Bella's once was just the day before. The others quickly gathered around once they heard the rolling, now realizing the hope themselves. Bella held Anastasia close as she smiled gleefully at the sight of her healed sister. She was alive. She was coming back. She knew Genesis would never leave them behind.
Bella looked down at Anastasia, a bit saddened. She had noticed that she was growing at an alarming rate and didn't know what to do. At this rate, she didn't know how long they would have with her. Charlie had also become a problem. He calls both her and Genesis at least five times a day, and they still couldn't bring themselves to tell him that the two were gone. Edward noticed Bella's sad demeanor and grabbed her hand reassuringly.
"She's coming back. She and Carlisle will help us figure it out." He comforted. Bella sighed and nodded. If anyone knew what to do, it would be Genesis and Carlisle. Suddenly, the ground beneath them shook ever so slightly. The lights started flickering as everyone looked around in confusion. Jacob was immediately by Bella and Edward's side to protect Anastasia. "Carlisle, what's happening?" Chandler questioned.
"I don't know." He hurried out before holding onto Genesis's stretcher to stabilize it. "Carlisle!" Bella yelled. Carlisle looked over to see Bella's worried face as she looked down at Edward. He was holding his hand in pain as he crumbled to the floor. Anastasia was screaming, almost painfully. A force suddenly came off of Bella uncontrollably, knocking Jacob back. However, he was having his own problems. He looked as if he was shifting, but stuck fighting it.
Carlisle looked over to Alice and Jasper as he heard something fall over in their direction. Jasper Held Alice in his arms as her eyes were glassed over with visions, also holding his head in pain. Bree looked around shakily, almost as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Bradley has things flying towards him, dodging them. He didn't know he had a gift. Carlisle didn't watch anymore, he couldn't, for an overwhelming amount of pain hit his throat. He was thirsty. Really thirsty. He craved human blood more than he ever had in his entire existence.
This was impossible. He never craved human blood. His gift wouldn't allow it. Realization struck him. Their gifts were going haywire. He looked around once more, noting that everyone had fallen to either their own gift or the violent shaking in the room. Then, all at once, it stopped. Carlisle gasped for air as the unwavering pain drastically disappeared. He looked up in awe, seeing Genesis sitting up and looking around in confusion.

"Genesis.." He whispered. He quickly jumped up and held his wife tightly, thankful for her return. Genesis's wide eyes creased as she smiled, happy to be in his loving arms once more. She pulled away, looking around with a smile. However, it faded once she noticed the commotion. Jacob was on the floor, holding his chest with wide eyes as he finally gained control of himself. Edward was breathing harshly, as if to calm himself down.
Alice was back on her feet, swaying as she Cain back to reality. Jasper leaned against the wall, a pained expression on his face. Bree looked around frantically, now being able to see clearly. Bradley looked down at his hands in distress, wondering what had happened to him. Rosalie, Emmett, Esme, and Chandler picked themselves off the floor shakily. Genesis's eyes finally landed on Bella, who looked down, confused at how she had done what she did.
Genesis noticed the baby instantly. She was crying, wailing in fact. Genesis immediately sped over and took the child from Bella's shaky arms, who only looked at her in a daze. The instant she picked up Anastasia, she stopped crying. "How did you do that?" Bella stuttered. "I don't know.." she answered truthfully. "Carlisle, what just happened?" Edward asked horsely as he stood up from the floor. Carlisle stared at his wife in awe. He couldn't believe the amount of power she held.
"It's her gift. She has the power to create peace, or utter chaos." He revealed. "It's true. While everything was happening, I could only see her aura. There was so much power coming out of her body. I couldn't believe it." Bree spoke up. "How did you do that? It was like I was phasing, but also not, like I was splitting myself in half." Jacob said. "And I found out I have a gift, some kind of shield!" Bella exclaimed. "Same here! I have some kind of telekinesis!" Bradley joined.
Genesis looked at all of them in confusion. "I didn't mean to. The first thing I felt when I started waking up was rage. I was angry at Thomas. And then I wanted to calm the baby down, so I guess that's how it works. My emotions." She explained. "Anastasia." Bella revealed, smiling at her sister. "Anastasia? You named her after me?" Venom rose to her eyes as she hugged her sister. "You scared me, Gen." Bella whispered. "I'm sorry. I didn't plan it to happen like it did." She sighed. Bella pulled away, nodding in understanding.
Genesis's eyes flashed with realization and she quickly handed over Anastasia, zipping over to Rosalie and hugging her tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay." Genesis whispered. Rosalie held her back just as tight, trembling a bit with the emotions she was feeling. "You sacrificed yourself for me." She stated. Genesis pulled away, putting her hands on either side of Rosalie's cheeks. "And I would do it again a million times over if it meant you got to live. You're one of my children now, Rose. I would do anything to keep any of you safe. Never forget that." She comforted.

It was odd to call them all her children, considering the actual age gap and the fact that one of them was actually her sister, however, it felt right. Bella thought about it once before, and she believed she saw Genesis as more of a mother figure because of Rene's negligence. It all clicked together. They were all a family now. One big family. Genesis gave everyone a hug before heading out with Carlisle to quench the thirst raking her throat.
"I absolutely hate the idea of killing baby animals." Genesis said with a disgusted look. Carlisle chuckled, "There are plenty of animals around here that you wouldn't mind killing, I assure you." He said. Suddenly, Genesis stopped her walking with him and pulled him into a tight embrace. "I love you, so, so much. I'm so sorry you weren't the one to turn me. And I'm also sorry how it happened. I know that probably scared you to death." She apologized.
Carlisle ignored the irony, "It definitely scarred me for life, however, it's not your fault. Also, if it makes you feel any better, it was me who changed you. Thomas obviously has never turned anyone before. All he did was bite you, not inject any venom. I was scared I had lost you." He confessed. Genesis pulled away a bit and held his face in one of her hands, "I will never leave you." She promised. Carlisle captures her lips in a long overdue kiss, feeling peace overflow his being in waves.
"That gift of yours is really amazing. I'm just glad you have control over your emotions, meaning you can control your power easily." He complimented. "Thanks. I guess it could be useful if the situation arises. However, I don't think I'd ever use my powers for chaos. I'd rather choose the peaceful route." She said. Carlisle smiled, "I of all people would understand that. However, I have learned that this world, our world, doesn't take peace. You have to create it." He explained.
Genesis sighed, "I guess vampires are like humans in that sense. Always wanting peace, yet to have it, they have to take it by force. It's an ironic paradox. That's why they always say history repeats itself." Carlisle nodded. "The Volturi, for instance. Three high and mighty kings playing Monarchy over a secret society. They're like a Government. However, I know no one likes them too well. They don't have that big of a following, yet they have the 'most powerful.'" She scoffed.
Carlisle nodded his head, understanding how right she was. "They are the only ones I would make an acceptation for. They can't defeat all of us, especially with my power. I can use their powers against them. However, I'd only do it if they posed a threat to us. We'd make a better government. One where we could all live in peace with the humans like we do." She explained. Carlisle was shocked to say the least, however, he couldn't help but to like the idea. A better world? A safer world? That's all he's ever wanted.
"It's a plan."
It had been months. Jacob exposed himself to Charlie, somehow making it possible for them all to stay in one place without Charlie knowing about them. How that worked, Genesis would never know. One would think that if they saw one they'd suspect the other, but she guessed that she was the only one that pieced it together just off of story books. Now here she was with Bella, Jacob, and Anastasia, catching snowflakes.
Anastasia had grown to be what looked around maybe 7 to 10 years old in just the span of almost a year. It worried them all to no end. They didn't know how long she would live because they didn't know of this ever occurring before. Bella believes they'll find answers, which was all the hope they could run off of at the moment. They had also been informed of Jacob's new lack of aging. It seems that the longer Anastasia lives, the longer his wolf abilities will keep him alive.
Anastasia jumped up once again to catch a snowflake, but noticed someone out in the distance. "Who's that?" Anastasia asked once she landed back on the ground. After getting a closer look, Genesis spoke, "One of our cousins. Irena?" Genesis called out. The woman's eyes widened and she disappeared quickly. The two sister ran to the mountain peak where she last stood, but saw no sign of her. They looked at each other in confusion.
"Let's get back to the house." Genesis suggested. Bella nodded her head and went back to Anastasia and Jacob. Genesis went off into the woods a bit further, trying to locate Irena. She sighed when the tracks stopped, opting to go home instead. Once she got home she was greeted by a mildly concerned Carlisle. "You've got to stop scaring me like this." He mumbled as he pulled her in for a hug.
"What do you mean?" She asked confusedly. "Bella and Jacob were back without you. They thought that you were already here." He explained. "Oh, sorry. I was looking for Irena." She said. He tilted his head in confusion, "Irena? She lives in Alaska, why would she be here?" He asked. Genesis shrugged, "We caught her watching us and she ran away before we could confront her." She explained. The two made there way into the room just in time for Alice to enter the room with a vision.
Genesis was quick to catch the vase in her hands, setting it down before instinctively holding the girl in her arms like a mother comforting their child. She had gotten into the habit of doing this whenever she had a vision, trying to give her any kind of comfort while she was sucked in. Alice came back to reality a moment later, holding Genesis back tightly out of fear. "Alice, what did you see, darling?" Genesis asked lowly. Alice shuttered a moment before speaking,
"The Volturi. They're coming for us."

Author's Note: This story is different from other wuxia novels. If those novels focus on characters that struggle from the bottom and reach the top, this story is one where someone already reached the top. I figured it would be interesting to start a novel from this concept so I started it. Well, however this plays through, just like how I finished my previous novel, Doll's Smile, I'll finish this novel too. Of course, I'm writing this novel just for fun. I like to write lighthearted novels like this. Novels that I would read while listening to music and eating snacks on a pleasant and relaxing afternoon. Do forgive me if I'm slow in writing.
